And as such, I have some new hunter questions.

Like: How do I feed my pet? I feel like I'm missing something obvious here but I searched around the area for an hour and a half and could find nothing. Mr Bojangles is hungry!

I'm a Nightelf, so if anyone could point out any information on how to learn/buy/quest/whatever for this ability (?), I'd much appreciate it.

Left click on the meat you want to feed your pet. Then drag it over to your pet and release the button. It should glow for a second and it will feed your pet. Don't feel to bad, I still haven't figured out how to use the 40+ trainer pts that I have. The instructions aren't that useful at this point and time. Hopefully, when the game comes out we will have more info. Like how to setup the macros.

It's the SexiLexi!!! I see you!!

I think Sarchar will find this information useful as well...I'm not sure he's figured out the pet-feeding thing yet (he was wondering about it the ther day..). I'll be sure to direct him here.

As for me, I'm still trying to finish my questing to get my bear shapeshift ; ; That darned crazy bear whoops my butt if I go near him!

Anyways, good luck to you ^_^ Hopw your pet becomes happier with some food in his tummy!

Drag and drop to feed.

Don't feel too bad, took me forever too.

And as far as I know, you can't train your pet until you hit level 20. If you talk to a pet trainer (there's one near the stable master and hunter trainer in Dolanaar) they don't let you get "growl" rank 2 until lvl 20. I'm assuming that's when you can start training your pet.

Also, there are specific animal type trainers. Might need to visit that animals specific trainer to train it.

Only one I've found is the Owl Trainer. In Darnassus, in front of the large Ancient of War.

Ah, ok. Well, I have a wolf. So, he won't help much unless I want the wolf to learn about hooters. ~grin~ I know, bad pun.

Actually....I believe the owl trainer in Darnassus sells Owls. I assume that they just follow you around for decoration.

You're probably right. You can buy non-combat pets that follow you around and look cool.

Go back to my other theory about the lvl 20 Pet Trainer.

Oh, thanks. I will try that. Just means I have to wait 6 more levels.

Each pet inherently has its own set of abilities, and only specific abilities they can learn (wolves can't learn claw). After your new pet uses their abilities a few times you will get a message that says "You have learned: Growl". Then once you have learned the ability, you can teach it to your other pets (assuming it is something they can learn)

There is a thread on pet abilities at the WoW forums http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.aspx?fn=wow-hunter&t=4802&p=1&tmp=1#post4802
In a couple of posts they even list what beasts have what abilities.

There is also a list here http://www.ultimategamers.com/worldofwarcraft/petability.html although I am not sure of its accuracy or how up to date it is

There is an ability you get at level 10 that you can drag to your hotkey bar and click on to feed your pet. Drag and drop isn't the only way to do it and probably takes longer.

Just clicking the button alone doesn't feed your pet. You would need to click the button and then click on the food you want to feed it. So either way, it seems like the same number of clicks.

Yeah, but clicking on your pet is a pain. It's easier to just click no the food in your inventory.

I went back and tried it out.

I don't know where to get any meat to feed it. Problem 1.

Problem 2: I don't have this feed pet ability you speak of Druid. I checked my Spell/Book abilities, all tabs, and nothing there. I checked the trainers in Dolanaar and Darnassus, and theres nothing there I can learn that looks like I could feed my pet.

Again, any help is appreciated.

Do you see a button that looks like a dog bone cookie? You should have gotten this ability from the hunter trainer.

Meat drops off a lot of animals and there is a meat vendor that wanders in the trade district of darnassus.

If you tame an owl they eat fruit/bread.

Edit: Ok, I got it now. Wow, that took a while....

I had to do the Training the Beast quest, first.

Yeah, they implemented that in the last patch. I was already lvl 11 at the time, and did the quest for fun.

When in Darnassus (if Night Elf) go to the Trader's Terrace, there'll be an NPC wandering around that has the title "meat seller". But Jerky from her.

If not a Night Elf, not sure where you go, but there should be a meat seller or someother kind of grocer around.

You can teach your pet Growl before L20 ... I don't remember what screen, but you have rank 1 and 2 growl.

Got rank 1, but last time checked with trainer, rank 2 was at lvl 20.

I stopped playing Hunter since that's what i'll be doing come retail, so I've been playing other jobs and checking out other areas.

I like the starting dwarf area, tried Hunter and Warrior (okay). Played a Night Elf Druid (decent class), and tried a human Paladin (didn't like).

So far it's between a Dwarf Hunter and a Night Elf Hunter.

You have to use the pet trainer ability. Then you can teach your pet growl 2. After that you have to wait for lvl 20. Just figured it out while I was fooling around.

To get a good start on gaining new pet abilities check out the hunter pet link on http://www.warcraftlinks.com . There aren't a lot of abilities right now but hopefully the list stays up to date as new ones are added.
