Well, I didn't exactly get to finish, since I didn't devote my week to it and the servers are down to mark the end of closed beta...but since closed beta is ending, I figure there's no point in posting if I don't do it now.

You can find my photobucket account here:
http://photobucket.com/albums/v332/Azuarc/

I was planning on filling up 3 folders with Azeroth by region, 3 with Kalimdor, 1 with instances, 1 with maps, and 1 with other miscellaneous silly pictures. You'll note that a couple of those folders are sorely lacking.

In general, I tried to take three pictures of each zone - one panoramic, one close-up of a creature or something, and one active picture. I didn't always succeed, considering having an active picture almost requires you to be questing in the zone, and I didn't have time for every zone, so some areas just have whatever I had to throw at you.

My apologies for the proliferation of Night Elves in the foreground of many of the pictures. That is what I play, though, and seeing the characters is as important as seeing anything else.

I also apologize for any bias that comes with my selection of screenshots. They were all taken by me, and they contain no PvP raid pictures, or examples of many of the other nuances of the game, as well as a few incomplete maps. If I had time, I would have gotten to these things.

I *really* wish these were more convenient a viewing format, or at least that the pictures had tags on them. Thanks Photobucket. I recommend you click on the first picture, and scroll forward one at a time - at least that way they have numbers.

I'm going to describe what's in each folder, one reply at a time, starting with the maps.

WoWspecial
Picture explanations, beginning with the WoWspecial folder to put things in perspective...actually, I just want to comment on the two continent maps. The rest of the maps in the maps folder speak for themselves.

Anyway, ignoring my Teldrassil guide picture, there are the two continents in this folder. The "Eastern Kingdoms" is also knows as Azeroth and the zones are numbered as follows:

NORTH AZEROTH (generally undead) -
1) Tirisfal Glades. Haunted farmlands. Undead starting zone, containing The Undercity. Zeppelin to Ogrimmar in Kalimdor. Levels 1-12. Instance: Scarlet Monastery. Levels 32-40.
2) Western Plaguelands. Plagued farmlands. Neutral zone controlled by the Scourge. Levels 50-60. Instance: Scholomance, school of necromancy. Levels 56-60.
3) Eastern Plaguelands. Blighted countryside. Neutral zone controlled by the Scourge. Levels 55-60. Instance: Stratholme. Levels 60-60.
4) Silverpine Forest. Undead zone. Levels 12-18. Instance: Shadowfang Keep. Levels 20-30?
5) Alterac Mountains. Neutral zone, controlled by ogres, rogue humans, and the Kirin Tor. Levels 30-38.
6) Hilsbrad Foothills. Neutral zone, controlled by humans and undead. Levels 20-35.
7) The Hinterlands. Grassy wilderness. Neutral zone, controlled by NPC trolls, high elves, and simply wildlife. Levels 40-48.
8) Arathi Highlands. Neutral zone, controlled mostly by loyal humans, rogue humans, and ogres. Levels 30-40.

CENTRAL AZEROTH (generally dwarf) -
9) The Wetlands. Bog. Dwarven zone, with ports to Darkshore and Dustwallow Marsh in Kalimdor. Levels 20-32.
10) Loch Modan. Lakeside region. Dwarven zone. Levels 12-20.
11) Dun Morogh. Snowy mountains. Dwarven (and Gnomish) starting zone, containing Ironforge. Levels 1-12. Instance: Gnomeregan. Levels 30-35.
12) The Badlands. Rocky wasteland. Neutral zone, controlled by dark iron dwarves, ogres, troggs, and wildlife. Levels 35-42. Instance: Uldaman. Levels 38-45.
13) (between the N and G in Kingdoms) Searing Gorge. Volcanic mountains. Neutral zone, controlled by Dark Iron Dwarves. Levels 40-50. Instance: Blackrock Depths. Levels 50-60.
14) Burning Steppes. Ash-covered mountains. Neutral zone, controlled by wyrmkin. Levels 50-60. Instance: Blackrock Spire. Levels 55-60.

