No question is a dumb question...Follow

#1 Sep 12 2004 at 10:08 PM Rating: Decent
Be warned, there is a rant below!

Remember when they used to tell you that in school? God, how wrong they were.

There are thousands of dumb questions asked every day. When someone takes a bite of some food and grimaces, the person next to them always has to ask "Does it not taste good?" Dumb question.

Now, to make this WoW related, if your question can be answered by taking a few minutes to actually scroll through some of the sticky threads or Blizzard's FAQ page, then yes, it's a dumb question and should not take up space on the forums. Just because you're too lazy to actually put out the effort to find something yourself, you shouldn't expect everyone else to do the work for you.

On the other hand, if you've actually looked for answers, scrolled through some pages, whatever, and can't find an answer, then this is the perfect place to come. I mean, hell, some stuff is a pain to find, but if you come here and ask stupid questions, you will probably only get smart-*** replies or ones telling you to look through the material posted all ready.

Sorry, just frustrated...

Not so much a bad day as getting tired of seeing the same questions posted over and over again when the answers are easily found... that's all. I mean, people are posting questions knowing that the answer is easily found. They're just too f***ing lazy to do it themselves. ARGH!!!

And excellent. He better enjoy it, cause if he doesn't, I'll go to Salt Lake and break his computer. :P

I just can't wait to see how the people here react when more and more posters so up.

They should go hang out in the FFXI boards for a bit, see what life here will be like.

Of course it was... it just hasn't realized it yet. :P

Ya know... I used to like the FFXI forums. At times, they were really good. Then it became nothing but "Chinese Gil Farmers stole my NM" and "Fishing Botters are stealing my reason to live!!!" It just got retarted. It was the same thing over and over again. And if it wasn't that it was someone asking if they though summoner would be a good sub for warrior. *sigh* So sad.

Edit: respond to previous post instead of posting twice.

I spent a good part of today on the FFXI forums.

I feel like shooting something.

Or at least ripping it apart.

God bless the FFXI forums. Its the only place where you can have 15 threads on the same subject as long as you make it so FFXI is perfect in all ways. Anything that tries to offer an open discussion is left with flames and off topic subjects...bastards...*Punches a wall*

ANYWAYS, the only reason I even look at the forums is for Karg's collection of videos. Gotta admire a guy that took the time to perfect a single thread. Others would have just made thousands of threads of the same video by now.

So basically this thread is exactly like the "Ask a Tester" thread. Please view the link in my profile, thank you.

When it comes to alakazams threads youll see alot of repeats, some by people just not willing to check for the anwser in othe rthreads and some are by people asking somthing that has dissapeared from the 1st 2 to 3 pages of threads.
The latter is because you have to be a paid subscriber in order to use the search engine. When i go to othe rwebsites, their threads are a little more organized, and since i can use the search engine theres no need for me to post a new thread where my question is answered.

Go to the main fourms in ffxi, I posted a thread to help people get their fame. Someone did post to me a thread like this already exsist, and its on page 300+, Most likely no ones gonne go that far. If the search engine was aval to all, there will not be tons of dumb posts out there. Some poeple where happy i posted that thread since they couldnt find anything like it in the 1st 10 pages they game up searching.
The thread that the poster pointed out to me is extremely informative not just how to gain fame but in tons of othe raspects of ffxi, the info there is so useful it really deserved a sticky, to bad it didnt get one and is lost, however its been brought back to life thru my thread.

it does get annoying to see many of the same posts, however ingame youll have tons of people asking the same questions. You can either take it the good way or scream till you pop your lungs.

Rule of thumb in allakazham sites. If it's not on the first page it's not going to get noticed. Second page has a slight chance of getting noticed, and that's only by people tracking a specific thread.

If it falls to the 3rd page, it's in thread limbo. Never to be seen again.

That's pretty much true of all internet forums. I'd actually go so far as to say if you can't see it without scrolling down the first page, you might not look for it. (You being the general 'you', and not to the obviously-intelligent people reading this thread that know how to at least check stickies and use Jaefo's thread.)

I wouldn't know, I didn't read that one.

Ha! I learned nothing.

P.S. Azuarc's thread is stickied above yours. Just sayin'.

I can't wait until the WoW forums turn into an identical copy of the FFXI forums ;_;

I'll just have to enjoy them while it lasts.

P.S. This is my version of a post pharm! Yay!

Go look at the SWG forums. Filled with hundreds of "How to I become a Jedi?" posts.
