If you go visit the battle.net forums you'll encounter not 1, not 2 but hundreds of people who act like they are 5 year-olds.I read a post (don't have link) that people called a blizzard dev ******* and tons of other innapropriate(sp?) words, just for saying something about the servers being down. Are all these kids going to be playing WoW? I think the only way WoW will become a failure is if all these children start invading the servers. So, will these people be in WoW? I know there are a lot of stupid people in MMORPGs but i'm saying will there be TONS of these types of people?

Well if you have ever played a MMORPG (which im sure you have played plenty), then you know that there are inherently stupid people (of all ages) all the time. The best thing to do is use the /ignore command and to find a good guild. DO NOT join a guild until at least lvl 20, otherwise you get sucked into a newbie guild and you cant escape. I have not played of course (wishes i have) but really other people can only annoy you as much as you let them. Just dont let them bother you, when i first started playing MMORPGs i was like 13 and i was annoying too, as i said, the best thing to do is just play the game and make friends that arent dipsy doodles. Theres gonna be plenty of idiots, nerds, a$$ holes, jerks, wimps, funny people, annoying people, strange people, etc etc. It takes all kinds to make a world. If this post seems irrelevant i apologize lol, i thought it was sorta on topic. Basically just dont worry much about it, have fun and dont be a jerk / idiot / coward / annoying lol. And above all dong respond to the above mentioned - it just makes it worse lol.

One thing to keep in mind is that many of these people are just milking the free ride that comes with beta. They don't see it as an opportunity to test the game and make it better, but rather just to play the game period, as though it were the retail version. They're leeches, plain and simple.

Many of these idiots will not make it into retail, instead going to find yet another game they can play for free. I guess you can always take heart in that.

As for the rest, well, I guess we'll just have to deal with them. It sucks, but such is life.

I played the Stress Test, it was free, so you would imagine all those stupid people would be there.

However, I never met one person EVER that I didn't like.

True story.

Message-boards and chat-rooms tend to bring out the worst in people. People who think they know it all ruin it for those of us who actually do. :D

Generally it isn't as bad in the games themselves, but as said above, there are, and will be, idiots everywhere and anywhere you go(they outnumber us smart people by about 100 to 1!(and that's a conservative estimate)).

If you've played any other MMORPG, you already know how the live games will be. PvE servers tend have less of these people than PvP servers.

Disclaimer: Not every FPS player is like this, nor is every person who likes PvP! The better PvP and FPS players though do know exactly the types of people I'm talking about: The KeWl DoODz hoo R L337 and will PwNz Joo!

Just so you peeps know I think these people are being totally unreasonable but there is a reason everyone is mad. Last night the WoW site went down and threads started going OMG here comes open beta!!

Then a employee posted saying that it was just a server issue and has nothing to do with open beta which won't happen "for a while" So people have gotten pissed that Blizzard went from soon to "a while" But today Cat said the employee that made that statement knows no more than he does and was just tlaking out his *** but there is still no word and pretty much said it could happen now or a year from now and won't say anything past that which is pissing the masses off even more.

While I think they are acting totally childish I can't say I blame them Blizzard coulda chosen a lot better words than "soon" for OB if they didn't know when it would happen. So they are getting what's coming to them.. Even if i won't resort to it since I just wanna play a game that's as polished as it can be.

I'll be more than happy to point you to the F&R section of my Everquest server's discussion boards, if you think that the people HERE are stupid. Mind you, all the people who are idiots on Luclin server are in the same two guilds, so they're pretty easy to avoid most of the time.

Have you never been a victim of all the idiotic racist/sexist/bigotted shouts in FFXI? I don't think nay group of gamers could be worse than the ones SE attracted by simply slapping FF on the game. All these idiots that are used to playing console games and don't know how to interact with real people...WoW can't be any worse than that.

When I played the stress test, I met a few not-so-smart people and one or two jerks, but that was it. (However: having a not-so-smart person as the tank=not good.) It's pretty easy to find cool people, and once you do you can hang with them for anything you can't solo. Occassionally you'll find posts in the Blizzard forums where people talk about the good people they've grouped with, or how such-and-so really helped them out. An MMORPG brings in all sorts of people. You have fun with some, deal with others, and ignore the rest-- just like real life.

Yeah i think if anything messes this game up for me it'll be the immature people but thats what /ignore is for.

Well, i to was in the stress test, and i never met ONE annoying person or ********* so it made it all the better for me to test the heck out of it without being sidetracked by sum ****** saying i killd his mob and now he will spam the log box until i leave. The best way to deal with this is one, leave if its a PvE server or. . .hehehe. . .if its pvp and ur a higher lvl pwn him and teach him a lesson in his mannors. I know kill him would inturn make me an *** but thats only if they were really gettin on my nerves. So usually id taek the latter and walk away. I wont let ne one ruin my experiance with such a good game thats not even FINISHED, its great just how it is, but there is always room for improvment.

I want to mention two things here:

1) I think a part of the reason Blizzard list "Soon" for the open beta is in part because they are already ADVERTISING the Open Beta. I just got my Dec issue of PC GAMER and there is an advertisement in it that tells you to go to the official site and download the open beta. Now anyone who sees the magazine and goes to the site at least sees that it will be starting soon, rather than going to the site and not seeing any word on it. I do think it will be soon, but rather have not seen it say "soon" a month before. A week or two is the longest away I would have hoped soon would be. :P

2) For those who played the "Stress Test", you'll remember that we sometimes had 4,000 people on a server. Blizzard said they aren't expecting to put so many people on a server at any given time and that was just for the test. Point being, I think the Stress Test was a good indication of how people will be during release. Sure, there will always be a few idiots, but over-all, the good out-weighs the bad. I personally didn't have a problem with anyone. I did make fun of someone who was begging though. I said "Are you kidding me?? We're ALL broke you idiot!!"

There are idiots in every game and idiots tend to be more vocal as it were. The way Blizzard runs their boards leaves alot to be desired but as a former VN Mod I have to say its not easy. I sent several emails to them with concerns on how the boards reflected on them. I got back emails promptly stating they are trying to improve them. * shrug * anyway my point is as others have stated... its not like that in game. The people who post like idiots do not get groups or if they do its in pack of idiots. Take your time and find a good guild and play with friends. You will find there are alot more MATURE players than Idiots. Idiots just post more ;)
