I'm 14. I'm guessing a lot of younger gamers will be playing WoW, this is understandable because Warcraft games are incredibly popular among the younger players and with the older players for good reason. Anyway, I think it will be interesting to see the ages of people who play this game. When I get WoW, I'm hoping to join a guild filled with people around my age.

I'm 34. I started RPGs in their "pen and paper" form with the original D&D when I was 8. I look forward to WoW as from the little bit I got to play of it, it's more fun than any MMORPG to date. I also started a guild for like-minded players who are looking for a casual yet mature play environment.

I'm 15, though very mature for my age, so I've been told. I might be interested in joining your guild if I get the game, Kerik. I'll probably be going Alliance, is that ok?

I'm 32 years old. Been playing FFXI for about a year. Can't really stand the grind there anymore. That's what is attracting me to WoW....having three kids and all. I played it during the stress test and had alot of fun. I am hoping for open beta soon since they posted the end of closed beta here: http://www.worldofwarcraft.com

I don't feel age is a good measure of maturity(or intelligence for that matter), that's judged on an individual basis.

24 here, and finishing my last year of college. I'd have been done two years ago if I hadn't dropped out with depression that later became a dependency on playing Everquest. I'm looking forward to a game that hopefully doesn't ensnare my life completely so my medication can do its thing. (Still wondering what "endgame" will bring exactly though.)

16 here, and proud of it. Started playing as a console gamer for the Genesis, and went through many more untill I got Warcraft III, which hooked me on the world of computers. Ever scince, I've played many games, including SWG, FFXI and such. Always liked RPGs, from my console roots to Neverwinter Nights. WoW will be definitly my next game. Hey Kerik, your clan seems interesting. I'll check it out, if you don't mind.

I'm 21 yrs old. Went to college for half a year when I was 19 but quit to get a job to support the family. Plan to go back to college for art next fall. Remember, folks, the real world is tough but I'm sure Azeroth will treat me better. ;)

Pretty nice distribution between the lower teens and mid-thirties. At least no one's posted something stupid like "OMG, you shouldn't be playing MMOs if you're over 20..." Ah well, I'm sure it'll come eventually.

And, 22 on the age thing.

Have played FFXI for around 7 month and mostly disapointed about it... but I still like FFIV and the later...

I haven't decided yet if I'll leave DAoC for WoW.
Neihter if I'll go alliance or Horde.

28 here. Been playing RPG's for...like since before I could read. I enjoy MMO's but still prefer the old school pen and paper ones more. First pen and paper was D&D and just about every other one after that. One of my favorite being Shadowrun.

Like I said I am new to the whole MMO thing and don't really know what to look for in a MMO. WoW sounds very fun and I am looking forward to when it comes out so that I can read some more oppinions on the game.

32.

Began Rpging about 16 years ago with a game called Star Frontiers.

I have always been into war games though, and to this day DM a campaign in the Forgotten Realms that has been alive and well for at least 12 years.

I'm 40 and been playing FFXI for about a year now. I began playing the old pen and paper D&D back in the early 80's. Married, 2 kids, and a software engineer. Mostly get to play on the weekends. I pre-ordered 2 copies of WoW so my 15 year old son and I can play together. Look forward to seeing you in Azeroth.

I would say 20, most of mmorpg are college age, some are older and of course some are younger. WoW might have a slightly younger average compared to games like EQ but ill say 19/20 as the AVERAGE. Not necassarily the most of that age though =)

42 here in December, like many others I started with pen and paper RPGs (D&D) in the late 70's. Have played a number of MMORPGs over the last 3 or 4 years with my son who graduates high school this year. Looking forward to seeing just how many of us can fit into a newbie area when Wow hits the streets. If the quality of the first stress test is any indication Wow will take off like a rocket.

Oh yeah, I have two other younger kids that are chomping at the bit to play MMORPGs as well, they may have to wait though. I hope Wow comes with a family plan =)!!

See you all on line!

I actually started with NeoPets and ToonTown when I was really young, and then FFXI when it came out. Later, a friend of mine directed me here, and I fell in love. When the stress test ended, I went through pretty much every free MMORPG out there, and now I'm just biding my time with Civ3 until I can play with my baby again. ^_^

19, I've been totally unaware of Blizzard Entertainment until now. Started playing EQPC in 99, first MMO ever. After quitting EQ I thought MMORPGs were filled with nerds, so I played FPSs for a few years then gave a second try at MMOs and I started playing Planetside. Heres my Online story!

I am a 42 year old house wife who started out gaming with D&D paper back in high school. My first MMORPG was Ultima Online. I started that game in beta and hooked up with the guild who wrote the guide book on the game. I became addicted to computer games and have not stopped playing. I have an 11 year old son who plays as well and my husband and I met online in EQ.

Here's the count for those of you not counting!

Over 20 yrs old: 20

Under 20 yrs old: 9

If this holds true when it comes to the population of WoW come retail, I guess the term "Bnet kiddies" will not apply here! Then again, I have seen older people act like child in vice versa. Guess we'll find out come retail!

By the way, I'll rate ya up. This turned out to be a good thread. It gives people a good idea who will be playing in terms of age and debunks some rumors.

Monthly payment usually gets rid of a good amount of "kiddies" of any kind really. There are the spoiled ones that have people to buy the game and pay monthly but it definately cuts it down. Kiddies also get bored of games like this after a while - they play all the time cause they have nothin better to do so they keep playing, start whining, move on to the next MMORPG and leave us all alone. There are also some but WoW wont have any more than other MMORPGs in my opinion. FF11 prolly had the most, if they were kiddes they were idiots and jerks for the most part, i knew some awesome people in that game but there were lots of dum dums. There were also some in EQ (alot less granted). This is just my opinion and all but i dont think BNet kiddies will be much of a prob.

15 years young here, been playing games since i can remember, the first time was in our old can playing NES, not super nintendo, the regular one. Then just kept expanding from there. I play a lot of different types of games, i really enjoy Sport games. Never really liked RPGs or Shooters till i saw SWG being advertised (being the SW fan i am) so i bought it, played from week 2, loved the game, till i did everything, so i quit just before space was realeased. I have also beta tested L2 ( and bought it) guildwars, SWG: JTLS and the list goes on. in the past year or so my gaming world has expanded beyond belief and i find myself loving a lot of new style of gaming.

Anyhow i ramble on too much, Sounds like the New stress test is commming up soon, the worldofwarcraft.com site is down, so lets hope for the best.

Hope to see you all on WoW

oh and questionator....please define kiddies, because i have met lots of people in RL, and in MMO's that are the same age, or very close to my age, and are very nice, respectful people. Dont put people into one group, cause i know alot of Adulties that are stupid too.

yea yea i made up the word adulties...wanna fight about it?

30 here. I played D&D back when, never really got into RPG on systems. Dragon Warrior and Legend of Zelda series some, never finished. Started playing FFXI with the PS2 release. Enjoyed the crap out of it, but started to get to the point where my play-time didn't allow me to ever exp. although farming made me quite a bit of money, but nothing to spend it on.

Looking forward to WoW, will be my first PC game.

I think these boards are going to be great. The "kiddies", although around my age, will be bothering the offical WoW forums. Just by looking at these boards I can find a great deal of maturity, hopefully, it won't turn into the FFXI forum fiasco. I think Allakhazam has a great community here and I'm glad to be a part of it.
