Question, is this anything like what WoW should be? Are the controls going to be similar?

I'm sure I'll d/l it when I get home anyways, looks interesting.

So far, I really am liking it, except for one thing...

every time I switch zones it takes me 10 minutes of downloading to get the new area and I'm on a DSL [coughsuplungs] line.. :(

Lol i actually got a lvl (takes a few hours) and a rare weapona nd stuff , finished the quest in harbor and became a knight of the mantle then i started loading something, and it said "cannot complete load" or something and everything (exp/items/quest) i had got that lvl dissappeared. Guess im done with that game lol.

Yeah, I'm downloading that huge patch right now. Ugh, takes a while.

It's actually pretty fun, I made an elementalist/ranger (don't ask me?) and as soon as I got in I joined up with 3 other guys who also just got in, we explored for a couple hours and just killed random stuff. That right there is the true golden moment of any MMORPG :)

Guild Wars is a very, very well done game. Beautiful? Yes. Fun? Yes. Perfect? Meh...lets not get too excited...

The biggest flaw this game seems to have is the horrid loading system. I have cable and it took me half an hour to load into a quest zone. I will be buying this game as a time killer for downtimes with WoW and such but WoW will remain my top MMO ^_~.

Props to Arenanet, though. Guild Wars looks to be a awesome new game from them.

I cant play GWs. Everytime i do, i get to run around for about 3 minutes then the game freezes, my mouse curser does some wierd stuff, and i have to reboot my system. meh, it looks good too.

Just want to say I am pleased with the fact that a game other then WoW can be discussed here kindly without flaming and such (unless its FFXI...)

As a present, rate up for all ^^

(Just a hint about the rating system. use either the best or worst score when rating. please dont use decent or good, they hurt some people more then helping.)

Good is bad, eh? Talk about a oxymoron....

Thanks for the tip, Alekan. I'll make sure of that next time.

I dont know what everyones deal with loading is. I have some of the worst load times in history and I load zones in a couple of seconds(sometimes theres a few new files i have to get,and random patches in which i have to relog). Now lag in PvP is another story...*stands still while he runs across the field only to find that because of lag he was stuck on a bush.

Seems cool so far, but its not WoW!!! waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!!!

I have trouble with using right click for camera view, I always hated use mouse for camera view though. I didn't like the control very much.
It seems that they give you a char already lvled to 15 (max lvl is 20) with skill already chosen for you. I got 1/3 of lvl on the way to arch gate, It seems will be too easy to max lvl. Anyway, I was done with the game when some kids requested my char to join him to "make sweet love" O.O

Just played it for about 14 hours with my friends...its okay but you dont really feel like you are progressing at all

not much content either really...you just go into a mission and kill things and it gets boring after awhile

pretty graphics tho

Pro:
It is FUN. Lots of action and easy to learn but alot of variety with skills. The graphics are amazing, some of the landscapes are just drop dead stunning. The missions are tailored TO YOU really making you feel like the hero and having specific goals. I played a war/necro with my RL buddy on teamspeak playing an elementalist/monk and we had a monk henchman healing us. The henchmen are a great idea, it is so nice not having to play or find a healer.. just have a computer one follow you around! And they are GOOD at it! We had a really good time exploring and working thru missions.

Con:
Could be too easy for many people. Virtually no death penatly. If your party dies it simply resets the mission/area and sends you back to town. Easy to level and levelling makes your skills & spells a bit better but you don't get big HP raises and such.
Didn't even try grouping with the general populace, they seemed pretty bad overall.
Armor upgrades- they seem to have some bizarre crafting system where you can salvage craft parts from drops then pay a NPC crafter to make items from those parts. I started lvl 15 with studded and to get an upgrade to half plate will cost HUGE amounts. I got to 17 in one night and could not even get close to upgrading one armor slot. Couldn't find any weapon crafters or merchants at all.
Most of the missions seemed longish, well over an hour. This could cause problems in people with limited play time. Think LDON runs with alot more detail and scripted events.

Overall I enjoy it but it won't compete with WOW for me. I may get it when it finally comes out to play when I'm bored.

I guess the question is, is it worth looking into? EQ2 vs WoW, I've made my decision. Does this have any potential to throw a wrench to that?

It's a fun diversion, but not anywhere near as engaging as WoW. WoW hooked me the first time I logged on; it was intuitive, fast paced, and fun. Guildwars is fun, but it's more of a Neverwinter Nights or Diablo II style; the areas & quests are very linear, and gameplay just isn't as exciting. Overall, it's entertaining, but can't compete with Wow for me.
