it seems like to me that there are a bunch different armor classes but most classes..all exept 3 dont go past leather..and hunter only goes to plate at lev 40..whats up with that..if you wanna look cool with heavy armor you really only have 2 class options...thats a lil odd... plzz dont flame me im just intrested....and yes i know i cant spell

It's a balance thing. If would not be appropriate if mages could cast the biggest damage spells AND wear the beefiest armor in the game. Since there are only 9 character classes, and *4* armor classes, it's somewhat fitting that there are 2 at every level (and a third at cloth.) That is, priest/warlock/mage are all cloth, druid and rogue are always leather, shaman and hunter start leather and learn mail, paladin and warrior start mail and learn plate.

And who says you have to have heavy armor to look cool? I think my priest looks pretty darn sweet.

btw...why is the subject of this thread "trolls"? Are you talking about the race, or assuming there are going to be a bunch of troll-posters?

No one ever takes the two seconds to actually glance at the forum and see that there's a giant thread for beta questions like this. It makes me sad.

SO what people have the choice to post wherever they want you don't have to whine about it.

Azurac is right.

JAEFo is right.

Gihja is wrong.

Well I do admit Jaefo has a big point.

Because of people who never read the forums, good topics that answers their questions with ease get lost.

check out the dark knight froums in the ffxi section it is bombed by the same stupid questions over and over they were answered a million times.

Doing so takes space and drops a really good thread to hell. This is due to all those darn people who just dont know how to browse. HOWEVER it also happens to website where poeple have to PAY to use the search engine witch imo is extremely stupid and dull since more input added to the server means lagfest and other terrible things.

Oh and this keeps happening because its the responders culpability for answering the question 500 times to the 500 excactly same threads.

SO WERE ALL TO BLAME...except jaefo.. i think.... i might be wrong

To actually answer the question:

Limiting armor is for a couple of reasons:

1) Balance. Like Azurac said, a mage that could deal high level damage and wear high protection armor would be too strong.

2) Roleplay. A hunter is supposed to be quick of feet and able to move through forests silently well hunting their prey. Can't move thru a forest if you're wearing couple hundred pounds of steel.

The problem with sticky threads is it's hard to manage. You post a question, it gets lost within all the other threads.

There could be a dozen threads between yours and when someone answers it, if they even answer it at all.

It's very easy to miss questions in a sticky thread.

It's also hard to find your question to see if it's been answered.

A FAQ with a list of questions and answers is better. Azuarc's thread is a good one, set up like a FAQ.
