wow that's very cool that definitely shows the detail and thought of the history and world blizzard put into the game.

makes me look even more forward to playing damn you *shakes fist*

rate up for posting those links to some very nice pics.

Also wonder if there is any notage of Arthas's father or for Murodin? (sp?) I should hope so.. Probably not for Murodin since he died in Northrend though. =/ Oh well Northrend is a big part of WC history it makes no sense at all they left it out so it must be content they have planned for their trademark next year expansion. lol

Let me put it this way. One of the two ways into the Undead capital, the Undercity, is via the late King Terenas' throne room. You know, the room with the big blue "Lordaeron" seal, the room that's the scene of the human intro movie and extro movie. Pretty much everyone who enters there realizes where they are and instantly screenshots.

As for Northrend, let's put it this way: the entire continent is under the grip of the Scourge. Northrend is the seat of the Lich King. Um, that would be a dangerous place to go. There probably will be some kind of Northrend content in an expansion, but expect it to be VERY high-end (hero raid-groups, anyone?)

What one Beta tester wrote about the throne room where Arthas killed his father.

Quote:
Only been in the beta for a couple of weeks now and just now made an undead character and began exploring the area.

After tooling around the newbie areas a bit I went to check out the undercity and found myself in the Ruins of Lorderon.

Making my way inside I immediately recognized the architecture from the Warcraft 3 Human campaign cinematic with Arthas returning victorious to the cheering crowds. I saw the bell that rings triumphantly, and I even thought that I could still hear the ringing of the bell, just barely audible. Then I pushed in further, seeing the area where the crowds rained flower petals on Arthas and cheered his victory. I thought that maybe, just MAYBE I actually heard them cheering, then decided it was just an eerie quirk in the music.

Futher in, the throne room. The place where Arthas took the life of his own father, reproduced in amazing detail from the cinematic, but still worn by time and obviously haunted by past events. The music in this place really showed that there was history here and if I hadn't known that history I'm sure I would've have sought it out after this encounter. Turning around in this room admiring the attention to detail, I could've sworn I heard voices. Stopping and listening very carefully I did indeed hear the voice of the King echoing through the room, amazingly well done. Perfectly subtle, the sounds felt embedded in this place, and I felt at the same time foolish for believing everything I had heard was all in my head and incredibly, INCREDIBLY impressed at the ambience, at how amazingly interesting just passing through a couple of rooms on the way to a city could be. I guess that's what they mean by, "the World as a Toy".

exciting or wha?

Wow.. /e takes a second to be stunned.

I am so glad I got in line of Blizzard wayy back in 1998 (When I got Starcraft), I wish I'd have been born even earlier than that so I could have experienced from the beggining 'till end, but, unfortunately, I was born in 1990, and only 14 currently.

I really enjoy the storyline, I remember seeing a screen of the Humans (I actually forget the race, but I think it was humans..) fighting Tichondrius (spelling?), very, very, very, VERY nice, I love the storyline.

Thanks for sharing that ;).

Since WoW is "starting" 3-4 years after WC3 I'd hope there would be alot of references to the WC series of games.

It is supposed to take place in the same world afterall.

Put it this way: it's obvious there will eventually be expansions, and they need to be into lands within the WC3 universe. Sure they can start making up continents beyond what is known and somehow filter it into suddenly being mainstream like Kunark and Velious were in EQ. But wouldn't you rather go somewhere familiar? And once the low-end content was done with the base version of the game, wouldn't you want Blizzard to focus on high-end content, that Northrend would be ideal for?

Actually, the very northeast end of Lordaeron has no zones associated with it either. The farthest north you can go is Stratholme. The home of the high elves was on that northern tip you can't get to, although I might add that there is a small area for it in the Eastern Plaguelands, and blocked off by fallen trees and stuff, so maybe Blizzard has plans to add an entrance there long down the road.

You're right, Azuarc, there's no mention of Quel'Thalas (name of High Elf homeland) thus far. Given that the area has very strong ley power lines and that Kel'Thuzad himself was turned into a lich in just that area, do you suppose it's safe to say he's hiding up there? If the Scourge decided to rebuild the place's defenses I imagine it would be darn hard to assault.

Northred is definatly going to be an expansion.

Other ideas-
Maelstrom- land of the naga and the sunken well of eternity

Draenor- the orc homeworld- now a desolate wasteland

Quel'thalas- yeah probably a good place too.

Would also love to see another burning legion invasion where the races need to ally to win 8)

This is from the official story section of the WOW page.

Quote:

Currently Arthas, the new and immortal Lich King, resides in Northrend; he is rumored to be rebuilding the citadel of Icecrown. His trusted lieutenant, Kel'Thuzad, commands the Scourge in the Plaguelands. Sylvanas and her rebel Forsaken hold only the Tirisfal Glades, a small portion of the war-torn kingdom.

Thanks for the great pics, really makes me excited to get in there and explore. Only bad part is now I have to make an alliance character so I don’t get shot up searching out all of the historic areas over there.

I am so terribly excited about all of the things to do and find in this game. It would be interesting to see the old wold tree trying to heal itself, maybe you can even watch it grow. Did you notice any of this on Mt. Hylal?

Valefor - you can't get to Mount Hyjal yet. No idea what remains of Nordrassil. The Night Elves live on a new tree they cultivated, named Teldrassil. No idea on Cenarius.

And I just read the beta tester account of the throne room. I had the exact same experience when I went there for the first time. It's very cool, and eerie too in that there is NOBODY around there, not one NPC. (The entrances to the Undercity are nearby, though.)