SOUTH AZEROTH (generally humans) -
15) Elwynn Forest. Gentle countryside. Human starting zone, containing Stormwind City and Keep. Levels 1-12. Instance: The Stockades. Levels 22-28.
16) Redridge Mountains. Craggy hillside. Human zone. Levels 16-24.
17) Swamp of Sorrows. Neutral zone, but with only Horde outpost, controlled by draenor? and wyrmkin. Levels 35-45. Instance: The Temple of Akai'Hakkar. Levels 48-54.
18) Blasted Lands. Neutral zone, controlled by demons and corrupted wildlife. Levels 48-55.
19) Stranglethorn Vale. Indian jungle. Neutral zone, controlled by goblins, trolls, and anything else you can name. Contains Booty Bay. Levels 30-45. Instance: Zul'Gurub. Levels unknown.
20) Deadwind Pass. Eerie chasm. Neutral zone. Levels unknown. Future instance pending.
21) Duskwood. Haunted forest. Human zone. Levels 20-32.
22) Westfall. Prairie. Human zone. Levels 12-18. Instance: The Deadmines. Levels 20-25.

And now for the other continent, Kalimdor.

NORTH KALIMDOR (mostly Night Elves) -

16) Feralas. Rain forest. Neutral zone, controlled by Night Elves and Horde, ogres, and wildlife. Levels 40-40. Instance pending.

WoWmaps

This folder contains maps of all the zones listed above that I managed to finish exploring. The map starts off clouded over, a la fog of war. You don't have a section revealed until you explore it, and only know the overall shape of the land until then.

For instance, this is an unexplored map, that as you progress, will eventually become more like this.

Anyway, worn out yet? Let's get to some real pictures already!

These will be handled in numerical order even though sadly that is really in no order whatsoever. (Doesn't even resemble the order I uploaded them, I don't get it...)

1) Tirisfal Glades. A farm near the undead town of Brill.
2) Tirisfal Glades. A pair of recruits from the overzealous Scarlet Crusade, that cares only for purging the undead (and everything else that is not part of the Crusade.)
3) Tirisfal Glades. External view of the ruins of Lordaeron.
4) Silverpine Forest. Worgen in an overrun town in the south end of the zone.
5) Western Plaguelands. The tomb of Uther.
6) Western Plaguelands. Running through the town of Andorhol before the Scourge behind me catch my purple butt.
7) Western Plaguelands. Rogue fighting undead in front of one of the eight cauldrons (that are for a particular quest.)
8) Silverpine Forest. Just some random windmills.
9) Silverpine Forest. Took this as I was running by, levitating over the nearby lake.
10) Hilsbrad. A Tauren hunter fighting a human peasant that realizes the end is near and is running away. The arrow is a hunter ability.
11) Hilsbrad. Undead NPCs starting to mount an attack on the human town of Southshore. This is a scripted event after one of the Horde completes a certain quest, and used to spawn way too many skeletons.
12) Hilsbrad. The undead town of Tarren Mill from afar.
13) Alterac. A yeti walks by, leaving footprints in the snow.
14) Alterac. One ogre making a desperate stand against a group that has already killed two of his comrades in the Alterac Ruins.
15) Alterac. The domed city of Dalaran. There is no way to get inside. The animation of the dome doesn't look quite as good on a still frame.
16) Eastern Plaguelands. Desperate humans enlisting the aid of a Worg-mounted Orc to help clear the infested land.
17) Eastern Plaguelands. A banshee approaches outside of a ruined town.
18) Eastern Plaguelands. OH MY GOD! GET IT OFF ME!
19) Arathi. Fozruk, a giant for a quest, walks by with his kobold entourage.
20) Arathi. The contested fortress of Stromgarde.
21) Arathi. A most bizzare quest-giver. The text is still scrolling onto the screen.

