Engineering and gnomes :: World of Warcraft

I've noticed that the Engineering is simular to EQ tinkering which is gnome only. Do gnomes in WoW have any advantages over the other races when it comes to Engineering? Like, is there certain things only gnomes can make or use? Or any plans to give gnomes special bonuses to engineering?

engineering is not gnome only in wow. gnomes receive no bonuses with it. gnomes go squish when I sit on them.

I wouldn't discount the possibility that Gnomish racial traits might affect their engineering (since most racial traits are NYI) but as of now an Orc engineer is just as competent as a Gnomish engineer.
