They shoudln't need any basic comparison because they should just read the main site and not fustrate beta testers that are trying to answer useful questions. If I tell you to buy a game the first thing ever should do is look it up and gather all info about it to see if that's what your looking for.
Yes, that's the first thing.
The second thing is to get a comparasion from someone that has played both games.
Unless you spend the money to buy and play the 2nd game, the only way to find out our Game #2 compares to Game #1 is to ask someone that has played both for their comparasions.
You can't really tell if you're going to like the game by reading about it on the main site in articles and information supplied by the publisher/developer. You need to hear from people that have actually played both games so they can compare the features of both.
Then, you process that information and make your decision.
No one can tell you if you're going to like it or not, but you can use other people's opinions to help forumulate yours.
edit:
Personally, I want to hear about how former FFXI players like WoW. There are some things reading about the game wont' tell you, you need to learn from players. For instance, FFXI's main site won't tell you anything about the partying problems/issues. The only ways you'd find that out are 1) spending the money and learning the hard way or 2) hearing from other players.
