Today I was browsing on this site and the a publicity appeared........YAY! I won a prize!!!! 1,200$ USD in Walt disney dollars!!!

but it was fake...

I don't know if the the same in the states but.....in canada we don't have to pay to claim a prize, and this in asked to do it..... so if any of the administrators of this site could maybe remove this ''fake'' to don't disturb anyone with it (just drained 2hours of my time) or maybe jut tell to me if in the U.S.A it's ok to pay to accept the prize via the phone (hey...they asked my credit card number via phone!) without signing anything..... it'll be helpful for me to understand why I am so disappointed right now.......(BTW if anybody out here can tell me the law about contest&prizes in the U.S.A it would be nice)

BTW, I know it's maybe not the appropriated place to write this down... but pardon me, I didn't now where to write this.

Ehh, don't worry about it. We don't have an "off-topic" forum yet, so this should suffice.

Erm, in my own book, that would be fraud (by the way, you said $1200 USD in Walt Disney dollars? Which is it, USD or WDD?), which would be considered illegal. However, I know that it's still done in the US (Publisher's Clearing House, for one), so there must be some kind of loophole or other, or maybe the law doesn't exist. If you can manage to get something official that somebody signed, then you can use that in a court of law, if necessary. But I'd be very, very suspicious of this; you have good reason to be so.

NOT fraud...I can almost 100% guarantee that somewhere in tiny writing there is a loophole...

Don't worry about adds/popups, if you do, your internet experience may not be fully enjoyed.

Please keep all hands and arms inside the vehicle and have a nice ride!

Ok, thank you Yolondo to have answered my question.....law system is fuzzy sometime (well for my opinion!) and you are right it was 1,200$ WDD because it was money for Walt Disney =)

If you ever see anything claiming you won a prize ignore it. The only way any Internet prize is claimed is through official e-mail. Believe me you will see the difference.

Any window, banner, or anything that shows on an active website is a scam or not worth the shipping fee they charge. Never trust anything you see online anywhere, even me ^_^

Sorry about the trouble but the U.S. is a free zone for this because if it isn’t ok to do it here they base their company out of the U.S. and then they proceed to reroute the domestic traffic overseas and out of North American jurisdiction.

If you didn’t open it, ignore it, Always.

Edit ------------------ Content

I almost forgot to say do not completely blame Allakhazam for this ad or its content. Usually advertising conglomerates purchase the space from websites and then resell this content to unscrupulous companies so that webmasters cant block out the crap companies who will take advantage of site members.

Remember the people who conduct business like that are thieves, and they will do anything to get to your money.

Finally if you don’t ever want to see these then pay for a subscription. The only way we can enjoy this experience for free is if someone else pays the advertising. Servers are not free or I would have my own website. I consider it revenge against these companies who try to take advantage of me by forcing them to pay for my enjoyment.

another reason you may have popups is because of spyware issues. they can get on your computer and cause you to get random popups no matter what site you are on. you man even get popups when not on a page at all. if your popup problmes persist i would look into getting a spyware blocker off the internet add-aware is a decent one and its free if you dont already ahve one (and if you already know about this stuff sorry but it may help someone)

I reccomend you do this so save yourself from most of this fraud.

Yes it was spyware in your computer, ever since i did what im gonna tell you to do I NEVER had that ad and anyother add appear other than the site im visiting, That evil add did not appear anymore inside the allakazam page anymore.

1st get ad-aware se by lavasoft. once installed have it get its updates and run the smart scan, and after that run the full scan.

the 2nd product you want is spybot search and destroy. Make sure when your gonna get it those are the exact words, there are alot of crappy immitators useing the same words but in a different order. Once installed get the updates and run.

last but not least make sure your running service pack 2. go to windowsupdates.com and download it. After you run both ad-aware se and spybot search and destroy.

Your computer will be completely clean of spyware and ad ware. services pack 2 will from that point on stop any pop up from showing and spyware.

Dispite how good sp2 can be i reccommend you run a adware scan every week and a spyware scan every 2 weeks.

NOTE: once you clean your computer head to allakazam.com, after visiting a few pages go to ad-aware se and youll noctice that youll find a few adware items into your computer. this happens every time you go to allakazam. with sp2 they wont pop up however dont let em accumilate into your computer thus the scan once a week is reccomended.

Both ad aware and spybot search and destroy are free. there is a special edition of ad-aware which youll have to pay for but do not need.

hope this helps. also you dont know how vernible your computer is without service pack 2

On the immunization section listed within spybot there is a suggested program called Spyware Blaster that is also an excellent program. It doesn't scan through and remove spyware, it prevents it by blocking alot of the java exploits that are becoming more prevelant. With spyware blaster you just need to make sure you run the updates and re-apply the protections to get full benefit from it. Ever since i instaleld spyware blaster i havent had a single piece of serious spyware on my computer (tracking cookies are inevitable, pretty much harmless, and necessary for alot of websites anyways).
