Because people in the FF11 forums are asses I must ask here.Follow

I asked if I were to cancel my account, will my characters still be there say, in May if I re-activate it? I asked that question in the FF11 forums and got no reply, just rate-downs.

And no, I did not even mention WoW or any other MMORPG, I said I do not have the time to play anymore(college) and that is true. What I did not say is that I will being playing WoW when I get a chance.(almost a two month winter break.. lots of WoW.. and if I like it better than FF11 I am definitly dropping FF11 for good.)

Wow, rate down for asking questions in the FFXI forum...

Not surprised!

I do found it funny you came here @_@...

Anyways, if you cancel your account, your characters will remain for 3 months then will be deleted. Here's a rateup to counter the utterly pointless rate downs that only the FFXI forums can provide.

No hopefully about it. If you don't like WoW more than FFXI, well, SE managed to brainwash you with hours upon hours of farming or fishing ^^

Now that you've graduated to the WoW forums mind doing us a huge favour and trying out the Shift and . keys? (Seriously man, punctuation is your friend!)

Also, rate-ups to counteract FFXI, as a welcome, and to encourage you to come back again!

I've never run into the @$$'s that plague the FFXI forums, but then again I played as a BST. Never the less, I am also hanging up my axe and moving towards WoW. 63% downloaded as of this morning, so hopefully sometime tonight it might be completed.

I hate to tell you guys this, but the a$$es that play FFXI are usually the casual gamers who don't care too much about the world of Van.

And guess which game casual gamers are going to flock to when this hits the shelves? I would recommend turning off your general channels around...the 22ndish.

It's weird, I was SO into FFXI when I got it, and now that I've started playing WoW I've found so much I like better about this game. The crafting system seems much more aimed towards success and advancement than it does driving your cash supply 6 feet under, and I *love* how its based around quests, not xp'ing as we do from levels 1-75 (often on crabs... grrr SE). We'll see if I can keep both of them going, but something tells me, if I have to retire from one, it might end up being FFXI.

I've seen more FFXI bashing so far here than WoW bashing on the FFXI forum >_>

Remember that gaming is mostly relative, what's good for you may not be good for me and vice versa. WoW is not the end-all be-all MMO, neither is FFXI or EQII, but all three games will certainly attract different gamers. I love the challenge and length of FFXI, so far I dislike the tedium and simplicity of WoW, the quest system leaves so much to be desired. To each his own, though, it's just funny to see you guys doing exactly the same thing you blast FFXI players for (at least the ones who visit allakhazam, which are not representative of the FFXI population, at least not the high level population).
#14 Nov 10 2004 at 1:54 PM Rating: Decent
I am going to give you the real reason why you got rated down in that crappy excuss for a forum (even though the ones stated here are good).

What you posted is what the FFXI people considered a "Dead Horse". People hate it there when others post a topic that has already been done (even if it has been brought up only once). The topic of cancelation is up on the list of Dead Horses, right next to Gil sellers and "FFXI vs XXX" topics.

So the FFXI'ers seen the topic header, and concluded that you was just "beating the poor dead horse", and in turn, rated you down.

I would advise anyone that isn't going to post positive comments on the game, even if you just post neutral comments, to stay away from that section of Allahkazam.

Yeah, Allakazham in general I've found to be nasty at times. But the Dark Knight forum in FFXI can be brutal. I'll probably be making the jump as well, although there's a lot of people I hate leaving behind.
It's just that I've realized I don't have the time to hit level 75 and "complete" the game. Which is a drag since I've never not finished a Final Fantasy game I've started.
FFXI is a great game if you have the time, SE really nailed group dynamics when they put that one together. No useless jobs (*cough* Druid *cough*), a solid set of active abilities and 3 very different yet effective tanks.
But WoW seems to support the casual gamer, thats why BLizz will get my money, and any game where I can play as my Zodiac sign gets bonus points as well ^^.

The problem he posted and blasted FFXI about were the useless people that swim it's forums. I play, and have played, FFXI since day 1 of the north american launch, and i have only found a helpfull response maybe twice from the forums. It is amazing that there is a flock of people who all they do is go around saying bla bla bad grammar bla bla. It is one thing if ur using broken english, but if u leave out a comma, it is not the end of the world. (this has NOTHING to do with comment above btw) I posted and left out the final period mark and got rated down, with no responses to my valid question about a certain NM. When i posted wtf is wrong with you people, i got about 10 reponses that they rated me down for not using a final punctuation. AAHHH!!! I wanted to hunt down and beat thier useless asses to death ><. In game, it is very simliar. You have a general populace of asshats, more so then not. I have my own ls (liek guild in WOW) and thats my only escape from the tedium and asshatedness (heh gota love made up words) in FFxi. I am at around 50% DL (but its goin at 24kps so god knows when itll be done) and am trully hoping that WoW will suffice to replace FFxi. i love the game, frankly, hate the people. Anyways, sorry for long and angry post, but i too have had about 1000 bad experiences with useless ratedowners.

Stop w/ the FFXI bashing.

