Do people farm in this game? I heard that there isn't a need to farm for money
How do you get new, better items, do you buy most of them from the stores (Like FFXI), or do you got to camp monsters for most of them (Like EQ) or wha?

Yep of course people farm. But they farm for items not money. You get the best items from raiding instances or visiting dangerous places like BRD, Badlands, Ungoro Crater. Stranglethorm Vale. There hasn't been camping quests like EQ i hope you don't want that because that's what made me quit that game.
Well, it would be more fun IMO slaying a specific monster (Usually powerful) for a good item, rather than simply purchasing it
Definitely, the majority of the better items are either quest rewards or drops. Some of the good ones are also crafted, but apparently this peters out in the end-game due to absurd material requirements.
That said, yes, the majority of top-tier items are drops from powerful foes. Many of those are in instances, but some are not... I have in mind a particular wyvern in the (relatively low-level) Stonetalon Mountains that I hit up whenever I found him, he dropped good stuff for me.
