Undead...Most Dangerous?Follow

#1 Aug 06 2004 at 11:08 PM Rating: Decent
From what I've been reading on most WOW boards' it seems to me like the Undead should be one of the best race's next to the balanced Men, and Elves. But I'm wondering with the ability to resist magic making Magic Classes pratically ineffective against a Undead War, or Undead Rogue in PVP and PVE since most monsters use piercing weapons, like in most games' (Lance-Certain Swords-Arrows) are ineffective against undead. Is that true? And why can't I find starting Stat's on race's yet? Someone has to have this info. But anywayz' this is purely given information assumption, I could be wrong, and there's white magic extremely harmful that mosters' use on undead or priets in pvp which they can cast Very fast.

Undead are not ungodly powerful. They are immune to a select few spells, crowd control type spells like sleep and fear. While they can also breathe underwater and understand the common languages of both factions, their set of advantages ends there.

There's a set of starting statistics *somewhere*, but I can never seem to find it. Just the same, I wouldn't necessarily base your race solely on stats.

first of all if they made it so undead were impervious to much magic and to piercing attacks like old games and movies then even if i buy the game i will throw it in the trash. I dont think any race should become ultimate

Lol. No one is saying the Undead is ultimate, I'm just looking at what races' have advantages on, and undead just seem to have the best on paper, I havent' seen em in the game yet. They also seem to have the most weaknesses now that I look into it more. For a game that isn't focused on realistic graphics, they sure made the undead the furthest from eye candy as possible. *sigh* oh well as long as theyre not slow moving and low on intelligence they should be fine. :)

Why is your rating so low? Does it go down automatically if you're not participating?

a couple things can cause your rating to go south of 3.00:
  • a scholar or higher can rate posts that actively effect your average posting rating, which plays a role in determining your karma rating.
  • spamming the boards regularly (you'll see a 0.01 decrease if you post 10 messages in less than 30 minutes) will make you see a slight decrease

  • however, regularly posting, with adequate intervals inbetween posts will gradually raise your karma rating. also, posting relevant, robust, useful info will usually be rewarded by a scholar or higher by a rate up, which is the quickest way to get your rating up...just thought i'd help clarify.

although i'm not entirely sure on the exact numbers, it appears that if your posting karma achieves 3.01, you attain scholar status...3.5 and you attain sage status, and 4.0 you attain Guru status. the stars under the posters name are a quick reference as to how many posts they've made. first star is at 50 (if i remember correctly) and second star is made in the 200's.

Ahh I see, thanks for the info. Any Beta players here play as Undead Rogue? Hows that working out? I heard Rogue is gimped, especially in PVP, please tell me this isn't true

    It isnt true...happy?
Seriously however, they are gimped , but only for the time being, as the dmg output systems is supposedly bugged, as rouges have dmg based heavily on agility and not so much just strength. As well as Stealth, it is bugged, where you are spotted too often by equal or higher lvls. And stealth is required for many of their best abilities. So they are gimped. This has all been addressed by bliz and is *supposed* to be fixed in the upcoming patch.

edit: Cuz i cant spell good!

In beta, I have to say that the undead are NOT the ultimate. Not sure there is such a beast, not yet. It's also Blizzards intention to avoid such a race.

Currently Undead appear to have a sweet advantage, that is until you look into Paladins. Paladins are the natural answer to Undead. They seem to have a counter to most of the Undeads natural advantages. So, in a sense, you could say, the Undead are the ultimate race of choice, provided you never meet a paladin. As a caster class, I can point out that the undead resistances are just that resistance and not immunities.

Ironic a priest fails to mention their anti-undead ability, shackle undead, aka lockdown. It basically disables a player the same way sleep would if it were still in the game. Still, that's all we've got. Paladins have their only DD as undead-only, a seal that gives a huge bonus to attack power against undead, the ability to detect undead on their mini-map...paladin is far more the answer to undead than priest.

Hmmm...good info, doubt I'll see the day, paladins storm an undead fort and live to tell about it, but I haven't played WOW yet.

Racial traits are being still being reworked. Undead traits (such as immunity to sleep, etc.) might very well be reworked. They just happened to get their traits left in when everyone other race's were removed so that they aren't gimped versus Paladins/Priests with no bonuses.

Ya, Paladins will definently be able to put a stop to some tough undead players during pvp. They just have so many spells that would own undead, assuming their lvls were almost equal

One of the two. That's why we consider them undead lands now. Lordaeron != the kingdom of Azeroth.

Besides, I'm an elf. In some ways I could care less about the lands of men and who rules who there.