If you played FFXI for a year and have nothing but complaints about it, you're a fool for sticking around for a year.

Ah...a fellow BST...and spoken as a true representative of the players that choose such a class.
I am inclined to agree, “To each his/her own.” I have enjoyed my MMORPG’s, and I will continue to do so with WoW. The flame at hand is in reference to the “bashing” of FFXI, is it necessary or redundant? The answer does not even belong in this thread. However, I believe that with the major flux of players between all the MMORPG’s, that post’s like this are to be expected. Pro’s & Con’s, compare the known to the unknown. I know my own personal conflict is do I make the switch to a franchise that I have always enjoyed, or do I stay in the environment that I’ve spent countless hours creating for my character. I choose change (the one constant), and with that will come my natural urge to evaluate it. That being said, I believe that it is necessary.

I've played all three....yes....EQII and WoW. Being a game reviewer, even if just for a newspaper, has it's advantages.

It is a "each to his own" thing. All three games are very different. Maybe FFXI and EQII are the most alike. You can not argue that WoW is not cassual friendly because jsut about anybody can solo at a respectable rate. EQII soloiung is viable for most professions. Finally FFXI has a slim to none approach on soloing.

FFXI is built as a community game, more so then any other. They want you to get with 12-18 other people to do what is "standard" etc. Remember, FFXI was made by Japanese, their community as a who tends to like huge group activies.

If you like playing with people, and having alot of flexability in what you bring to the party - the you more then likely love FFXI. Even the economy is commnity based. It's not about you getting to level XX on craft XXXX...its about what you are buying and selling to help others...and the side benifit is you advance.

EQII pigeon holes you. There is little flex to each profession. You will excell at one thing and suck at most others. Some people will like this, others won't.

WoW is cassualy great, even better when you got some friends to play it with. But it won't last with the hardcore players in my opinion. When people acn max thier characters out in less then a month or so with "average" MMORPG play time...there simply isn't enough time sinks.

And that's really what WoW lacks (intentional or not) is time sinks. Some people hate them, other like them.

So to each thier own. I will play a bit of WoW cause I like elements of it, it will be good for stepping away from all the million of things I need to do in FFXI. But FFXI will remain my main - WoW just didn't do it for me enough to move over full-time.

I used to play FFXI and people in the forums are less than friendly there, and even in game most people have no manners.

Been playing WoW for the last week now and really enjoying it.

The message you get is that characters are deleted after 3 months, but you get the same message when you cancel Ultima Online, only they never purge the database...

The only sure thing is that the characters stay 3 months, everything after that no one really knows I guess.

As for the bashing of other games...I hardly ever can understand why people have to identify themselves that much with a game, that it becomes necessary to loath anything else, or even worse, to look with disdain on people who like a different game than they do. it's baffling.

So far I played what I liked, and I still like those games and even sometimes go back to them, I started with Ultima Online and I still try out new expansions and usually like them. After a few years of UO I played Anarchy Online, Diablo II and Final Fantasy XI for at least a year and still like them all.

There are some games that did not appeal to me, and I did not play them, but most of them have still large numbers of customers, so they cannot be that bad either. Well maybe all except Asheron's Call II, it seems most everyone got bored of that pretty fast ;)

*sigh* Whining, moaning, flames and ratedowns...Good job going off topic, people. The OP couldn't find an answer in the FFXI forums and thought he can get it here since this is where most ex-FFXIer are anyways. It's not like asking a question in the FFXI forums is good idea...I've been there, it's scary...Anyways, he did not say FFXI is teh suxxor rather that he was giving WoW a try and see how he likes it.

People, seriously, calm down. If people think FFXI suck, then it sucks to them. No way in hell they are going to change their opinion because you want them to. And no, they are not idiots for playing for a year (Kingjord, I'm talking to you) Prehaps they had high hopes and pushed forward hoping that the game would reward them. Prehaps when they reached that point in which they hoped to be rewarded, then found out that there was nothing to be gained but more tedium. Prehaps they stayed because of their LS while they slowly began to hate the game all together. There are plenty of reasons why they hate the game. Just keep in mind it's not as simple as many may think.

In the same time, people who think FFXI sucks should keep it to themselves because it's truely a tired statement. We know you do not enjoy FFXI, that's why you are here. You really don't need to annouce it. Let's say I hate horror movies and decide to go to an action movie. Do you think people attending an action movie is going enjoy me rant outloud how I dislike horror movies? Nope, they'll kick my *** out most likely.

And as for the silent ninja karma bombers, your fingers will fall off and will be eaten up by your cat/dog/dinosaur and it will die, much like your singing career.

Now, everybody, get back to having fun in whatever game you play. That's the entire purpose to playing video games and don't even forget it.

As an add to that, I find it funny since...

There is no challenge to FFXI, just grinding..

and I like the simplicity of WoW, I play to relax, not get frustrated at all the time sinks ;-)

But nothing says "to each their own" quite like the way that all the MMO's attract their own groups. You will see turds in every game, on every message board, everywhere.
