Color Coding?Follow

#1 Nov 11 2004 at 10:57 AM Rating: Decent
I have a couple of questions about the color coding of items I've been hearing about.

For instance, to enchant pieces of armor you must first disenchant pieces of dropped armor. The trainer, however, told me that I could only disenchant armor that was of "green" or better quality? What does this mean, green? And how does one find out if he has this "green" armor in his posession?

Also, I read somewhere on these forums about certain quests and instances. It was stated that any quests that were, again I think it was "green" or higher, needed a party to be completed safeley.

I'm confused as to all of this color coding. If someone could explain it to me a little better, I'd appreciate it mucho. TIA

Green armor will have a green name when viewed in your inventory (check my profile as I have a few in there).

As far as disenchanting, you can do this on any green or better armor OR weapon. If you have another tradeskill you can make the green armor to disenchant...good way to skill up two seperate skills at the same time.

As for quests, that is completely different. They are color coded according to difficulty. From lowest to highest:

Grey -> Green -> Yellow -> Orange (not sure if there is a red)

You can most of the time complete up to yellow on your own. Orange will require a group or you to gain a few more levels.

Hopefully this clears up some confusion.

I have noticed the same kind of color coding for trade skill items. As my smithing goes up, items that were orange turn yellow...yelow items turn green.

Yes, thanks for adding that.

Recipes for items have the same color coded progression that the quests do. As of now, the only purpose this serves is to let you know how much/if you will gain skill in your craft. (I haven't seen a failed synthesis yet...) Grey is a definite no, you will not skill up at all. Green is a very slim chance. Yellow is a decent chance to skill up. Orange means you definitely will skill up (Once again no red, other than text on pattern scrolls if you cannot use them)

EDIT : Forgot to add something XD
