Quick question regarding small pets.Follow

#1 Jul 29 2004 at 9:58 PM Rating: Decent
Currently i an mot playing the beta (but i am one of the million euro hopefuls), but i just had a quick question about the small pets. On www.worldofwarcraft.com they mention that they are just a none combat companion, but i wanted to know how one obtains them to begin with. Are they something you buy from an NPC, or can you quest for them, or even adventure out in the wilderness and tame them yourself? and if you buy them, does anyone know roughly how much they cost? Thanks in advance

Non-combat pets can be purchased at NPCs, made by engineers, or found as drops.
# Cats: Elwynn Forest (Kitten in SW)
# Dragon Welpling: Rare item drop
# Owl: Darnassus
# Parrots: Booty Bay
# Prairie Dog: Thunder Bluff
# Rabbits: Dun Morogh
# Roach: The Undercity
# Snake: Orgrimmar
# Mechanical Squirrel: Engineered

Cost for each pet varies from 20-50 silver-ish. Something like that. Engineers can also make a few combat pets (mechanical dragonlings, mini-harvesters, whatever.) I think I missed one or two pets, but you get the general idea.

That would make a nice guide *hint hint*

Prices and what vendor sells them, or what animal and what level engineer you need. I will see what kind of info I can acquire and maybe we can get together and make a guide of sorts.

i wish i could help with the guide, but since i cant play i would provide no useful information what-so-ever. but i SHOULD get some credit for the guide since it was because of me who sparked the idea *hint hint* lol

Non-combat pets are just that, non-combat pets. They scurry, flutter, or hover around you. Do nothing but look cute. They don't take commands. /shrugs

Check JAEFo's posts for current locations to buy them, he's even got the prices. The only thing he didn't mention was faction. Currently there is no method available for Alliance to faction up to buy from Horde vendors (or verse a vice), so your limited to what vendors you can deal with.

Same with Mounts. Most pet vendors are near a mount vendor, also. Mounts require lvl 40+, 100g to buy and 100sp to learn to ride.

Might want a pet guide for Warlock pets (combat pets), imp, voidwalker and succubus. They can be passive, defensive, agressive and I thought there was a fourth setting. They sit (guard) and attack. Attack can be your target, or a mob nearby (if on agressive mode) or whatever hit you last.

There are ways to get the other faction's pet. Charm the vendor, or if you want to do it without an exploit, buy it in the Booty Bay auction house.
