Blizzard Forums Vs. AllaFollow

I'm wondering if these forums will be essentially dead come release-time. The FFXI side of Alla is bustling with activity, but I can't see WoW having too much of an active base here, considering that there are actually Blizzard-sponsored forums where we will all be able to post. FFXI being popular here, I can understand, because there's nowhere else to go except other fansites. WoW will have sponsored forums however, where people can congregate, and I'm not sure where it leaves this board.

Would you post a lengthy and brilliant diatribe on this board, knowing that if you clicked over to WoW.com you might get a dev response to your problem or comment? I'm curious as to what people think will happen to this board come retail, as I think most people would head on over to the release forums.

hmm it might be hard for me to leave, i got many pals here and all, however blizzards site doesnt stick 6 different tracking ccokies and spyware in my computer every time i visit so i might opt for the blizzie fourms.

However, ive been browsing the alla forums for a while and wows fourms started to pick up.

very hard to know where everyone will post. hmmmmmmm

well in daoc they have thier own fourms and rarely daoc players come here for info.............

head fizzing out............

It will gather a large and health community.

You have to understand that not everyone wants or needs, a comment from a Dev(though many do).

Blizzard also isn't going to be handing people info on quests and such so this is another good meeting place for that. I expect WoW to have every bit of 400,000 subscribers so even if 1% of them use these boards, it'll be a healthy community.

Just look at the EQ boards for a good example.

Alla will still be as busy as it's ever been.

People will come here for quests, item descriptions etc..

And it's easier to use the forums to discuss those things are the same site then it is to use the forums on another site and link to this one.

I was posting in the blizzard forums a lot simply because there are so many people there and you get a responce so fast. I came here a lot for everquest information and to discuss everquest, but I believe Thotbot has almost all the info on items in game already and it's a free site. We will see.

Alla is a free site too.

Heard that Thotbot might not remain free after game goes retail and it starts getting more useage. And if it does remain free, chances are you'll see alot of ads appearing. Gotta pay for that bandwidth somehow.

Personally, I like Alla over Thotbot. It's better set up and easier to use.

The troll count is much higher in a blizz forum. Just look at the beta forums or any b.net forum for proof on that. Sure alla has 'em too but not like blizz.

Biggest advantage of this forum is the level of intelligence is above that of a brain damaged quail.

There was an argument on the Blizzard forums a while back when Alla himself made a post on the program used to gather all the info. A bunch of people started bashing him about how Alla isn't "free".

ALLA IS FREE!!! He only charges money if you want to use his search engine for the site which either he or someone put together. He doesn't charge for any of the information or for you to post.

Also while I can't post the info being that the thread is on the Blizzard forums and the thread is buried Alla has already stated (correct me if i'm wrong Alla) that Thot will be finding a way to cover his bandwidth usage either through Ad's or a similar method like Alla.

Half the people here have a 2 brain cells compaired to blizz posters 1. Just a matter of preferance.

I mean, EQ has its own forums, but Allas EQ site is still always strong(but..it IS sony were talking about, no one likes going there).

Initially this site will not have many more posters. Then as more and more people get sick of dealing with the ******** in the official forums, they'll start moving to unofficial sites like this one. Sadly, eventually the attention-deprived drama queens will catch on and follow suit. So expect three phases:

1) Relative silence
2) Bustle of useful posts and productive community
3) Infestation of spam
