I really think this game is lacking the race/classes to make it more unique.

I really think you should rethink what you just typed. Less classes makes each class have a purpose. More classes equals less diversity between classes. This creates the FFXI syndrome. Not being able to find a party when you need one, because your class is a watered down version of another class.

Btw, where do I purchase a "pointer of view." I have a laser pointer and I'm thinking a "pointer of view" might be an upgrade.

As compared to what?

EQ with too many races?

FFXI with useless races (there's really no point in being a race in that game)?

UO with no races?

There's a middle ground with just the right number of classes/race. WoW's pretty close.

I think this has the right amount of races/classes for the start. This way when expansions come around they arent just pulling classes out of thin air.

In an ideal game, I think every class should either be 2/3 one archetype and 1/3 a secondary, or a hybrid 1/3 of three different types. So a warrior would be defensive/melee offensive, a paladin would be defensive/healing, a wizard would be magic offensive/utility, a druid would be hybrid healing-magic offensive-utility, etc. Theoretically though, while the "primarily defensive" would not be identical for the warrior and the paladin, it would be intended to be relatively equal.

To be truelly effective tanking in high lvel instances you have to go defensive as a warrior. This is especially true in this push.

That leads me to this point. If a paladin could hold agro as well as a warrior, would anyone play warrior? A paly can heal and res, and a warrior in defensive stance doesnt do good dps.

I like the way the classes are INTENDED to be. The paly, warlock, and druid will get additional dev lovin. Talents are far from done also. Even the classes with talents need reworks.

The more classes you put in a game the more watered down they get. There can only be so many dps, tanks, and healers in a game. Noone in a tough instance will pick a hybrid healer over a true healer, etc. It all leads to more frustrated and disappointed players because their favorite class cant find a party.

On a side note, I really wish they had put a true necormancer in the game.

WoW is a unique MMORPG in it's own right. It feels different from any other MMO I've played, while still having enough similarities to easily rival them.

I really think this game is lacking the race/classes to make it more unique.

I belive the contrary. WOW gives you a storyline for each race. thus really pushes the replay value high. Some games Like DAOC that has 15- 18 races has only 3 stroylines depending the realm you go in, it does have minor stories behind each race though.
FFXI Has 3 nations on which once you hit rank 4 on youll seeing the same story for all 3 nations, it has minor race backround too.

Giving each race its own story is quite cool. While the allience belive the horde is vile and evil, play the horde and see how they are unaccepted because they are either new to the world , have been controlled to do evil deeds and stuff.

Every race you play you see the world on the way they view the world. That makes the game entertaining.

Oh to the poster, since you are a vet playing mmos i invite you to my MMO universal slang thread for new players and ffxi players plz post your help will be appreciated.!!
