People on Leviathan Leaving FFxi for Wow. A question,Follow

#1 Oct 09 2004 at 9:39 AM Rating: Default
Hey!

I have been in most mmorpgs out there, moved from one to the other. I will probably play Wow for a while to see how I like it, but im kinda stuck to ffxi for now. My question was, if you are a player on the FFxi server Leviathan, and leaving the game for one reason or another, and not planing on going back.

Can you contact me reguarding your character, and if you are willing to hand away some of the items you have colected?

When i left... about all of the other m'rpg's out there I did the same, since I don't belive in selling crap on Ebay. (Ao,ac,ac2,uo,horiz, and more games, far to many)

Handed out the items I didn't need anymore to people that was for one reason or another still interested in the game I left. As I had no plans of returning.

Anyway, if you are willing to leave those items you are currently holding (as gill is hard to obtain in ffxi) could you send me a email?

Thanks ,
Best Regards

Mike / "Pranx" of the Leviathan server.

What makes you think that there are people on Leviathan leaving that read this discussion board? And what makes you think they're going to give their stuff to you rather than someone they actuallyk now? At least IN games, I can ignore the beggars - FFXI apparently ports their's out onto the internet-at-large.

None of the above, just a question not a request. I seen several friends of mine leave, and most of them farm this board. So why not? And what do you care, if you are not FFxi players farming this board? And even if you where.. why do you care? Come on.

Have fun guys,

-Mike

I like to pet beggers on the head and make them fetch the dollar bill.

Heh, I never leave with a bang..or a fizzle in any games, the first time i left EQ i just quietly logged(although...never knew it would be my last log for a while), Then in FFXI I was just farming one day and asked myself "why am i still playing this game?" so logged off in the middle of Giddeus. Still waiting for my final log from EQ...

When I quit (and I was on the Leviathan server) I found a random person who was similar to myself (Elvaan Drk, Bastok citizen, roughly lvl 53) and sent him a /tell to meet me in town. When he showed up I gave him enough items to where he couldn't hold any more. All in all I'd say I gave him 800,000 gil worth of equipment and crystals. I then found a lvl 8 character and gave that person what little I had remaining, nearly 70,000 gil worth of stuff.

Sorry man, you should have posted sooner.

hmm that name is Familiar. I was on Leviathan too and I quit around oh, a month ago. Main was named Soda 43 Bard, I think i saw you before Vlondi I can't remember.

All my items are still on my character, the last thing I can recall that I just obtained a Arcane Flowerpot and I just kind of faded away from FFXI. It didn't interest me anymore, waiting hours on end for a party is rediculous so I just stopped playing.

yeah... I was waiting 2-4 hours for a party. -_- It wasn't like my character was utter crap either I had all the important instruments((HQ Piccolo,Cornette,Traversaire), Marys Horn, Siren Flute Harp etc etc.) I think if I remember correctly my CHR was like 45+22 at lvl 43 something around there. Plus the "******" factor everytime I go into nest someone always trains Exorays etc etc. (btw I like Altepa better by far.)

I think ill either be the leaves game with tons of stuff going with me or the surprise noob present kind of quiter.

hehe, had a RL friend /sh in jeuno that he was leaving with all his goodies... as the 30seconds to logout ticked by - received a surprising number of tells.

Sounds kinda like what I did!

I was Lionness on the Shiva server. Level 60 paladin (50 fishing) The day I left, I showed up in the server... told everyone in the guild to find me in one hour if they wanted to loot. An hour later I had 9 guildies that found me and it was Christmas in July for the Guild. They received about 10,000,000 gil in equipment and 1,000,000 in gil. I high roll auction and who every wanted a piece of equipment could roll for it. For the top 3 selling high end pieces I had, you had to get 90 or better to claim the prize. The whole process took about four hours but it was the greatest 4 hours I ever had in the game.
We laughed, we joked, we had a great time but most importantly, the people who needed it got some great gear. The acting guild leader at the time assured me that everything that was paladin specific would be locked up in his vault for 90 days because one never knew if I'd be back...

The only thing I miss from the game is the guild mates... Moral of the story, if you leave the game don't take it with you, play Santa and make everyone's day including your own!

Wow, I can't believe that so many higher level Bards were having so much trouble getting parties. I personally loved them past level 60. I think my ideal group for a long time while making the grind from 65-75 was Paladin, Dark/Thf, Thief, White Mage (Girlfriends char) Black Mage (me) and either a Bard or Red Mage. I found that the longest I ever waited for a party after level 65 was probably 45 minutes, and that was when I didn't feel the need to find a party and my girlfriend wanted to exp so she put together a new party. I will say that it's quite easy to put together a party past level 72 because you can get so many people that are already at level cap and are trying to get more exp.

I suppose that was sort of long, but hey, that's what happens sometimes. I personally couldn't give away a lot of items besides my staff collection, which went into my guild bank/needy people in the guild. Most of my gear worth anything was Rare/EX so it got sold with my character. I know it's not the "right" thing to do, but my car had broken down and I had to move that month, so the $800 USD that I got for my account definitely helped pay for my moving truck and fixing my car. :\ I still wish I could play sometimes, but the gear grind for very high end gear was terrible. Camping sky for a week just to have your guild run up and kill the gods and HOPEFULLY you will get the item that you were hoping for. Seems that my old guild is able to take down Kirin in ~1 hour now though, much better than the marathon sessions of 3-4 hours that we were originally taking when we were still ironing out the best way to defeat her. (I believe Kirin is a HER...)

Soda, yeah, I do remember you. I'm sure I've seen you in Garlaige Citidel and a few times in the nest. I was a few levels higher than you when I quit so I'm not sure if we have ever partied.

You know, in my book vultures don't get anything.

I'm selling my gear, giving stuff to LS mates and friends (read: people I know and like) who will actually use the stuff. I don't give items to people I know will just turn around and sell it... and, here's the biggie: If anyone, ANYONE, asks me if they can have all my stuff after they find out I'm leaving, they don't get a single item. If a friend who's a mage said, "hey can I use your astrals?" I'd be more than happy to hand them over cause I knew that person wanted them to use, not just for the money.

Maybe I'm a cranky *****, but I hate it when the first words out of someone's mouth are "Can I have your stuff?" and not "Why are you leaving?" "I'll miss ya" or even a simple "(Take care)"
