Woot... downloading. ETA looks to be over 24 hours. BTW, Blizzard is using bittorrent to distribute the files.

Given its for the Open Beta, one would assume so, however that is only an assumption. I will be downloading this when I get back to my house after work ^^

It's a file sharing program called BitTorrent. It allows people to share the upload/download of files. Unfortunately the version that Blizzard uses is severely limited in being able to limit your upload speeds, which in turn destroys your download speeds if you're on an uneven isp such as cable. :(

I'm still awaiting someone to be able to extract the .torrent file and let the people who use BT a chance to fiddle with it and download a bit quicker while not sacrificing ALL of our bandwith.

There seems to be confusion as to how bittorrent works. In theory bittorrent works by spreading the love. The reason people are getting slow speeds (and fluctuating speeds) is because not very many people have much of the client yet. Speeds across the torrent will pickup as more people get higher percentages of the overall file (assuming they keep the download software up). So remember people, even when you are done with the download, share the love by keeping the downloader running. Bittorrent is an awesome way to distribute software, but torrents are always slow for the first few hours. Once a significant chunk of people have the whole thing AND continue to share we'll all see good d/l speeds/

*Points at link above*

Everybody stop d/ing from the link. The link provided was bypassed from the closed beta signups and is wrong to d/l. Do not hate on the OP because he didn't know. Hell, I just found out. Just avoid the link and enter into one of the stress test threads created recently.

Is there a different download for closed beta / stress test downloading? I can't find anything on wow.com so far.
