It seems to me to be a game where you can choose what you want to focus on more. If you like PvP then you can spend alot of time killing the other faction, if you like PvE theres plenty - enough so that if you dont pvp its still a fun game. Unlike Lineage 2 where the whole thing was PvP and EQ was mainly PvE. THis game seems to have a pretty good bit of both. EQ was raid based i would say, i did lots and lots of raids as a higher end Wizard from 55 on, WoW only has a few raid level dungeons AT THIS TIME. Im sure it will change as the game expands, alot like EQ (no im not saying it will become EQ, dont make me burn lol). The game is very casual player friendly but also has room for Hardcore Powerlevelers, the focus of the game isnt a grind unlike L2/FF11 and EQ in the higher levels, theres lots of quests you can do and they arent all "kill x of these and get y of this", there are other quests to. From what i have seen WoW has lots more quests than most MMORPGs i have played (quite a few). Hope this answers some qwestions =)
