While updating a few drivers, I decided to check and see if there was anything I needed to uninstall. Horizons is still on here? I got sucked in when a relative visited... Most any MMO can hold my interest for the first few days. There was some cool stuff about the game, like how players had to complete a rescue quest to unlock new races. Sadly, nobody played and the thing was buggy as heck. I couldn't visit the biggest city in the game because I had an ATI card!

Anyway, I clicked uninstall... 10 minutes ago. It's about 20% done. Leave it to Horizons to make even the uninstall painful. I also found out that since EB sent me the EQII preorder bonus CD, my order counts as partially shipped and I can't cancel it. Since WoW is likely going to control the rest of my life, I can't see much use for EQII. I guess I'll throw it on the pile that contains my Asheron's Call, Horizons, Star Wars Galaxies, Final Fantasy 11, and Ultima Online boxes.

What MMO games have you guys regretted purchasing?

I regret purchasing DOAC...although, like you I cna be occupied for a day or two by any MMORPG. I gave it longer than a day or two but I had grown weary of it after only a couple of days. I kept thinking it would get better. Actually it did not. Don;t get me wrong, there were some cool things that I felt DOAC did better than EQ at the time. But I went back to EQ.

I did not regret Ultima Online. I played it for some time prior to EQ and it is what got me into the whole MMORPG thing. When EQ came out, it so outclassed it, but UO was the one that started it all.

I played planetside...i suppose it is not really an MMORPG...but it was a big online game. Was fun for a weekend and then you realize it is just the same thing over and over.

I tried the 14day trial, played for a couple of days and then dropped it. I think Lucas Arts rushed that one.

FFXI and DAoC...*lights up a match and let the games burn*

City of Heroes, however, I will keep. It's an interesting game and I'll make sure to play again when City of Villians is out and I'm bored with WoW (if that's possible). Unfortunately, in it's current form, it's too repetitive. Good game but dammit I want to plot evilness!

I've played EQ(and all expansions except for the newest) twice in fact. Shadowbane and FFXI. Shadowbane is the only MMORPG that i actually regret buying (it was a horrible game, fun at first because you leveled so fast, but NO content and was too subject to t3h z3rg).
I also played Darkness Falls (text based MUD that was on AOL and Gamestorm) Legends of Kesmai (kind of a Ultima Online precursor, also on GameStorm) which were fun and no regrets there. And then I also played Darkness Falls: The Crusade (DFs sequel, Mythic Entertainment bought the rights to it). Its the game that DAoC's concept was based off (thats right, DAoC IS NOT an original piece of work, its just the graphical interpretation of DFC).

SWG sucked the big one! i wish i never bought that
FFXI was good till about lvl 50 then the party thing got old, and it was getting boring altogether(also the "gil sellers" and so forth kinda runed the game for alot of ppl because items that are needed for some jobs there price went throw the roof! like the fact ppl are now just buying the items with real life money 300 dollors for a lvl 30 ring WTF! (they have helped distory the game)

just my input :o)

/end rant

The only MMO beforehand I *really* played was Everquest, and I regret spending over 300 days played that could have been spent doing...well, 7200 hours of something else.

Haven't regretted any of them.

Ultima Online, been playing for 4+ years. Just got the latest expansion (Samurai Empire) which I'll play now and then. WoW will take up the majority of my time.

Liked FFXI for awhile, got bored of it.

City of Heroes was interesting, not enough to hold my interest totally but it kept me entertained for a couple weeks.

FFXI since release. Just hit lvl 70 with my main. Getting very bored. Too much in game drama. But I don't regret buying it.To me that game is awesome, it was my first MMORPG and thus my first taste of the crack that is MMO's.

CoH was fun until I hit the lvl cap in like 3 weeks. Just too easy. I do regret that one. I forgot to cancel my subscription and enede up paying for it for a long time after not touching it....

WoW is stunning. It grabbed me and pulled me away from FFXI, and there aren't a lot of things in this world that can do that. And this is just the Beta. I love it. it is my new drug of choice
My roomate was in the EQ2 Beta and I liked it a lot but I'm glad I didn't pre-order it because I like WoW so much more it would have been a waste of money for me.My friends are playing too and they have tried for a year to get me away from FFXI....they finally found something that did the trick. I will still play FFXI just to get 75 but other then that I'm done.