Central Azeroth

1) Dun Morogh. A gnome talks to a dwarf NPC in front of a siege tank at Steelgrill's Depot.
2) Dun Morogh. One of the two (mostly) frozen lakes in the zone.
3) Dun Morogh. A few dwarves in the isolated Brewnall Village.
4) Wetlands. Overlook of the dragongate in the southeast corner of the map.
5) Burning Steppes. A majestic human statue in the middle of a town controlled by the blackrock orcs?
6) Wetlands. Murlocs now control the sunken ship Osprey, much to the dismay of anyone who needs to gather Lightforge Iron from the ship.
7) Loch Modan. A group fighting troggs. Two warlock voidwalkers dominate the center of the picture.
8) Loch Modan. The loch itself.
9) Loch Modan. A typical miner's greeting party.
10) Burning Steppes. A not-incredibly-friendly wyrmkin prepared to give you a task.
11) Burning Steppes. A cluster of imps dance around a pool of lava amidst the charred wasteland.
12) Burning Steppes. The Altar of the Damned.
13) City of Ironforge. The 500 square feet that represent the hub of the Alliance.
14) City of Ironforge. Gnomeregan might be in shambles, but the gnome king and company seem nice and cozy in the dwarven city. Well, maybe not, considering they all have quests waiting for you to take back their home.
15) City of Ironforge. Exterior of bank. Must be a quiet hour, this place is usually teeming with people.
16) Searing Gorge. The entrance to Blackrock Mountain, the connecting area between this zone and Burning Steppes that houses two major instances.
17) Searing Gorge. An NPC warlock and her pet infernal.
18) Searing Gorge. This place looks full of fun and excitement, huh? And lots of...red...
19) The Badlands. Vultures buzzing about an old carcass at Apocryphan's Rest.
20) The Badlands. A random ogre. I scrambled his brains for a little bit so he wouldn't attack me before I took the picture.
21) The Badlands. The outside of Uldaman, a very deep dungeon, from before when the dwarves tunneled deep enough to open the floodgates of trogg dwelling there.

South Azeroth

1) Stranglethorn Vale. Basilisks in WoW might not turn you to stone, but they can stun you for a fairly decent length of time.
2) Stranglethorn Vale. One of the many waterfalls in the zone.
3) Stranglethorn Vale. Paladin does battle with a mage that belongs to a clan of pirates.
4) Stranglethorn Vale. The neutral goblin town of Booty Bay. One of the two hotbeds of PvP on the PvE servers.
5) Deadwind Pass. Overlooking a ravine. There used to be ghosts in this area, but they were taken out when I took the picture.
6) The blue moon overshadows an abandoned and currently empty town.
7) Blasted Lands. A few group members fighting some demons near, hey...is that the Dark Portal?
8) Westfall. Fighting in the thief-controlled town of Moonbrook.
9) Elwynn Forest. A gold mine from a distance.
10) Elwynn Forest. Princess rules the roost of this pumpkin patch.
11) Elwynn Forest. And to go with that gold mine, a lumber mill. The peasant on the right actually carries lumber to this wagon and drops it off.
12) Westfall. My orange tabby overlooks Murlocs up and down the shorelines and amidst the wreckage of ships.
13) Westfall. My mage, for some reason, in melee combat with a boar.
14) Stormwind City. Picturesque view of the cathedral, the stockades, and the canals.
15) Stormwind City. If you're ever lost, guards will direct you where you need to be.
16) Stormwind City. The city is full of life, with NPCs walking everywhere and doing all kinds of things. Here, a mother going about errands with her two little ones. The gray text in the bottom left is NPCs talking out loud.
17) Duskwood. This zone is all about the Sleepy Hollow theme. There's even a bridge that looks just like the one in the old Disney movie over the river to Westfall, and a quest about a legendary long-lost schoolteacher.
18) Duskwood. Raven Hill Cemetary is the main hub for all quests in this zone. Respawn has me pinned on the steps of a crypt I was attempting to leave.
19) Duskwood. No WoW scrapbook would be complete without a picture of Stitches, the abomination that randomly attacks the town of Darkshire.

