I've decided to compile a collection of pictures to show what each of the respective zones look like. I'm planning on sticking two shots (or maybe more) of each zone in my photobucket. While I'm doing this though, I have a question for everyone...

Is there anything in particular you want to see, or suggestings on what to capture, while I'm cataloguing the world? I'm not going to take ALL scenery shots, because I don't think that alone shows the zone in context very well. I have lots of pretty SS's. I want to take good shots, but also be fairly representative at the same time. (And of course I can take extras along the way.)

Take pictures of the least cartoonish areas. Show these to the people who refuse to play WoW because they saw page 1 of screenshots on the official site (which had a lot with the undercity and glowing/neon green crap...really cartoonish) and thought the graphics were terrible. Most of the places are cool, and the graphics are mostly great. Prove the people who think otherwise wrong.

People like this, you cannot convince them. They will look at it and see it in their own light. "Cartoonish", yes, and it rocks.

Bring all of them to me, I will fight all of these people.

EDIT: PHYSICAL FIGHTING IM SERIOUS: Punches, Drop Kicks, Nunchuckaus, you name it.

I'll do my best on raids. I don't normally attend pvp-type raids, but I guess I'll keep my ear out for them, since I'm sure you're hardly the only one to want that. I'm in a guild that often puts 10 people together or so to raid one of the dungeons, (lately Scholomance which I have a few pictures of,) so I can get some PvE raids without too much difficulty.

For realistic versus cartoonish, I'm going to take what I feel looks "the best". I respect the desire to see some buildings and people though. It's often hard to get candid pictures of other people, I'm finding. I doubt anyone wants to see the town of Southshore with nobody in it though. (Maybe I'll start a character on PvP just to get a pic of some REAL fighting in Hilsbrad. =p)

Jungles and waterfalls are NOT a problem. If anything, I'm going to be working on not including too many of those. (You'll want to reference the zones Stranglethorn Vale and Feralas, kiky.)

Any other suggestions? I ran around the northern half of Azeroth tonight, but I got worn out before I finished, and that was just ensuring that my area maps were complete.

There is just so much great stuff to take shots of in WoW. During my 10 days of the "Stress Test" I took over 1,100 screenshots! That's about 110 per day! I wasn't even looking to take that many, I was only taking them when I saw something I thought was cool(which was about 110 times a day lol).

Heh, while I don't have quite as much of a pension for hitting the printscreen key as you do Kerik, I definitely agree. I was absolutely stunned at the marvel of this new world in front of me, something that I would have hoped to have been able to say about Everquest 2, since I was coming off over 3 years of EQ.

I suppose that's part of why I want to do this - to show potential players just all of what there is; I'm doing this with more of a cartography point of view in mind than a true screenshot library. I don't think I have the time or dedication to single-handedly create a truly comprehensive almanac, but I'm going to see what I can get in along the way.

Other comments/suggestions still more than welcome.
