FFXI suck..SE not to blame.Follow

#1 Oct 26 2004 at 2:17 AM Rating: Default
You cant blame SE for how much FFXI suck..

SE dont make many PC games. They have no experience in making PC games, so the UI in FFXI will suck, because its catered more to the console gamers, which SE specialise in their console RPG series.

Another complain is that there are many problems of FFXI, but SE just do nothing about it..this is because SE have NEVER, or VERY SELDOM make any online games. All their games are TOTALLY single player, so they have no experience in when to make updates, and when to put in more content, or what things to change.

However if SE dont learn their mistakes, and continue the same things in their next MMO, then its their fault.

Ok, I think we changed the month from whiners whining about whiners to why I hate FFXI...oh joy.

I'm sorry that you hate FFXI... but this happens to be the WoW forum, aka not a sholder to lean on for all you people that wasted money on FFXI and now hate it

BUT, while we are on the subject, FFXI is also for PS2, and its failure has nothing to do with the physical game itself, its all content that no one likes. And SE makes plenty of updates... but SE is no the kind of company that is going to change the whole structure of the game b/c some ppl dont like it

FFXI doesn't suck, it's just not the game for everyone. There are people that love FFXI.

There will be people that will think WoW sucks.

Not everything is for everybody.

It's one of the things that makes life great. Imagine how boring it would be if we all liked the same things.

It doesn't suck. Everyone can't like every game.

The cross platform idea behind Playonline is awesome. Sure the UI will not meet all of your expectations because of this, but come on, they did something that many have failed at.

SE fixes tons of problems! The people who you hear that they don't from are people who don't want to work for what they get. Yes, there are some problems such as gil farmers and such, but check out IGE's site, SE isn't the only company not facing this issue. And we can only wait and see what Blizzard does too.

exactly right!

Also being that WoW is coming out over 2 years since the original FFXI release, Blizzard has seen the areas where SE failed and can greatly benefit off this.

New game vs. 2-year-old game: Bad comparison.

Another thing about releasing on two platforms that is bad is that you pretty much limit your own games lifespan. Look at most other mmo's once they start to look dated or something then they get a graphic overhaul. You cant do this with the ps2 because its already being pushed to its limit as it is. Not to mention the limits on models of characters, mobs, armors etc. Personally i think if your going to make a cross platform game the pc players should have more options graphically sorta like eq has where you can choose to use newer graphics or older ones.

First off, rate up for good points. But the PC version of FFXI does have the option of better resolution and also many other things to improve the overall appearance of the game, although many people crank it up too high and then try to blame glitchyness as if it is laggy servers.

But back to WoW, I can't wait for it to come out. Although, I probably will still keep FFXI for a bit until I am sure that WoW is for me.

Honestly, I can't see why people compare MMORPGs. Each one is tailored for different people. It's not the same as comparing one First Person Shooter to another one. Game dynamics are COMPLTLEY different between MMORPGs. FFXI, for example, focuses on group mentality. WoW dosen't as much. FFXI has a job system that makes you work very hard to get anywhere in the game and the storyline is very slow to reveal itself. WoW's story, from what I've concluded, is built on the quests you do. You start quests when you start the game, and a lot of them you don't need to rely on other people for. You need people to get anything done in FFXI.

Stop comparing the two and calling one better than the other. I've had FFXI since it's North American relase, and I will also be getting WoW. FFXI does not suck.

Honestly, I'm tired of you children who keep touting WoW as some sort of miracle child. It will have it's own problems. Wait until you've played both games for a reasonable length of time, THEN for an opinion. And remember to call it an opinion, not a statement. Anyone calling WoW better than FFXI gets a rate-down from me simple because they are being stupid and they are uninformed.

There is no reason why we can't blame SE for making a poor game just because they have no rapport for that type of game. Blizzard has no experience with MMORPGs either, and I have every confidence their's will be WAAAY better than FFXI. (Granted, they have done computer on-line games, but I don't consider that a style of play. FFXI is for Playstation 2, and SE has made those games before.)

Actually i can blame the ingame community for making FFXI suck. They are the ones who forced the perfect job combo idea. They are the ones who forced the perfect party idea. They are the ones who forced the you have to have Uber item A idea. They are the ones who ***** the economy. I hope that WoW doesnt have the elitest attitude where everything must be perfect when it gets released.

i was roaming the blizzard forums and came across this thread about how long the people are going to play a day. Most of them said around 6-8 hours a day, and some said 10+ hours. VERY FEW said less than 5 hours.

Whoa..blizzard is going to have a hard time pleasing the high levels a month after release.

I'm going to make this post short and sweet:
If FFXI sucked, why should we protect SE? I don't think it does, but it doesn't make sense.

That's because the people that play less than 5 hours a day don't waste an additional 5 hours per day on the forums to see that thread.

Because it is the cesspool of living which many people are brought into the world of mmorpgs at.

Dont think of it as sucking, think of it as purgatory.

I just thought of something...you say SE shouldn't be blaimed because its their first "attempt" at an MMO? Well then, IT IS DIRECTLY THEIR FAULT THAT IT SUX.

Lol.

Honestly, it's this kind of childish attitude and elitism from a game you haven't even played yet that is making me question wether I want to be a part of this game or not. What is the point in bashing a game on a different forum? Seriously? if you want to talk about something, and how WoW is so great, point out everything you like about the game in a logical, comprehendable manner and then compare it to another MMORPG you've played giving pros and cons. FFXI is teh suxxors" only proves that the old Battlenet stigma of morons and adolescents is alive and well.

Please, for everyone's sake... please try not to act like you're twelve.

Edit: Yes, that is me rating people down. if you can't say anything productive and are just insulting a game and its user base, then there is no point in your being on any forum.

LMFAO at your elitist attitude...do you think we haven't even played FFXI? Surely you must be an idiot...why would someone bash a game they have never played? Lol...

You misinterpreted. I mean you haven't played WoW, or played it enough to form a valid opinion on comparing it to FFXI.

And I'm not elitist... I just outgrew bashing games/people/whatever because I got tired of it/didn't like it and think that something new will be the be-all, end-all of games.
