Been hanging around here for awhile, waiting for a chance to try out WoW to see if it's the game for me.
Was finally able to get into it tonight (cut Fileplanet some slack, it's hard for any company/servers/people to process as many requests as they got all at once).
Wow. That was simply stunning. I'd heard Blizzard did great cinematic sequances (this was the first I'd seen). Wow, just wow. Beautiful.
Very nice. Reminds me of City of Heroes. Seems to be alot of choices, so won't see alot of the same looking characters running around. Which was a huge problem in FFXI.
Upon Entering Game:
Controls are VERY easy to get the hang of. The Tutorial that pops up every time you do something new (flashing question mark in the bottom of the screen) is a very nice touch. Makes figuring out how to do things alot easier (which wasn't really needed because the controls of simple to begin with).
(I started off as a Night Elf Hunter)
Simple quest, kill some critters. There was alot of people doing the same thing I was, but that's to be expected, so no complaints. I wasn't in any hurry to complete it. I like having a reason to go around slaughtering wandering creatures, instead of the normal "find a weak creature and beat on it until you can go find another creature to beat on". Now I have reasons to kill that Thistleboar that wanders by me.
Just by wandering around I got another 3-4 quests. Completed 4 quests.
I like being able to pick the rewards, nice touch.
So far (got to level 5) haven't seen anything that's different about leveling speed then anywhere else. Seems pretty decent to me.
Very nice. Landscape is great. Colors are great. Characters didn't look that "cartoony" to me. Creatures looks great.
I like it. Nice and simple, but with some complexity in using different skills. I LOVE MY FIRST STING!!!!
Took some getting used to. Having to hold down both mouse buttons took the most getting used to. Camera wandered alot on me at first. But didn't take that long to get used to it. Starting to develop a combination keyboard/mouse movement, that seems to be working.
Just one. Not enough inventory space. Kept running back to starting area to sell stuff ALOT. Couldn't find anyone selling bigger bags in my starting area.
All in all, after playing about 2.5 hours tonight, I give it a 5 out of 5.
