compareing the classes with ffxi is quite hard since you can solo with any char.

Warriors: your basic tank , however they are a heavy dmg dealer. tink mixing monk and dragoon to em.

hunters :is like mixing rangers with beastmen, you can control a pet at lv 10 (permanently if you like) you can lv your pet and your hunter specilizes in ranged weps and can also equip melee weps like a 2h sword.

Druids are a redmage done right. and then some. you can tank, even be a dmg dealer like a rouge. and can heal liek a whm and toss some dmging spells. Infact theres no ffxi char that can discribe a druid.

rouges: they do massive dmg. mix ninjas and thieves from ffxi and you got a rouge. you can go completely invis to the public and backstab big time , the way thieves should have been. they also can use dual wield.

mages: just like the blm they cast dmg dealing spells, also they can create food and water to feed their party.

warloks is a mage summoner .

shamans arequite special. they are a jack of all trades and can be very powerful in groups yet 1 vs1 they will have a hard time. they can heal, rez, dmg deal, well just about anything however they dont exceed at anything.

paladins :are hard to discribe. since they got a new facelift i gotta try em out. basicly they tank and heal.

Priest: this is a whm wet dream. they can heal and also deal massive dmg with their shadow spells, also per race you can get some race specific spells.

for better info check the class lookup in allakazam

Mage = Black Mage/Red Mage. Highest burst magic damage in the game. Also uses frost spells to enfeeble the enemy. Best AoE caster in the game.

Hunter = Ranger/Beastmaster/Red Mage. Ranged fighter that can own pets that level with their master and also have traps that enfeeble/damage. Also have spells that increases own stats and pets.

Warrior = All melees in FFXI. Warriors have the ability to change stances depending on the battle situation. Makes for a great tank in defensive stance, a steady damage dealer in offensive stance and a melee killing machine in berserker stance, though berserker stance brings the lower def penalty.

Warlock = Red Mage/Summoner. The best damage over time dealer in the game. Also have the ability to summon pets depending on the situation. Can also open portals to open areas and summon other players.

Paladin = Paladin/Bard. Has the best def in the game. Can support a party through tanking, healing and provide seals and auras that give benefits to the party.

Rogue = Theif/Dark Knight. The best melee damage dealer in the game. Has the ability to stealth and backstab as well as sap enemies and stun them. With each success attack, rogues can build up combo points that a rogue can use for a minor boost in stats or execute a finishing move.

Shaman = Bard/Red Mage. The jack of all trades. The shaman can use totems to heal/enfeeble/attack depending on the radius for the uses.

Druids = Red Mage/Thief/Warrior. Druids have the ability to transform to either a bear or a tiger to make up for slots in a party. In bear form a druid acts as a replacement warrior and in tiger form, a replacement rogue. Druids are also the second best healers in the game in caster form and gain the most powerful buff in the game (Mark of the Wild).

Priests = White Mage/Red Mage/Black Mage. Best healer in the game. Not only a healer, priests can buff party members and cause good damage with holy spells as well as shadow magic.

Okay is hunter expensive?

Ammo is nowhere near as expensive as it is in FFXI. You can get 200 starting bullets for dirt cheap. You'll be spending more money buying skills than buying ammo, in my opinion anyways.

wow! That was a very nice description of the jobs. It was so good that I can't decide on which one I would want to play when I get the game *_*;;

ps. Rate up to you two ^^b

My husband and I both played EQ for 2 years and now still playing FFXI but man to get gil in FFXI what a pain in the butt lol

When we both heard that WOW was coming out on the 23rd we decided to play this also at the same time :)

I played a Shaman in EQ topped out at lvl 55 on FFXI i play a WHM :)

I love to heal so have to see which healing job on this game is the best :)

any race will do with hunters. orc i believe get a trait that makes their pets attack stronger as a ex.

choose which faction you prefer (allience or horde)

Any hunter race can do fine.

If you want the BEST that would be orc.. due to axe mastery and + dmg from pets.

Not far behind them is Dwarf with gun specialization.

Im thinking of Alliance I don't really want a Orc, Undead, nor Torren (Don't know the spelling) AND DEFINATLY NOT DWARF! Im thinking of Human or Night Elf

Priest is by far the best healer. It is true that other classes can heal, but the priest does it the best.

Galka, read the FAQ first. That will answer a lot of your questions.

And a Night Elf is a much better race than Human for hunters because Humans can't be hunters.

Ammo is very cheap. 200 shot (or arrows, depending on bow or gun) is 10 copper. You'll get that 10 copper before you've used 50 ammo. At level 5 you get the next level of ammo, which sells 200 for 50 copper, which again is easy to get.

You start off with a 6 slot ammo container (quiver or pouch). Ammo comes in groups of 200. So you can fill up with 1200 ammo for 60 copper at the beginning.

It will take you a LONG time to get thru 1200 ammo.

I've tryed Night Elf Hunter and Dwarf Hunter. Both are very cool.

Much love, Seoman :)

Anyways, you really can't compare FFXI jobs with WoW's classes. Too many abilities that make the WoW's classes what they are missing in FFXI's classes, then again, I'm comparing apples and oranges.

Figure taking multiple jobs and comparing one class of WoW's the way to go even with the differences.

By the way, Galkaknight, sorry you didn't like it. Guess the game's not for you... *shurgs* :(
