XP Grind??Follow

#1 Jul 29 2004 at 5:51 AM Rating: Decent
well from all the forums i have seen. i could tel l that most people feedback L2 as a totally bad xp grind. and from
some MMOs that i have played. RO FFXI and some other korean beta testing ones. all of them have become and XP grind after certain levels.

my friend who plays L2 says it takes him bout 80 hrs to get 80% of xp from lvl 53-54.

and from my FFXI experience a pt can get xp at an average rate of bout 3-4k/hr or more after lvl 50. and from lvl 74-75 u only need 50k xp so bout 15-20 hrs would get the job done.

i was wondering how WoW compares to the above 2 games.
can someone enlighten me?

thanks you very much in advance ;p

I too am a victem of the FFXI job of leveling... mostly been in WoW though, so...

WoW isnt really all just grind grind grind.. its usually 'grind for quest item' or 'grind for quest mobs' then with some normal 'grind' on the side... the tradeskills are fun to work with, and also are a nice break from grinding for exp... but your grinding for materials, or the cash to buy em.

with the rest state in place, its hard to gauge the time it will take to get from level XX to level XX+1, but, with all games that ive played, the lower levels are easy, and as you get higher it gets a bit longer... and it really depends on what you do to get that level too. if you go questing the entire time, then the levels come faster (but skill points are slow), or if you take my route and only do quests that you know give good loot, or if your just desperate for cash, its a nice balance.

ummm... i really need to go to sleep, gotta be awake in about 5 hours, and will prob take an hour to fall asleep. i hope that answers ur question, ill be on the boards a lot from 12:30-4:30 pm pacific time tomorow (friday july 30), and may come back to edit this a bit or post a new reply if you need any more info.

I am also interested in hearing your opinions on WoW vs. FFXI.. I currently am playing FFXI but am also looking to play WoW once it's released.. Can you give us some comparisons? Or maybe just general feelings you've had in both games and how they compare?

Thanks!

JAEF's extensive FFXI vs. WoW comparison:

FFXI: Has stuff

WoW: Has stuff

WoW wins.

WoW:
Quests mean something other then 'cash' or 'items' they have a story with each one, its fun to read them.
If you like, you can solo a good portion of the game. its funner in teams, but, only absolutely needed in a few areas or quests.

WoW vs FFXI:
wow has a LOT more items in it by the looks of things.
FFXI you can change a job, a semi plus.
FFXI you can have more then one linkpearl to swap around 'guilds' WoW is one guild.
FFXI is going for lifelike graphics.
WoW has a similar graphics engine then that of Warcraft III.

FFXI:
aside from doing the quests for fame, occasional crappy item, or some nominal amount of money, why bother? the stories behind each quest are uninteresting to me.
Go get to level 20, start sitting in jeuno, wait for a team. time elapsed could be anywhere from minutes, to days.

your quick and easy thing of what to know... there are other threads around that hold better or longer answers to the question you have asked.

I should WoW an any other MMO should get a skill based system. not thouse fancy lvls. so things get weighted up..

100 5lvls vs 2 70lvls.. ? who wins? thats justs insane.

JAEFo... You cease to amaze me.. WoW, has stuff. FFXI, has stuff. Wow wins... lmao... It's just too good. By the way! I have good news! My friend.. *FFXI friend* said he was getting sick of this game *which i can't beileve, but then again, i haven't played, and i was too excited to speak* *And ofcourse i mean he's in the WoW Beta.* and my other FFXI friend who is still talking to him on a daily basis, is asking him if i could borrow his account. So... I might FINALLY see you guys on the game... I can't wait... I'll keep you all posted on if i get in or not. *Probably won't.. But the world is a better place the more you lie to yourself about it.*
