I have been reading the beta forums just listening to people and yes they do complain a lot but the biggest thing they complain about is the game not being finished.

From what i get they are mad because the end game (past lvl cap) isnt implimented yet. they say that if the game is going to be released any time soon they give blizard a month to have it in before people complain. personaly i think its sad if people hit lvl 60 in a month. They dont realize that there is game pre lvl 60 they just lvl grind like mad until they hit 60 then complain. they should slow down and actually play the game. especially the closed beta people. they should hang arorund help people have general fun with the game other than the lvl grind we all know about. But you know it wont happen people are going to get the game lvl as fast a physicly posible and then be pissed that the game isnt finished.

It just makes me mad that people cant slow down a little and enjoy the game.

Their simply stating a fact. The leveling speed in WoW is known to be rather fast and not a lot of people are into tradeskills and running around every peice of land they can. A lot of them do quests and the such, which just speed their leveling speed. If the endgame is unfinished, thats a problem. There is such a fast leveling speed that it wont be rare to have a high level character, and if there is nothing to keep you playing that high level character, playing another character up to the same level cap will get to be VERY tedious.

The game is coming out VERY soon, sooner than a lot of people make it seem. a month(give or take a few weeks) is not a long time to add all of the content they are promising while keeping other things balanced and polished.

What the beat testers need to realize is that Blizzard is holding back a lot of content (such as raid content, battleground, and other high level areas) because they want the beta players to have something new to do once it is released. Hero classes should be in at release, or very soon after.

Most of the testers don't seem to realize these FACTS. I know that Blizzard is doing this because they stated as much in posts on the general boards.

If someone wants to level grind to 60 in a month, that's their right.

They can level as fast as they want. If they get to lvl 60 and run out of stuff to do, oh well, they can be bored.

Isn't the leveling speed in place so beta testers can test the higher levels quickly? Maybe they will slow it down for retail.
#8 Oct 26 2004 at 1:26 AM Rating: Decent
Few points to point out here.

1) Blizzard already said that they are happy with the leveling speed, so stop saying that they will change it come retail.

2) The leveling speed is abit fast, and i hope they will make it a little slower, but its quite alright. No big problem here.

3) Yes, i think some people will just rush through the levels, but thats their problem. They are wasting their money. They dont take their time to enjoy the game. As for me, I like crafting alot, and exploring seems fun too, since i like the world of warcraft. Plus, i will go for battlegrounds from time to time, so that will also help to slow down.

4) Since the quests you do are different depending on your race and faction, there is a very high replay value, so people will probably create another character after their first 1 is done, or even play a few characters at the same time.

Its not even a matter of slowing down that should **** you off. If they do slow down and do as many quests possible, its just delaying the fact that when they are done with the leveling, they will be pretty much forced to play another character because there is nothing but instance farming.

If there is no high end game, then the game overall is not going to last long.

Not to mention that different people have different scheduals and even with "slowing down" they will hit the level cap pretty fast.

The game is about to be released weather blizzard likes it or not, so the beta testers are showing that they have nothing to break the tedium at the endgame.

Saying that other people are playing the game wrong because the game is not finished yet is not the way to go about things.

In other words, THEY HAVEN'T SHOWN THE BETA TESTERS EVERYTHING!!

The beta testers are complaining because if they haven't seen it, then it must not exist. That's a rather silly mentality when they already know that Blizzard doesn't want them to see everything. **cough, cough, HEROCLASSES, cough, cough**. Do they really think that's the only thing Blizzard is holding back??

Heh hero classes are all but forgotten now adays. If anything they need to be tested more than other things.

I'm all for holding back on high end raiding content and the such, but things like hero classes, racial abilities, and battlegrounds are in need of testing before they hit the game.

People aren't talking about Hero classes because Blizzard already said they would come out until release because they wanted to surprise the beta testers with them. Knowing this, what is there to say about them? That doesn't mean Blizzard isn't working hard on them or that they aren't even finished(though I find it unlikely myself that they would be finished when two classes will only be getting talents in the next patch).

I'm sure these things are being test internally. The biggest issue in Battlegrounds is PvP class balance and testers have put that to the test already. While your concerns are very reasonable, I'm sure they are being taken into consideration. I personally can't wait to see what the deal with them is.

Racial traits are almost finished and may not be in the next patch, but they should be in before retail release.

All in time. I believe they know what they are doing and can't wait to see it all. Any MMORPG is a work in progress through out its entire life cycle. WoW will be no different. There will always be a need to tweak this or that.

Its true that things are always getting tweaked, but theres a reason there is a test server come release for mmos. What happens though is that if they hold too many things back for release then we are all going to be playing "test servers" without the name.

Wouldn't be suprised if everything that was saved for release was buggy save for maybe the encounters late game because its really nothing new except stats.

Well, time will tell, but they are testing internally. Keep in mind this IS Blizzard we're talking about. If it was SOE I'd be worried, but with Blizzard I'm not worried at all.

Like I said in another thread, you can think Blizzard is being forced to release early all you want but that just isnt the case. I do agree that Vivendi is putting the pressure on, but its quite clear that Blizzard isnt ready (hence the open beta delay) and the game will come out when they want.

Blizzard has released EVERY game they made when they wanted. I cannot think of a single game they made to be incomplete or slighly buggy at release. Hell, even Blackthorne and Rock N Roll Racing were delayed before they were released on the Genesis and SNES.
(Yes. I've been an avid supporter of Blizzard for a long time.)

The fact of the matter is that every just needs to find something to keep them busy until we have official release or open beta info from Blizzard themselves.

I for one just got into the Matrix beta today. I just hope it doesnt suck too bad.

in reguarding to the lvling speed. Blizzard does have it hit dead on correctly. My cousin (Yaitza is his ingame char) in ffxi hit lv 60 in 1 month (he has alot of time in his hands hehehe. and yes he didnt have any good gear) it is possible, if you spend 12+ hours a day (and thats how much time those bneta testers spend)

When i played the stress test, i saw me lvling my cool tauren take just as long to hit lv 5 as it took me to get my mithra char in ffxi to lv 5.

as for blizzie not adding all the content, Thats expected, they have so many people beta testing the game and if they give all of the content for free, theyre gonna lose alot of those people from buying the game 9why play it all over again if i played the wholse game for free and seen everything the game has to offer)

I've been in Matrix beta, but WoW "Stress Test" spoiled me. :P I really have little desire to play. Servers are down Monday and Tuesdays so maybe tomorrow I'll log in. They've re-done the tutorial and did a character wipe, and changed a few other things, so maybe I'll give it another go.

Good luck to all those just starting, hope you enjoy it. I personally prefer the fantasy themed MMORPGs though.

Yeah, those beta hours are weird. Do other games have limited test times?

#20 Oct 27 2004 at 12:08 AM Rating: Decent
I've been in the MXO (matrix) beta too. It seems like it has lots of potential but it still needs some work. The hours are actually sort of a good idea because they get focused testing. Maybe i'll see you guys on there tomorrow :)
