I've just noticed how delaying the OB is affecting everyone... it's creating a dire need to play anything, ANYTHING in order to get an MMPORPG fix while they take their precious time perfecting the game. It's insane. I've perused (almost) all of the free games out there, and now, if they don't release soon, I'll have to go on to the games I have to pay for. I'm thinking about Civilization 3 (played a demo for it and loved it), but after buying that and WoW, I'll have completely destroyed the money I saved up over the last month. ><

Out of curiosity, what have you all been doing?

Playing Final Fantasy XI^^ As for open beta don't count on it anytime "soon" :( Yesterday an employee made a few posts in the worldofwarcraft forums saying We don't know when it will start then later saying it's out of our hands we're waiting on green lights. ^^ Classic Blizzard hyping crap they only posted that message to answer all the fans pouring in from reading that ad in PC Gamer.

So it might be wise to get another fix until it comes out.

Yeah, I figured that stuff. I was just wondering about the "getting your fix" aspect and how people were coping.

Man, the more I read these forums, the more it seems I'm the only one not really neeeding a WoW fix. Maybe it's just that life is busy with school and other games, but I'm not really anxious about when Open Beta will come around.

Granted, I do check the community page every couple of days to get the latest news, but I've kind of resigned myself to the fact that they'll get to it when they can. Did they mess up a little by saying that it was coming "Soon" when it's been nearly 2 weeks? Yeah, a little I suppose.

As for what I've been doing to kill time (since that seems to be the point of the post), studying, working, finished Doom 3, workign on a Dragonlance campaign, and sadly playing a little SWG when I have some spare time (ie. doing none of the above).

I actually think I was more anxious waiting for the stress test to begin, as I made it through both WC3:RoC and TTF, Xenosaga, and a couple of the MegaMan games off the Aniversiry Collection.

Anyway, good luck guys, don't let the wait drive you crazy.

You know...I don't really need a WoW "fix", I'm just tired of playing FFXI and am eager to get my hands on a MMO I'll actually enjoy. I just can't bring myself to log on to FFXI any more because I know how frustrated it'll make me.

So I've been playing Madden, the Sims 2, the Frozen Throne (again), and Day of Defeat (it's great for a free online game). I'm reading American Gods by Neil
Gaiman. I've also been working and such but I assumed the question was about leisure time so I guess that's it.

I have got to this point. When I began reading that Open Beta was comming soon I got all hyped, but now it has all faded. Now I'm idley sitting back and waiting. although I do check the Beta Site at east 3 times a day, I don't get the same feeling I used to, that excitement.

As for me, my time is basically taken up by work, and social problems... Yes, women -_-'. But other than that, I normally play some DDR and chat on the internet.

Hmm, what do I do. Went out and bought Return to Castle Wolfenstien (Xbox), Goblin Commander (Xbox). Went thru Warcraft 3 and Fozen Throne again for the 3rd time, brought out Empire Earth, Age of Mythology (Titan expansion also) and my all time favorite game Ghost Recon along with the expansion Island Thunder. Been reading The Icewind Dale Trilogy by R.A. Salvatore and rereading the Wheel of Time books by Robert Jordan. And when I am in a mood where I think EQ will not **** me off I play that.

Well not so much EQ annoying me, but rather it's hard to play EQ anymore because of wanting something new so bad. And yes, even thought about logging on to SWG (OMG, must have really been bored when I thought of this) and messing around for a bit.

But besides that, checking the WoW site alot, reading WoW forums and the like.

Picking up Fable for my roomie, will likely watch him play if I don't actually play it myself (have done this in the past, I'm in it for the plot, not the thumb twitching). After that we got Halo 2 coming up (massive plotlines, especially for those of us who played Marathon back in the day). Needless to say I've got plenty to keep me busy, I just want it now damnit!

