Will this PC Run WoW... ThreadFollow

#1 Oct 12 2004 at 7:40 PM Rating: Default
Just say how well it will run it or a YES or NO or something, I guess otehr people could post their PC specs, and we can just have them all here =P

My PC :

-2.4 GHz Intel Pentium 4 processor
-80 GB ultra ATA hard drive
-512 MB DDR PC2700 SDRAM
-128 Video Ram (ATI 9600 SE), I think it is like 8AGP Slot or something while I have 4 (Then again I didn't install it so I have no clue what that even means)
-Cable Internet

Can anyone tell me how well this will run WoW, I would get lag on FFXI on the highest setting, which is why I played it on Medium, on Linage II I would get lag once in a while, and EverQuest... well those graphics suck so no lag at all

Im going to say Yes, that should be just fine.

3.0 Ghz P4
1 gig DDR
ATI 9600 Pro

When I played the stress test everything ran real smooth, dunno if the Retail will require more.

1.8 should still run well, but you might not want to have your settings max. WoW specs are a LOT more forgiving than a game like EQ2 which doesn't even run that well on the BEST computer currently out.

WoW minimum specs are 800 MHZ!!

- GeForce 2 graphics card or better.

Like a champ.

I run it on far less than that, with all the vid options cranked up.

<Edit>

My POS

ECS K7S5A mobo
AMD XP 1600+ Processor
512Mb DDR 2100 Ram
20Gb WD 7200 Hard Drive
Gigabyte ti4200 128mb video card

..

Yeah thats whats pertinent.

Amd 2400+ XP
512 DDR
ATI Radeon 9600SE
80Gig HD

i hopefully will be able to run it nicely.

I just upgraded my computer so I won't have a problem...

BUT...

I had AMD 2200+ with around 750MB Ram and a Geforce 5600 XT video card and WoW worked super fine during the stress test. I think you will be perfectly fine. WoWs graphics when NOT on highest quality are still quite impressive that you have nothing to worry about. Other MMOs have to really downgrade their performance to even be up to snuff.

You should be fine... don't blow your pocketbook on upgrades like I did.. you'll be in debt forever. Even though my computer is uber-fast now:)

i blow the specks out of the water except for the fact that my comp is a laptop with an integrated 64meg Radeon graphics card you think it would be ok if i turned the settings down a bit on the graphics. I can run FFXI just fine if thats any clue

Hmm, I'm hearing about people getting ALOT of lag with a comp that is 2.0GHz or Higher, some Video Cards with 256 Ram, and 700ish MB Ram, I can't play with lag (Too annoying) and if these people get lag, it'll no doubt be worse for me?

Lemme try to compare a game to this...
I can ususally play Battlfield Vietnam with out any lag, and if I get lag it's due to the ping or server (Not lag because of my graphics card or anything) so would I be able to play WoW? (I think I play Vietnam on low settings =\ But I can play Battlefield: 1942 on high setting with little to no lag)

I can play WoW on low settings as long as it's nothing like FFXI's low settings, omg that was like playing a playstation game =P, But I don't like to get lag =(

For all those who are complaining about lag, I have to wonder what kind of ISP they are using. People with a 1.2Ghz CPU or better should be fine if they are running a "Broadband" connection.

I don't care if you just spent $4,000+ on the latest Alienware system, if you have a crappy ISP, dial-up especially, you'll have a laggy connection.

If it's the graphics that are causing the problem, lower the clip-plane and some of the settings. If you're running a 1.2 Ghz or better you should really be able to have a good time with reasonably little lag(unless you have 30+ people all in one area casting spells).

I'll be fine, right? I can't imagine that WoW would take more than FFXI does...

You should fly like the wind.

The point I've been trying to make is that this game takes LESS to run than almost all the MMORPGs out there!! Too many people worrying for little reason. :P

Please read the system requirements again......

Hi everyone, I know I'm going to sound ditsy asking but I don't know how find what my computers specs are. I got it as a gift from my parents and therefore have no idea whats in it, but I would like to see if I could play this game. Any information on how to find those things out would be great, then I can give y'all a post with that information and see if it can run well.

Thanks, Morrigan

A lot of the information you would want to know about your computer(well, the basics that is) is found pretty much by right clicking the my computer icon on your desktop/startmenu and hitting properties.

If you want to know about vid/sound card go to run in that start menu and type in DXDIAG. That should bring up the directx setting and such and information on what sound card/videocard you have.

First off thank you very much VampyreKnight Scholar! :)

I hope this is the type of information that is needed:

Under My Computer it says:
Pentium(R) 4cpu 3.00GHz
2.99GHz,512MB of Ram

When I did the DXDIAG I got clicked a few tabs because it sounded like those were what was needed to judge if I could run the game; system, display, and sound are the tabs I used.

System:
Processor: Intel Pentium 4CPU 3.00GHz
Memory: 510MB RAM
Page file: 266MB used, 981MB available
DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c

Display:
Name: RADEON 9800 PRO
Approx. Total Memory 128.0MB
Current Display Mode: 1024 x 768

Sound:
SB Audigy Audio [B800]

If this isn't the right information I'm very sorry, but I really wan't sure what I was looking for. I simply picked out the items that looked most common to the rest of the threads posts.

Thanks again, Morrigan

So I should be able to run it fine? Thats good to know, the only things I usually use it for are solitare and word processing. However, a friend told me I should look into this game, so I am. :) Thanks once more for your help VampyreKnight Scholar!

Yeah you should be able to run it extremely well. Games definately a leap up from solitair =P(Lost my solitair bug a long time ago...about the time I found free games online that were of pretty good quality, go figure).

BTW, for further reference the scholar part of my name is a title given by the site based on the kharma rating, so no real need to mention it ^_~. Besides, it makes me feal smurter than I are.

Very well VampyreKnight :) I'm glad to here that WoW should surpass solitare as I am getting tired of it. You have been a great help explaing things to me, many thanks!

I have the following:

2.20 GHz celeron
40 GB hard Drive
DVD drive
512 mg Ram
Geforce4 mx 4000 128 mg video card
cable connection

It sounds like my computer will play WoW okay. However, if I were to upgrade to play game even better should I upgrade to a 256 video card or add another 512 mg ram to my memory ?

I will eventually add both but which would make bigger difference starting out ?
#26 Oct 22 2004 at 1:44 AM Rating: Decent
Well I guess, IMO that adding 512 Mb of memory to the system is better than upgrading to a 256 Mb video card, anyways from what I know, RAM on the system boosts gaming, while the 256 MB of Ram on the video card aren´t used that much with today´s games. Plust, it will help your whole pc overall being able to work on more things at the same time and such...
