Reminder for new playersFollow

Since this is going to be a stress test, and the newbie areas will be very crowded, this is just a reminder to new players that when you are doing a quest that involves you killing a certain number of monsters, form a group!

You kill the monsters faster, and each monster killed counts toward EACH PLAYER'S TOTAL. So when a group kills one Goblin Vermin, each party member's Goblin Vermin kill counter goes up by one.

This makes hunting for mobs in a crowded area a lot easier, and much less frustrating.

It is for this very reason I am thinking of waiting a bit before getting WoW: With thousands of people after the same mobs at once things are bound to get nasty, no?

Since I am still in the "Having Mostly Fun" stage in FFXI there isn't any immediate need for me to switch games. I am also sure that there are probably going to still be a few bugs that only become evident with thousands of newbie's.

So, rather than rush in with the crowd, I may take a month or so before I get WoW. The power gamers will be out of the newbie areas and there will still be enough newbies around that I won't feel alone.

This will be around XMas I figure which will lead to its own rush of new players. We'll see. It all depends upon how my FFXI enjoyment holds up.

Note: It isn't a matter of if I get WoW but when.

How are people able to get on anyways? I signed up at around 12 this afternoon and still can't log in. Keeps saying my log in information is incorrect/invalid.

Ok, I log onto FFXI last night and check if my three pieces of armor I have on auction sold. Nope. Check the price history. Priced right, just no sales. That's 20k+ gil I need now.

Rent a Chocobo and head to Jeuno to check on the cost/availability of a spell I need. 15 mins laters I am there. 2 available. Price history says all previous sales were 5K. I bid 5K. No sale. 6K. No sale. 7K. No sale. 8K. Still no sale! I can't afford more now. Another spell I would really like is 140k gil and rising.

Note both of these spells are questable through BCNM 40's but (a) I don't have level 40 equipment yet and (b) I don't have enough level 40+ LS mates who could do these quests with me and give me those scrolls. Smiley: cry

I'm getting fed up with the gil situation in FFXI. Smiley: banghead I wouldn't mind farming so much if either I got a decent rate of return (i.e. NPC's paid me well for the item) or I at least got some decent xp for killing stuff just to earn gil.

I just pre-ordered the Collectors Edition of WoW.

Good man!

During the first stress test the problem with alot of new people in the areas was addressed in many different ways.

Their are more starter areas now. There are more quest mobs running around and the spawn rate is almost instant. Blizzard pays attention. This is a good thing :D

Yeah I find a few people to team up which helps get things done a lot faster. The spawn rate is nice also.