I got the Open Beta Blues,
From my head down to my shoes,
I been playin' Diablo 2,
But I really need somethin' new,
I got the Open Beta Blues

DL'd every movie that I could,
Even some that weren't so good,
Watched them til my eyes turned red,
It was way past time for bed,
Maybe just a little more,
Unreal T 2004,
I got the Open Beta Blues.

CB'ers say we all should wait,
'Cause Blizz will make it much more great,
It's just because they all know,
Their accounts will have to go,
So they all just hope and pray,
that there will be one more delay,
'Cause they got the coolest stuff,
And their warriors are all so tough,
And it will all just go away.

So I watch what the blue boys say,
Maybe a hint they'll give away,
But about OB they just say nothing.
Lest a delay make us think they're lying,
'Cause they are doing everything they can,
To give us a complete but expandable land,
Where we can play both day and night,
To toil away or join a fight,
To tame a critter to be our friend,
Or travel to town - our weapons to mend.

If they could only let us know,
A day, a week, a month to go,
then I would not have to stop my day,
To check again what they might say,
I got the Open Beta Blues.

================================

If someone could post this to a Blizz forum, I would be indebted to them.

I have read a lot, watched a lot (there are some good movies on suprnova.org) and I am more than ready. I'm just glad I didn't start this addiction until last month.

At this point, I would be happy with a simple, daily, blue post saying "NOT TODAY" or "NOT THIS WEEK" so I could go on to something else without having to check back several times to see if maybe they posted the magic link to OB. Coming soon just doesn't cut it.

How many requests do you think they'll get the first day?

Gromper

Open Beta is driving me crazy. Stress test wait wasn’t nearly as bad as they straight up said this will be whenever the heck we feel like having it. Oh and none of us really knew how great the game would be back then. I honestly missed the first two days because I had not checked the site or my email. After the Stress test we had validated WoW as the best MMORPG ever, or at least I had. Soon generally a week or less, so were all confused. Yes this is Blizzard the champion of pushbacks, still they usually pushback around a month or more before release. We are under 3 weeks from intended release and even the retail outlets are going crazy, I could not get the same answer from 2 stores, even if they are from the same chain. This means that Open beta should be open within a few days. Normal is about 3 weeks out open starts. 2 weeks out it closes, and the game is sent out for publishing. Nothing is normal about this, nothing. I totally understand the confusion everyone is going through as this fits no known examples.

As for myself, I am really enjoying this time, well kinda. I am enjoying this time, as much as I can, that sounds better. I am working on my Guild and its structure. My guild will be a military inspired raiding guild. I have many of the official documents finished, they just need to be revised for loopholes and clarity. This will be an interesting guild structure as there will be a new system for rules and regulations. I am nearly cloning the Marine Corps (4 years Semper Fi) system of regulation, then adapting it to the conditions of online play. If any of you were in, are in, or just love the military please let me know. If people are interested I may start posting some of the info. As of yet I have no place to host a website or forum so I can’t link anything, sorry.

Hope this doesn’t Hijack, but there are more than enough open beta forums, I wont feel too guilty.

Make the best use of the time, painful as it is. This way you will be able to jump right into the game. Work on guild stuff, research characters, and write out RP bios. Prepare yourself for a wonderful experience, whenever it is.

Once again, this stems from the fact that Blizzard has not set an official release date. Anything you hear from any other source is just guess work. Plain and simple. It seems they know when the game is coming out about as well as we do. Do not believe anything you hear unless it's coming directly from Blizzard, and even then, you may want to add a week or two to it just to be on the safe side.

Very Simple:

All guesses are just that - baseless guesses.

On the Blizz forums: If it ain't in blue - it ain't true.

We all want it, but we can't have it til Blizz is ready.

They won't say, so we get to wait.

It don't matter what we do or say or complain about - OB will happen when it happens.

When it does - we will all enter the World of Warcraft - and rejoice!!

