WoW should close the official beta forums..Follow

#1 Oct 19 2004 at 6:02 PM Rating: Decent
The reason for the post is I believe some Beta Testers have lost their damn mind with the way they are posting on the official forums.

No matter how hard Blizzard is working at making a game right and no matter how many times WoW Community Managers post on the website with what little information they have been authorized to release, way too many people are doing nothing but ******** about WoW in one form or another.

Beta testers have /suggest, /bug, and even calling a gm for functionality in the game. That is and should be the way beta testers communicate with the developers and WoW staff. Calling out Blizzard staff on the forums is totally inappropriate.

If I was a blue on those forums, I wouldn't want to post or respond either. Blue is damned if they don't and even damed worse when they do. Those boards over there are pure hell on Blizzard staff. If I was them, I'd close those forums immediately and post news releases as appropriate on their website. There are too many flame wars and all out blizzard roasts on the official forums. I'm past feeling sorry for the Community Managers and am beginning to feel embarrased for them.

People need to realize that those in blue on the official website can only post what they have been authorized to post. Nothing more, nothing less. Please remember that.

See you in the game...

Concerning games in Beta phases...forums are usually the reason why most *nerfs* become reality. Nothing we can do.

I'm not worried, I read all this crap about nerfs, and HERE comes the Stress Test. I played every class, and what do you know they are ALL fun to play!!! Wheeee!!!

George Carlin says it best"Do you realize how low average human intelligence is? What's worse is that 50% of the people are dumber than that!!" (no, not an exact quote, but I'm sure it gets the point across).

Most people can't see past how things effect THEM. Some just don't care. Certain classes just aren't finish and they need to realize that it will be better once they finish the work they are doing. Sadly, they just care about how it is NOW! People are people, and sadly, most of them are stupid. That might not sound nice, but the truth seldom is.

It's not until people increase their levels of understanding that they will be open to learning. An open mind is a good start, sadly it's a rare thing. :P

The Blizz people are doing everything they can to get the game out "soon".

Once it is out, they will continue the tweaking and there will be regular, if not constant patching as everything continues to be added and balanced.

What is nerfed for release may be un-nerfed later on as retail users supply Blizz with constructive input.

It went that way with all MMORPGs I have played. It may be years before the patches slow down - but then there will be expansions later on, and more tweaking to do.

I too find the immature babbling and whinings of many of the CB posters in the Blizz forums to be tiresome, but there are many more who have constructive suggestions and have added immeasurably to the quality of the game we will see in OB and finally retail. The game is not finished, and those who have been playing the closed beta for all this time really do have the best feel for the world and continue to have much to offer.

I believe that you should get 3 strikes on nonconstructive criticism or just plain stupid posts, then they cancel your beta key and give a new one to someone else. Also im sure there are probably some beta people who havent contributed anything in months so they too should be kicked.

lol Someone woke up in the right side of the bed. (/sarcasm off) Judging from his sig, he must be disappointed at the lack of open beta. Funny how that ad appeared in the December issue of PC Gamer and yet we still are in October...

Anyways, please don't close down my beta forums ;_; I need my daily entertain of idiots complaining why the Horde has no "pretty" characters and the usual "nerf class/spell/ability/talent" threads. Seeing it go makes Redmoon sad ;_;

They need to close the general forums and keep their class forums open, then ban any off topic posts and posters... they will soon get the idea. Ya know... it kinda reminds me of house training my puppy :) Rub their noses in it and toss em out.

One thing I've recently noticed... many of the people who complain about class X are listed as L60 Xs. Given, it's going to seem like the end of the world if something changes for THEM, but if someone starts over with a NEW character on that class, it may seem perfectly balanced. Not to mention, the folks at Blizzard know what they're doing, even if we don't.

Having more than one perspective about a situation is a blessing indeed.

You know,

I wish there was something we could do to keep Alla's board from degenerating into what it sounds like WoW's main board has already become.

Everyone reading this should make a pledge to keep all their posts, however opinionated, at least civil to some degree. If one sees one's post starting to catch fire around the edges, the easiest way to extinguish the flame is to simply stop posting, it only adds fuel for those who cannot argue responsibly.

I suppose I'm disheartened in knowing that eventually these forums will turn into something similar to blizzards main forums, and that these pre-release days of being able to quickly locate valid and unbiased information will not last forever.

Viva la revolucion!

You know, I've re-read the original post and thought about it a bit and came to a conclusion....

People won't be any better with their posts come retail, but there will certainly be a lot more of them. The only difference will be that they are paying to play and whining that "this game was supposed to be complete and ready for retail, you call this ready??" I expect most of these rants to be little more than that. Any MMORPG will be a work in progress through-out its life. Things will never be "perfect". All I can say is I'll gladly pay to play.

I have started over on the same class about 5 times, playing to at least level 15 or so every time a major change has been made. When I have made comments based on how an item sucks, it was usually in light of this. A perfect example is the five-second rule -- this actually hurt my low-level character more because mana regeneration is significantly higher before level 10. I found that playing my lowbie priest was MUCH more difficult, beyond what I felt was reasonable for a beginning player.

That is also why a lot of players chose to start on beta 2 when it opened. There were recent changes to tradeskills, to other facets of the economy, and on this server, everyone was starting from scratch.
