It's well over 2 gigs so I wouldn't wait to get this puppy downloaded or you very well might miss the first 2 day's of open beta just downloading the client. The info needed to get it is at:
http://guild-designs.com/wow.htm

Enjoy and spread the word.

Does it really take that long to download it? Even with a DSL? I'm looking at the bit torrent now and its telling me it will take over 300 hours to dowload it.

No I downloaded it in 6 hours. The first few megs will take a while but then you'll speed up to about 100-140 kb a sec and then you'll really get it fast.

Also please spread the word about it to other boards the more people downloading the better because they are simultaneously seeding it as well and thus everyones download speed will increase.

What do you mean? Hopefully i'm right on guessing, but download the bit torrent. There is a link to the latest version. Install it, then download the Open Beta file.

yes go to the bit torrent site and download the program. Then when you do that you can click on the WoW Open Beta link. This will execute the program that allows you to connect. Then all you have to do is choose the directory and start the download.

I tried that. Tell me exactly what to click on each step.

The official site hasn't posted the actual WoW Open Beta client yet. The one on this site is likely is the Stress test or closed beta client. This tells me that it prolly won't work or worse has some malicious code.

Trust this site, I do not.

I virus scanned it with AVG and Stinger and came out with no viruses. When I installed it, it called itself the open beta. So, we will see. Even ran Spybot and Ad-aware. So, lets hope your wrong. ~grin~

It is the wow open beta client. It's the same one the file planet subscribers downloaded a week early for signing up with file planet. There are no viruses and it is not a old client, it is the open beta client. If you want to wait feel free to do so.

You will need a key code. Blizzard will be allowing you to apply for one of those in a day or two. The whole reason behind getting the client early is to beat the rush and to be able to play as soon as they send you the info instead of having to wait hours for the client to download. Plus sine hounderds of thousands of people will be trying to get it at once this could take longer than it would if you got it now. Keep checking in to the worldofwarcraft.com website. Supposedly by tomorrow they will be opening up for open beta applications.

That's up to you but GuildDesigns is the biggest guild hosting site out there. I think they have a reputation to uphold, I highly doubt they would want to tarnish their rep by giving a outdated or bugged client. Plus like he said the open beta client has be available for over a week. It's actually exactly the same client your connecting to. It's just that you don't have to subscribe to file planet to get the torrent file to download it. But you are connecting to the exact same torrent network the subscribers of file planet are connecting to.

It's good to be cautious but use a little common sense.

listen you are downloading the client right now. tomorrow at some point in time worldofwarcraft.com will put up a page so that you can apply for the key. All you have to do is fill out the application form on their site and you will get a key sent to you via email. Then you can run the wow client program you are downloading right now. Type in the key, create a account, and play wow.

All you are doing right now is downloading the client early to save time later so that you can play the second you get the key.

If you don't get the client right now when you get the key you will have to download the client along with 400k other people before you can play the game. This means a major wait to play. With 100's of thousands of people trying to download the same file you are looking at a very slow download speed even if you can connect.

All you are doing right now is getting the open beta client so that when you do get your key from blizzard you will be able to play immediately instead of having to download 2.6 gigs of files. Depending on your connection this will possibly give you a couple more day's of playtime since you got the slow part finished early.
