In case anyone else starts the download and gets really slow speeds :

I started downloading the patch and it was going REALLY slowly. At first it was at zero, then about 3k/sec...

I restarted the download.

Again - very slow. I figured I'd just let it go slowly, and come post here for an hour or so while it turtled along.

Anyway ... five minutes later it sped up... A lot. It's now going 20k/sec (not great, but it'll be done in 11 minutes). It gave me a firewall notice, saying that it could go faster if I wasn't beind a firewall.

One other thing - does anyone know why It's uploading as well as downloading??

BitTorrent always download and upload at the same time. Unless you're seeding, then you're uploading only (obviously).

Also, adjusting your max upload speeds will also affect your download speed. For example, if you put the upload to the lowest possible, it will bomb your download speed; while increasing upload speed too much will take up the banwidth and the result will be slower download. It's best to test out different combination for the fastest download your connection allows.

Additionally, if your download is hampered by firewall, try to configure your firewall to open port 6881-6889. I think these are the ports that BitTorrent uses.
