Why is your rating so low? Does it go down automatically if you're not participating?
a couple things can cause your rating to go south of 3.00:
a scholar or higher can rate posts that actively effect your average posting rating, which plays a role in determining your karma rating.spamming the boards regularly (you'll see a 0.01 decrease if you post 10 messages in less than 30 minutes) will make you see a slight decrease however, regularly posting, with adequate intervals inbetween posts will gradually raise your karma rating. also, posting relevant, robust, useful info will usually be rewarded by a scholar or higher by a rate up, which is the quickest way to get your rating up...just thought i'd help clarify.
although i'm not entirely sure on the exact numbers, it appears that if your posting karma achieves 3.01, you attain scholar status...3.5 and you attain sage status, and 4.0 you attain Guru status. the stars under the posters name are a quick reference as to how many posts they've made. first star is at 50 (if i remember correctly) and second star is made in the 200's.
