I'm just making this post because i'm interested in seeing what game people have been playing before getting interested in WoW. I came from EQ.

Started with UO for 4 years.

Played FFXI for 6 months or so.

To be honest, I was intially avoiding WoW like the plague. All I heard was "WoW this" and "WoW that". Was kind of annoying.

So when I started getting annoyed with FFXI, it stopped being fun and started seeming like work, I went looking for another game.

First choice was Wish, but that's been pushed back to the 2nd quarter of 2005. I signed up for the beta for that, which is in december, so may not do WoW until after that beta.. will have to wait and see.

Anyways, since I quit FFXI I was looking for a new game to play. EQ2 didn't interest me, Wish did (but was going to be so long before that came out) so I decided to look some more into WoW.

So far, I'm liking what I see.

FFXI, worst game...EVER

It just wasnt fun...a quality that should be revered in a video GAME. not video or virtual WORK, lol

WACK A$$ FINAL FANTASY!!! Any world where it takes a Dragoon 1 whole week of seeking party to get invited to one, only to have the WHM leave 10 min later and party disband is not the world for me. The damn game could be soooooo much better if the XP system was shifted where you actually can solo a decent,or equal and gain ok XP and downtime wouldnt' matter cause at least you'll be gaining XP while waiting for a PT with a job that's not popular. And Max XP being 200-280 with SC's at any lvl! Thats INSANE, you lose more XP when you die post lvl 40 than you gain!! Urgh oh well before I lose it, I'm patiently waiting for something to change in that game before I try again, my 43 RNG is waiting and WOW is right around the corner....

Seoman!!! YA! Finally someone I know on these boards. So, what're you going to be playing?

Anyway, yeah, I came from FFXI too... though have quit a long while ago. Basically, I've just been killing time by playing random video games (MegaMan Aniversary Collection, Xenosaga, Doom 1&2, MechWarrior 3, etc...)

WoW seems like it's going to be alot of things that FFXI wasn't, which is a good thing. There's been alot of "FFXI VS WoW" threads, but it's basically which style of play you prefer. If you like being in a party at all times, then FFXI is probably your type of game. On the other hand, if you like being able to do things by yourself, having the option to group when you want to, then WoW might be the better fit. It's just all a matter of preference.

Hello fellow FFXI gamer,

I play always FFXI, but very slowly : 64 monk since a long time (2 monthes)...

I'm looking after WoW to give me more fun than in FFXI :

- no more useless wasted time waiting for a party,
- less NM camper : instance dungeon anyone =)
- no bot to start with, and I hope a firm stand of Blizzard against all sort of cheaters...

Well, anyway, I will give WoW a try, and probably more than a try, as I like the features...

regards,

Nolife

I don't know about FFXI but when i was playing EQ most days i couldn't find a group after a few hours so i was forced to solo. When i becamed 45 i joined a good guild and then everything was almost perfect leveling.

i ditched ffxi 2 months ago and im currently Playing DAOC untill WOW comes out.

To guardian lance:

I know how you feel i was a dark knight. I do advise you try DAOC
any ANY class can solo, even the healers, parties are even better cuz u actually Kill a few mobs at a time. oh and almost every class can solo ojs (tough enemies) and reds (very tuff enemies) yellow (even match) are very easy and u can chain em forever.
Its a good game to spend some time until WOW comes out. oh and go to the gaheris server, its the pve server and its fun as hell (no bots)

I'm good, good... waiting on a new computer. *happy grin* oh, and WoW too.

Well, I'm definitely going to be making a warrior (human), a mage (once again, probably human), and a warlock (undead). I'm not sure which one is going to be my main atm, but hopefully they'll all be fun.

So, have you "officially" quit FFXI, or are you still just taking a break?

Started with EQ, played for 2 years
Went to FFXI, played for 5 or 6 months
Went to Lineage 2, Played for a month or two

Am now waiting on WoW (It looks so far to be better than EQ2 and DnL to me)

Haven't officially quit yet. Have to go thru and sell all my gear and distribute the gil to my friends.

We should try to get some of the others to come over to the "dark" side. Smiley: grin

It'd be great if we could, but I know Kail's definitely not interested in playing. In fact, the only person I know of who's shown interest is Kathryn, so I expect to see her around.

Might be able to convince Althena. This is his type game more anyways.

A couple of my old LS mates are going to play.

Sweet, I'd love to see Alth play this. I imagine we could get a good guild together if we just mush everyone together.

I'd love to help, but aside from the Ala FFXI forums, I have no access to FFXI...

Anyway, were thinking of going to a PvP or PvE server?

Hey!...looks like im the only one from SWG so far!!

it was my first and only MMO so far, and i played for a good seven months before finally realizing why everyone else was leaving.

reasons (in very brief):

1) Dev incompetence

2) 1 year after launch, it's still a beta game.

3) it's turning into KotOR MMO..if i want that, i'll play Jedi Academy, thank you.

4) Sony sucks

can't wait to see WoW, but for now im off MMO's, and have been playing Warcraft3, Diablo 2, etc.

i just hope the Downloads for WoW arent that bad...im on dial up.....at least my comp isnt too slow.

im coming from galaxies
#22 Sep 01 2004 at 8:56 AM Rating: Decent
I played Galaxies for a short while, I guess 3 months or so. I left because of numerous reasons which I won't bother going into here. However, it had potential to be a great game if it had been done right... sadly, it wasn't.

PvE without a doubt.

I am not a PvP fan, because of Griefers and The High-Levels that think they're "uber" because they can kill a lvl 1.

Excellent, that's what I was planning as well. PvP just seems to bring out the worst in people.

I guess now all we have to do is wait for release and see what happens.

Long wait... Nov. 15 at earliest Smiley: frown

Yeah, I agree, "no-rules" PvP brings out the worse.

Well, there open beta... which should hold me over for a bit. Though, I think the stress test is just going to make me want to play the game even more... *sigh*

Ah well... guess I'll just work on beating all the MegaMan games on the anniversery collection while I wait.