1) Winterspring. This owlbeast doesn't seem too happy to see me.
2) Winterspring. Neither does this chimaera.
3) Timbermaw Hold. This tunnel guarded by furbolgs separates the three zones of Felwood, Winterspring, and Moonglade.
4) Felwood. The Timbermaw actually can be friendly. These furbolg, however, are not.
5) Darkshore. Hippogryph flight leaving the town of Auberdine, with the docks and the town "lighthouse" in the background.
6) Winterspring. An old frost-covered bridge spans an icy ravine near a town of frost giants.
7) Felwood. These corrupted treants look like they're about to party or something.
8) Felwood. Like many zones, Felwood is a ghost of its former self, corrupted by fel moss and other unknown factors.
9) Darkshore. Onu, the ancient, gives a quest to a young rogue at his grove in the south of the zone.
10) Darkshore. Fishing at twilight by the piers of Auberdine.
11) Teldrassil. Ferocitas the Dream Eater cries out for battle, with his furbolg minions soon to follow.
12) Teldrassil. Owls are native to Teldrassil and found almost nowhere else.
13) Teldrassil. Harpies off in the distance of an otherwise-typical view of Teldrassil.
14) Moonglade. A giant dryad overlooks the city of Night-something. (Nightwatch?)
15) Moonglade. Typical example of the Greco-Asian blend in Night Elf architecture.
16) Moonglade. Another view of the city. Really I was just having fun with levitation for the first time.
17) City of Darnassus. This is my main character right after she got her mount, at the entrance to the main temple in the city.
18) City of Darnassus. Another look at the temple, from afar.
19) City of Darnassus. That bear-shaped tree houses the city vault.

1) Orgrimmar. The orc capital has been built up quite quickly in the five years since the war under Thrall's leadership.
2) Orgrimmar. And Thrall even has something for you to do.
3) Durotar. He said "zug zug" when I clicked on him.
4) Durotar. The Horde zeppelin, which transports players to the other continent for free.
5) Durotar. Viewed from across the river that separates it from the Barrens.
6) Azshara. Naga inhabit a great deal of this zone, especially the coastal regions.
7) Azshara. This ancient elven city was the site of the cataclysmic events that the Highborne wrought on the world. Today, appropriately enough, naga (High Elves twisted by magic) live there.
8) Azshara. Satyrs are also corrupted elves. This one seems to think he can toast me. (He was wrong.)
9) Thunder Bluff. This is the scene you are greeted with in the Tauren capital, right after you ride the elevators to the top of the plateau the city rests on.
10) Thunder Bluff. Riding a wyvern into the city, to make a delivery that might go bad. (Timer at right)
11) Mulgore. The impressive kodo beast. The first time I saw a pack of them in Desolace, I was awe-struck. Horde, and Tauren in particular, greet them at earlier levels. This one is just a calf, and yet the screen still shakes when it walks by.
12) Mulgore. Looking out at the grasslands on the way out of the main city.
13) Feralas. There are few places more appropriate for a postcard than this waterfall coming off the butte. Wish I had turned the UI off.
14) Desolace. The lighthouse that once guided the way for ships. Now only naga live in the waters.
15) Desolace. In general, there's not a whole lot living in this zone that doesn't scavenge.
16) Barrens. Overlooking the goblin city of Ratchet.
17) Barrens. Crossing the Barrens by night.
18) Barrens. A low-level orc warrior screams to the sky as he changes stances, while running through the tall grass.
19) Ashenvale. Hanging out with my furbolg buddy Krolg. One quest gives you a wand that enchants you to look like a furbolg so he does not react to you hostilely.
20) Ashenvale. Old Night Elf ruins in the northeast corner of the zone. There is a huge, currently inactive portal at the top of that ramp.
21) Ashenvale. A young miner striking it rich...or as rich as you can get with copper, anyway.

Sadly, I didn't get to these zones at all. These are only leftover screenshots from before my photo shoots started.

