Good DPS class?Follow

What would be a good non-casting DPS class that could also take some damage. Rogue comes to my mind but i just got this months PCGamer and it says that rogues have light health, which should make them not a great solo class.

Paladins have been my number one class for WoW since i first read about the game. But in EQ, Monks have an insane DPS at higher levels and can drop a mob at its level before he gets below 50% health.

If rogue is the way to go, and they dont have a good bit of HP to take hits, ill stick with paladin. But if a warrior is good, ill go warrior. But with warriors, they dont get great armor to my understanding. They only get mail (with training?). This could make them seriously easy to kill when it comes to trying to tank or kill multiple mobs at once.

Then again, i could always be a wizard and nuke the $hit out of them =p.

Sounds to me like you might wanna play a Warrior, Graynomas.

My limited experience only took me to level 10 with an Orc Warrior, but let me tell you that the guy was nearly unstoppable. Almost no downtime, huge HP's and Strength, battle after battle....the dude was a machine. I've also heard they have one of the highest DPS in the game, depending on which talent tree you tend to spend your points on.

You are already proficient in 'Mail' type armor, so unlike every other class but Paladin, you won't have to spend cash to train it. It was my understanding that Warriors can wear the same type of armor as pally's (i.e. plate) it's just that pally's have an inherently higher defense at the cost of the lowest DPS in game.

Warriors on the other hand can take lots of damage, AND deal lots of damage, and can even switch stances to enhance one playstyle or the other at any given time depending on the situation. At level 20 they even get the ability two dual wield. Orcish natural proficiency in axes X 2 = all kinds of pain.

They get come cool abilities, unlike some other games (which won't get mentioned here...thanks Redmoon ^^) where Warriors tend to be nothing more than a meat shield. Playing a Warrior in WoW was actually fun. On top of all that, Warriors are the ONLY class with the ability to 'taunt' their enemies off their party members, which you probably already know is one of the most valuable skills in a party, and will almost always assure you a spot in a group.

In a nutshell, Warriors are cool, and it sounds like just the class you've been looking for.

Thanks a lot. Didnt know a warrior was able to pwn so hard like that. What tree(s) did your warrior focus in to make it deal out so much damage. I guess ill go Orc, given i just think they look awesome.

I didn't get far enough along to get to play with any talents first hand. He only made it to level 10, as I was just playing around to see what I wanted to play at official release time.

From what I've seen, I'd probably choose "Arms". That's just my opinion though. I'd just experiment and see what works for you.

Rogues are pretty good solo btw. I am currently playing a mage and a freind of mine is a rogue and we do a lot of instances over and over (because they are so much damn fun). At lvl 20 Ive seen him 2 hit kill stuff (mind you the mob didnt know he was there until it was too late).

Well, it is true that the rogue doesn't have gobs of HP and defense like a warrior or paladin does. However, they do get some nice abilities like evasion, sprint, and numerous abilities in the subletly tree. Plus they are the most active in melee combat as you have to position yourself for them to take effect (backstab and garrote come to mind instantly).

Rogue does an incredible job in the DPS department. I highly suggest it.
