Hi, I currently play FFXI, it's becoming too much work to do they same boring stuff lately though, so I need a long break, looking forward to Open Beta starting any day.

1.) How do you level up, I've heard you level up from quests, and most of the game you play solo?

2.) Are the quests fun/interesting? In FFXI it was all just kill this monster over and over until something drops, or run from here to there and back because I need something I can buy 3 feet away.

3.) Is a Male-Night Elf-Druid a good combination?

4.) Overall what do you do in the game, do you mostly do quests, kill monsters, or something else?

Thanks!

I'm an FFXI-er too, and I know what you mean about the same boring stuff. I've also played the first beta stress test for WoW and I can't wait till it's released. I love the quest aspect, and the fact that when you craft you won't lose your ingredients. Plus the idea of quests for recipes, materials, etc. When you start a quest, it keeps a log for you of what you've collected and what you still need to collect to complete the quest. And for recipes, you get them right in the game...you don't have to log on to a website to find out what the ingredients are to craft something. Everything about it (in the short time I was able to play it) was intriguing. Hopefully I'll get in for the Open Beta, but if not, I've already got my store copies pre-ordered.

Still learning WoW, but at least through the first 10 levels you can just about get all your xp from questing. You can also find all you need in the way of gear or sellable items for your first set of levels from what you kill or get as a reward in questing.

I found at level 9 a couple of quests in the second village really went smooth with 3 or 4 in a group, as there were many creatures that aggroed on sight.

Crafting is done very simple as stated before. No failures that I know of, and useful items crafted that help you at your current level.

Combat is a little more fluid as you won't need to rest between battles much at first unless you get a bunch of adds and barely survive the fight.

All in all a very different game then ffxi, and not really compareable on most levels, since I belive both games were going for very different type of play style.

1) Experience comes from killing monsters and completing quests. It's possible to level up just by grinding monsters. That said... why would you? There are enough quests that you can level all the way just completing quests (since doing the quests almost always implies killing the bad guys along the way). The quests fall into a few broad categories, but the explanation texts are always well-thought out and typically interesting.

You can solo as much or as little of the game as you wish (with the exception of instances). Certain types of quests go faster with multiple people, sometimes that slows things down. Overall there are very few non-instance quests that can't be done by a competent duo; a few call for more, but these are uncommon. You can solo everything else.

In my experience, unless the quest called for killing a named and his bodyguards, most quests should be done solo or duo. Because you have to divvy up loot and exp in a larger group, you lose more than you gain in some circumstances. But a good duo is tremendous.

The exception I mentioned above are instances. Elite quests pretty much mandate that you put together a group of 5. Typically this is where the best loot and the best challenges lie. That said, you can hit level cap without doing a single instance. Though again, why would you?

3) Any legal combination is a good combo. I've heard in FFXI that you can hose yourself by choosing a "bad" race/class combination. It's physically impossible to do that in WoW, if only because race is relatively unimportant. If it's legal, you will do right by it.

4) I did quests almost exclusively, though I did a little grinding monsters (mostly while waiting for groupmates to show up). Some of my friends went very heavily into tradeskills, and did quite well from what they told me. (They claimed that, if Blizzard had been rewarding the top tradeskillers in the stress test, they would have had closed beta accounts afterwards. I believe them.) And a certain amount of the time you just spend exploring, for a quest or otherwise. I remember a friend and I were hunting for a moonwell to steal water from for a quest, and he stumbled upon a monument to Grom Hellscream, one of the Horde's greatest chieftains. You can find some really neat stuff in this game, so take a look around!

I'm currently downloading the game (My cousin had a FilePlanet subscription! :D) and I've only finished 300mb so far, how large is the game file? I know it's over a gig, but how many gigs? :O

Thanks again
