Are you kidding? You assume "soon" is a week? Or even 2? Christ, you're lucky if it's a month from now.

This just reminds me of the 1.10 patch for D2 that was coming "soon". I waited like what, a year? I stopped playing D2 long ago, but correct me if I'm wrong, IT'S STILL 1.09.

Alas, I have my homepage set to http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/ and everytime I open IE, I cross my fingers and hope for some kind of update.

Please, Blizzard, you've let me and millions of others down oh so very much in the past. GIVE THE PEOPLE WHAT THEY WANT AND WHAT YOU PROMISED US!!!

/end rant

Denied...

Waited up untill 3:00 am est (12:00 pst) in the hopes they woudl start the open beta signup on monday (today).

Oh well ill have to wait another day to try and feed my addiction. Maybe when the first guy gets into work he will flip the switch that opens the beta, and shuts down the blizzard site for a long time. I wish I could see the ping numbers they get when they do flip that switch.

In my opinion ( opinion mind you) is that OB sign ups will be a rolling admissions type thing. Once you sign up you can download it right away, usually open betas are done like this, otherwise whats the point in signing up for an open beta? If it was another way it would just be another closed beta lol. ( im gonna get some flames on that one). Its just my opinion. maybe singups will start around the 24/25 and continue till the day before release (usual for open beta). Just my 2 cents , most likely wishful thinking.

Good post Draven. As far as the Blue text, it really means that any minute it could get a green light. Sadly, it could be weeks also though.

In other words, nothing has really changed as far as we're concerned. :P

Lord Draven isn't related to "Eric Draven" a.k.a. "The Crow" is he? ;)

Edit for grammar. :P

This is pure torture Blizzard!! I think I have logged into EQ a whole 2 times since the announcment of the OB. Out of fear of missing it and the fact that I just don't find much enjoyment in the game, knowing that WoW is so close at hand. Can't read, can't sleep, can't really do much of anything except check the WoW site for the ever hopeful OB update!! Driving my wife crazy, driving my friends crazy, driving me crazy....think it's time to call the shrink.

Well another day without any info... I'm starting to think that theres no way Nov. 15 will be the release date. If the OB don't start by Oct. 25 I think we can kiss NOv. 15 goodbye. Well atleast I got into The Matrix Online beta, hopefully it will be decent enough to help pass the time till WOW OB.......hopefully.

I expect Open Beta by November 8th | 10/22/2004 4:41:10 PM GMTDT

Why? EBgames just moved up the release date for EQ2 to 11/8/04. They rarely move a date forward like that unless they have been told something by the distributor, so I am guessing that is an accurate date. So the obvious marketing strategy for Blizzard is to go to open beta just before that date. That offers players the choice of playing the mostly polished World of Warcraft for free or buying and paying for EQ2, which most people agree is not really ready for release.

I'm just guessing here as well based upon how I would market it, but I would not be surprised if they did a complete character wipe leading into open beta and then let the players keep their open beta characters at release. (This depends of course on how long they intend to do open beta and how many changes they anticipate once it starts. Much more than a few weeks, or too many major changes, and they can't allow beta characters to stay for release.) This lets them completely undercut EQ2's release by basically offering gamers unfettered free game play just when their competitor starts to ask them to pay.

Just food for thought.

I'm like the rest of you, hitting refresh over & over on the WoW site.. this is soo depressing.

Please don’t post things like that, it just adds to the rumor mill. If that was the creator of this site don’t you think they would have posted that information here? At very least post a thread here on that information. If the site creator had info like that they would be trying to get traffic at this site, and make sure they had it in a very obvious article on the top page. It is not hard to created names like that under the former naming policy that blizzard had for the bets. I assume this is why they made the name creator much stricter.

You also notice they said something about open beta characters being allowed into release, which is totally false. There have been numerous references to the fact this is one of the few hard facts blizzard is giving about release.

Bottom line if you read my name as Bill Gates on this forum, or if I was Tryen that would mean absolutely nothing, as I could have just made them up. Do not believe a word you read about anything on that Beta forum unless the text is blue. Believe nothing, absolutely nothing.

I also beg of you, do not post these rumors here spreading fervor over non blue text. Oh and please do not take this as an attack. This is just a request and the support for that request.

Oh and the people at this site are just as clueless as we are, unless they happen to work at blizzard too.

I'm serious, Allakhazam has a dwarf char in closed beta and he posted his thoughts on their boards.

he said nov 8 so i was just passing that along to you guys in this long thread about when the OB should start

No doubt allakhazams in the beta, but the dwarf character he was using was most definately not the one he plays with. I mean, would YOU want all the tells of people saying things they liked/disliked.

Probably just created the name for posting so that there is no confusion.