Taken a liking to Fable, at least in the interim. Having been a mage in FFXI, I'm realling liking the way majick is handled in this game. Hell one quest kept me occupied 45 min... I"m half an hour past my bedtime already (d'oh).

A word to the wise tho, the really cool kick everyone off of you spell... Don't use that in the middle of a crowd inside the Guild tavern... got fined 4500 gold... couldn't pay, they kicked my *** out!

Force Push sucked. Get ignite. Has the knockback, does a helluva lot more damage, and only hurts HOSTILE people, wont hit merchants or guards unless they're red. Managed to get my combat multiplier up to 51 in the graveyard using it ^^. That and Multi-strike are the best spells.

Try downloading the Tribes Vengeance demo. You can play online (with other players of course) and its practically like the full version. This will keep you occupied for about 3 days. It's fun and all, but I couldn't help noting that Tribes 2 is better. And yesterday I pulled out my dusty starcraft CD, and its odd how the common sense you get with age can make you better at this game, lol. Counterstrike gets old too fast. I don't care who you are-if you played this game about a year, people start accusing you of hacking. "That was BS romulux, u wana get banned??!!1" "OMFG there is no way you could have seen me go behind that wall. Just turn them off dude." "That's 3 headshots in a row." lol you get the idea....and im not saying that im really good, cause im not, ive just been playing a year, and anybody else who has played that long will be as good or better.

Also...I still have my subscription to Lineage 2 going...If you were considering trying this game out, don't. I'd say it has about 3 months left before everyone is gone. There are no new players. There are more bots/farmers than ever (ask if you dont know what these are) , and the level grind is too much for me. I'm stuck at 31, and the highest level is 70 or 75 (I get to actually become the class I wanted to be at level 40...), I don't even know because nobody in North America has reached it, at least not to my knowledge. I'm aware that there are games with bad experience grinding, but I can honestly say that Lineage 2 is going to be in like the top 3 worst xp grind games of all time. And then I hear how easy WoW is to level....it could be a big change :P .

Unfortunately, most of my spare time is spent on Lineage 2. And the reason I haven't just given up altogether is because my clan has some cool people in it that are fun to talk to.

And yeah, since the announcement said soon, naturally I anticipated it. I found the IGN talent calculator and already made up my mind about my template. However, I don't remember who posted this, but some guy mentioned that "soon" is a relative term. That explains why they used it. I didn't know about WoW nearly as long as most of the people here. Apparantly it was already being talked about a year, even yearS ago. In relation to its first announcement, OB could start in December and be "soon."

Come on WoW OB, I need help quitting Lineage 2.... :)

Ya, played Lineage 2 most of the summer, playing quite a bit and only got to lvl 43 by september 20th, it suddenly got really boring and dumb (was a gradual thing) and i quit lol, thinking i shouldve stuck around a bit longer seeing as WoW OB could be a while.
#23 Oct 20 2004 at 7:47 PM Rating: Decent
If you want to come back to Lineage 2, this probably isn't the ideal time. People keep claiming that when C2 comes out, the game will rock. But they must understand that all C2 is, is just like a dozen new skills spread over all the classes, then some new insanely expensive weapons and armor that nobody in North America or Europe will have a use for, because they aren't level 8,000,000+. Now these "farmers" will be able to use these new things, and they will become even more unstoppable.

Also, WoW OB will probably come out before C2 in Lineage 2.

btw, what class did you play? human wizard here, i planned on becoming a necromancer, but will probably never get there

just know, you aren't missing anything, all i'm doing now is rerolling new level 20 characters constantly to keep myself interested (1-20 is actually pretty easy, but then it goes WAY downhill from there). And like all the others, I'll probably PK a bunch of people and get a ton of karma on all of my characters before I leave.

meh....WoW will rock all aspects of Lineage 2, besides perhaps graphics. There is nothing wrong with WoW graphics, but I must say: Lineage 2 graphics are absolutely stunning. The gameplay just isn't there...

peace