1) Dustwallow Marsh. The ocean regions of this zone fester with murlocs.
2) Dustwallow Marsh. An old cave overrun by spiders. As one NPC says, Darkmist cave is named for the spiders, or is it the other way around?
3) Dustwallow Marsh. The lone human bastion in Kalimdor and home to Jaina Proudmoore, Theramore, at dawn.
4) Un'goro Crater. The lush, leafy jungles might or might not hint to you what lurks in the wilds here.
5) Un'goro Crater. Amidst the hot springs and geysers, a dimetradon paces about in the distance.
6) Tanaris. Two night elves dancing perfectly in sync on the top of this tent by the gryphon master in the goblin city Gadgetzan.
7) Thousand Needles. The Shimmering Flats are host to a number of (sorta) unique creatures, most rare of them being the goblin and gnomish race car drivers!
8) Thousand Needles. My paladin looks like she's running away from this wyvern. Really she's winding up for a spinning attack that will finish him off.

Instance

You can't really go into an instance by yourself explicitly to take pictures, but some of the neatest battles come from them, so I still had a few shots.

1) Zul'Farrak. Standing atop a ziggurat, looking out over a crowd of trolls. There's far more down below than you can see.
2) Uldaman. The boss, off-screen to my right, looks like these little statues, but a lot nastier. Not surprisingly, they spring to life as the battle rages.
3) Uldaman. This is some sort of city floor model on the ground in one part of the dungeon. I took this picture because I thought I might find significance in it later. I haven't yet.
4) Sunken Temple. Performing a summoning ritual at this altar is the goal of one of the quests for this dungeon, and is no small task to reach...
5) Sunken Temple...in part because you have to fight this guy.
6) Sunken Temple. Picture when the zone first opened, back when all classes could learn to track. I'm currently tracking dragons on the minimap.
7) Scholomance. My guild completes a raid on the school of necromancy by attacking the lich that presides over the dungeon.
8) Razorfen Kraul. My guild on beta 2 decides to crawl through this dungeon in its entirety, without anyone knowing what to expect, and certainly not a giant killer warthog to attack us!
9) Gnomeregan. My first experience fighting the end boss of the befouled gnome city. By his green skin, I'd say he's been irradiated like all the other lepers still in the futuristic city. Very difficult fight now that the bombs work.
10) Blackrock Depths. I look out a window at the inside-of-the-Death-Star-like core of the area.
11) Blackrock Depths. Most of the foes here are dark iron dwarves or fire elementals, but there are a few gnomes with their contraptions here as well.
12) Blackrock Depths. A very familiar view when doing this dungeon -- running back to the dungeon as a ghost!
13) Blackfathom Deeps. My group assaults the hydra boss Aku'mal.
14) Blackfathom Deeps. ...right after disposing of the sub-boss of the zone, an Orc warlock that leads the cult in this subterranean temple.

Miscellaneous

This is where all the silly pictures went, as well as the stuff I didn't know what to do with.

1) My uncharted map example. (This is Dustwallow Marsh.)
2) The paladin charger mount outside of Ironforge.
3) What can you really say about a treed pig?
2) Here's another view, before he realized this isn't a thru-way.
3) Sitting at the Deeprun Tram between Stormwind and Ironforge, looks just like a gnomish subway. (Actually, it's a dwarven subway.)
4) Another view of the tram station.
5) My paladin greets you from the character select screen.
6) The spirit healer, who can revive you for a price in experience, when you die.
7) I don't know what hunter is trying to charm that sheep, but that's just sick! (The creature is polymorphed.)
8) A close-up of my character a long time ago, when someone asked me to send them a pic of what I look like.
9) Hellloo, Captain Obvious!
10) This is probably my favorite screenshot I've taken.
11) A tasty meal lies in store for my character at this inn.
12) There are other high elves in the game, but I took this picture due to the uncanny resemblance the outfit had to a naked High Elf from Everquest.
13) A bug with herb spawns. There were more stacked on top of that spot than you could even tell. I think I harvested about 8 times.
14) Riding a gryphon over the ocean by night.
15) Paying homage at the cathedral in Stormwind. Due to a server glitch, all the NPCs that are normally here were despawned.
16) The picture speaks for itself. Well, maybe aside from my lewd conduct in the corner of the screen.
