The Blizzard BitTorrent client is notorious for having problems such as this. Some people in colleges can't even download the patches, and have to rely on someone putting patches up on their own servers to download. Unfortunately I doubt that anyone is up to hosting a 2.5gb file for a bunch of random dudes to download.

I just have to hope that someone posts the .torrent soon so I can use my own BT program and change my upload capacity so I'm not completely screwed just like every time Blizzard decides to put up a new patch or full installer. :\

The only problem I have with this is the fact that it's not "official". I mean, I don't feel like getting in trouble because I d/led something that was not made public. I think I'll sit on d/ling the file but at least I know open beta is a stone throw away. I'll be happy with that.

It wont keeps giving me an error page when I click the create new account button as well. Is this the same for everyone?
#39 Nov 01 2004 at 2:29 PM Rating: Decent

I got the error page too.

I expect it to be fixed later tonight.

It looks like they are getting the website set up for the open beta sign-ups.

What happened to Stress Test 2? Or are they going to combine Test 2 and Open Beta (which would make sense, what's the best way to stress test, overwhelm the servers with the thousands of open beta-ers)

What I mean is Blizzard stepping out and saying "Open beta is open! Now go here, here and here to download the client!" Maybe I'm just paranoid since quite a few games suffered through code steals and the such. Ignore me...

I definitely understand you wanting this game to go retail as soon as possible, but you also have to realize that the closed beta testers were able to log in normally and pick up this file, so it's not quite the same as someone hacking into Valve's servers and stealing the HL2 code.

personaly i dont think it will matter all that much. i doubt that they will have the actual game servers online for a day or so. they will just let us DL the game and sit on that for a month knowing bliz
