Hmm because of the Talent Tree system would it be possible to get a shaman that are maxed out in all three magic trees? Or do you have to specialize in 2 and take a hit on the third one?

If the latter which two combination seems to be most effective? I was thinking about going for a Restoration/Enhancement Shaman. How effective is the elemental magic tree?

You get 51 talent points. To get the final talent on any tree, you need to spend 31, which only leaves at most 20 for the other two trees.

hmm sounds similar to Diablo 2. "I'm gonna make a javazon!" "I'm gonna make a sword-barb"

Not necessarily. Talents will probably be tailored to your kind of play style, but they dont limit your class in what htey can do like in Diablo. In Diablo if you went in one direction you were limited to those abilities, but in WoW your class will always have its base abilities, but talents just enhance one aspect of them.

Agree with VampyreKnight, you seem to misunderstand. You get all the base class abilities, which is all you need to be effective at everything a shaman does; talents are fairly minor enhancements that start to matter only as they add up. Overall, talents increase your effectiveness at one aspect of being a shaman, but not having talents in a particular tree doesn't gimp you-- it just doesn't enhance you.

Now, it is possible to spend more than 31 talent points in one tree. Heck, if I were to be an elemental-specced shaman I could see myself investing almost all of them in that tree. Overloading in such a way would make you better at that style of combat, but your base abilities would be unchanged.

ah ok I understand a little better now. I thought that you didn't get any abilities unless you distributed talent points into them. My mistake.
