Join Ascendancy - a mature Alliance PvP guild!Follow

#1 Oct 10 2004 at 1:57 PM Rating: Decent
Ascendancy is a guild of online game players who are dedicated to attaining and maintaining positions of dominance through competitive, strategic teamwork. We are comprised of both casual and hardcore players from varying backgrounds, all with the common trait of finding enjoyment in player versus player (PvP) gaming. Having formed in June of this year we are currently small (16 members in our World of Warcraft Division) - but we are very well organized and highly enthusiastic!

Given our focus on PvP we do not consider ourselves a role-playing guild, although a number of our members enjoy casual role-playing. No previous MMORPG or previous PvP experience is necessary, as we are dedicated to helping our members "learn the ropes" and advance through the ranks as quickly as possible. Experienced MMORPG and PvP players interested in positions of responsibility are very welcome to apply; these positions will be available and awarded on merit as we make our debut in WoW's retail release and continue to grow in strength.

Our forums are located at http://www.ascendancy.us - feel free to ask questions and check us out before applying. While we welcome all sincere applicants, we strongly recommend that you have access to a headset prior to retail release - we prefer voice communication above any other while in game, and rely on it heavily. This is the full PvP experience you've been waiting for, so join with us today!

I wasn't sure where to post, so I didn't make a screen name or anything, but I am, in fact, interested.

I play MMORPGs for their unique kind of player vs player combat, not like a first person shooter(though I like those too :P). The most satisfying game for me was Ultima Online at its peak. It required you to pay attention, play smart, and play with skill, and still stay unique as for as pvp is concerned.

I've also always wanted to be part of guild that came out of nowhere, and became the most powerful guild on the server. People would comment about how "alliance" or "horde" on server "x" owns all because of 1 guild. There was a clan like this in dark age of camelot that made midgard just completely dominate on a specific server(can't remember name of server or clan, it was a long time ago).

Also, I haven't played this game yet. I plan to get into open beta by any means necessary, but if I somehow can't, I hope I would still be welcome when I buy the retail version.

ty for your time :)

edit: i forgot to ask, will you be alliance or horde? and what server?

Greetings Romulux,
We are an Alliance guild. We have not decided which server we will be playing on, but will decide when the game hits retail. I recommend you stop by our website and check us out. We currently have nine active members but are still growing. We post daily what our plans are, our goals, and character selection. We will be a PvP guild.

I also played UO. I played on the Atlantic server and had a blast! I started out solo and got tired of getting my butt kicked so many times by PKs (I got the game about a week after release if you know what that was like). I joined anti-PK guilds and remember fighting those guys for years. Unfortunately, many things ruined that game for me including Trammel. But that is another story.

Hello Romulux - thank you for your interest!

DogBoy, I and the other Ascendancy members think of MMORPGs in the same way you do: opportunities to engage in sophisticated player-versus-player combat within a persistent world. It sounds as though your goals align closely with our mission, and we'd welcome you as a member. Following DogBoy's post I'd just like to clarify two points:

  • We will play on the PvP server. My impression is that there will be only one PvP server offered at retail release.
  • As of today, we have seventeen active members in our World of Warcraft Division, not nine.

  • Please feel free to visit our forums at http://www.ascendancy.us and ask any additional questions you may have. Thanks again for posting!

Congratulations to our newest members: Cyren, barrin, Giant Steps and Romulux!

With open Beta just around the corner, Ascendancy will be active and visible on one of the PvP servers. We'll announce the server on this thread when it's available. Look for our tag!

And of course, feel free to visit our forums at http://www.ascendancy.us .

During retail release, I'd expect quite a few PvP servers. During the "Stress Test" there were either 8 or 10 servers and HALF of them were PvP. In retail I'm sure there will be a greater number of servers released(wouldn't be surprised to see 12 or more in each region to start with) and I would expect roughly a third(or more) of those servers to be PvP.

Everquest had only a few PvP servers just for those who wanted to play PvP, but EQ wasn't meant to be a PvP game. WoW was built from the ground up to support PvP so I would expect a much greater commitment to PvP than many other MMORPGs have given(discounting DAoC which was also built as a PvP game).

Congratulations also to marchofflames, another new applicant!

Ascendancy is poised to invade World of Warcraft with both a strong peak hours and off-hours presence. If you tend to play during off-hours, you'll appreciate being in good company. Visit our forums today at http://www.ascendancy.us , and join us in our mission to crush the Horde!

And a special welcome to Grey, another recent applicant!

Grey is a fine example of the type of player Ascendancy attracts. He is a mature, experienced PvP player and former guildmaster of a Dark Age of Camelot guild. His characters from DAoC boast some impressive statistics; ask him about it on our forums at http://www.ascendancy.us !

Our General Discussion area is open to the public, and you'll find some very active off-topic discussion on a variety of subjects. Registration is all that's required to post, so feel free to visit and ask any questions you may have!

Ascendancy is dedicated to dominating our opponents in World of Warcraft. The membership recently adopted the following as a grand strategic goal:

"Any member of the Horde that enters a zone outside of the Horde 'home territories' of Durotar, Mulgore and Tirisfal Glades will be repeatedly destroyed by members of Ascendancy or its allies until it retreats to an aforementioned Horde home territory."

Visit our forums at http://www.ascendancy.us , and join with us as we crush the Horde!

This guild is full of lies. This tops it all. If I do recall on Thursday I stated that Goldshire was under attack. For you non players that is about a minute walk from Stormwind. Your guild stated that you were to busy attacking the xroads. So you then begin to trash talk me and told me to get off my high horse. All I was doing was what you asked me to do. This is not a mature alliance pvp guild.

"Ascendancy is dedicated to dominating our opponents"

Yea also your allies to. You pretty much trash anybody that doesnt choose to fight. Which should not be a shock sense you fight on a PVE server. You ignore anybody and everybody that is not in your guild.

Your forums... lol. From what i can tell most of your memebers are hardly dedicated or looking forward to the game. Some state they probly not even going to play it much longer.

Trashing a guild in your first post? Not very nice. It's not your first post though is it? This is just your new account for the sake of flaming isn't it?

If you're going to talk trash about someone, the least you could do it use your primary account, then your words might actually carry some weight.

Btw, I'm not a member of this guild, I just don't believe in your posting habits. You don't seem any better than the image you're trying to paint of this guild. If they are as you say, they'll earn their own reputation based on their actions. If they aren't, then the same is true. Your posting like this though doesn't speak well of you. Especially if this were really your first post on this board.

I will say I'm surprised to hear they're on a PvE server. I didn't even realize they were playing in the beta.

    greedygamer,

I'm afraid you have us confused with another guild. We were not active in closed Beta. Ascendancy will debut in open Beta on a PvP server.
    #15 Nov 01 2004 at 12:58 PM Rating: Decent
Yes, you must have the wrong guild. If you were to actually read our members posts, we are all extremely anxious to play the game. In fact, we all look like a bunch of kids doing the pee pee dance in anticipation of the open beta!

Congratulations also to Hollandia, another recent applicant to Ascendancy! In his application for membership, he writes: "After surfing the internet for awhile this guild seems to fit perfectly with what I'm looking for."

You can read Hollandia's application here: http://forums.ascendancy.us/index.php?showtopic=219 . Visit our forums at http://www.ascendancy.us and consider if Ascendancy has what you're looking for as well!
