The only thing about this is it still doesnt really stop ganking and griefing. Its no big deal they get negative points allt hey have to do is kill some people their own lvl and its gone, and so what if they get alot so anyone can kill them. I think if you hit that lvl Every NPC should be KOS to you.

I haven't read the interview, but I recently stumbled across some information saying that the Horde/Alliance only will only apply to the PvP servers. On the PvE servers, you'll be able to create both a Horde and an Alliance character on the same server.

I'm not sure if this information has been posted anywhere on the forums before, but if it has, I haven't seen it and this seemed like an appropriate place to post said info.

Edit: Btw, this info was found on WoW Warcry, which I've always found to be fairly accurate.

Chris Sigaty:10. You can have 10 characters on different realms or all on one server. However if you decide to play Horde with your character on a realm, you will not be able to play Alliance also on this realm. This will be done to prevent players to switch sides if one faction is stronger then the other on this realm.

need i say more

I counter with Eno, lead designer of WoW! Eno, unleash your fury on previous posting!!!!!!!!

Quote:
On the PvP servers, we will be enforcing that you can only make characters on the Horde or the Alliance.

On normal servers, you can freely make characters on either side.

Ahh, but whos info came out last?

If Eno statement was made first and then Chris, maybe the system changed to not switching sides on PvP or PvE, or it could be vise-versa.

Looks like Enos came out last, so I would go by what he said. :)

It's already been shown that the Sigaty interview contains alot of mistranslations, so take it with a grain of salt.

Now the PvP interview.

I like it. That's a PvP system I can get into.

Yeah, doesn't sound like enough punishment for negative rank. Maybe make it so you can't enter certain towns to buy/sell stuff.

Well I hope that with negative you would get twice the points. So if you kill one low level, you need to kill two equal or higher level just to even it out.

I do like the fact that while in negative status, anyone can attack you, not matter what faction. The lose of xp is also a great idea.

My question is, if a low level attacks you first will that count against you when you kill him?

The reward system is what I don't understand. What about the people that don't want to participate in raids or PvP? They have no chance to get the npc discounts, items, or special mounts? The PvE players will be crying two months into the game when they see their first high ranking PvP player "ubered" up, wearing items that can only be attained from PvP.

Surest way to get me to not want to PvP to get special items, call it "uber" or "l33t" gear.

People who play on PvE are one of a few different natures. Among them are the people who simply want to power their character, and not **** around fighting other players. These people will be split if there are indeed special PvP-only rewards, because some will say "guess I have to play on PvP then", and some will refuse to play PvP and be constantly turned off to the fact that they have been hamstringed by that decision.

While I am not strictly a power-gamer in the sense of stopping at nothing to level/gear up my character, I suppose you could say I fall into that second group.

The thing that turns me off from PvP is the attitude of the hardcore PvPers.

I like PvE with the ability to PvP only if and when I feel like it.

Good thing the language barrier is in place so you don't even get to hear much of what the opposite faction has to say...well, unless you're fighting the undead that can speak common. The attitude of fellow alliance would most likely bother me more. I have seen people insult fellow faction members because of mistakes, much like any MMO, but I would imagine those hardcore that want to always win. Oh how they will belittle and insult just to win... On the plus side, WoW does have the single most greatest command ever, the ignore/blacklist command.

Not that ignore is unique to WoW or anything. But I agree with your point.
