Will there be weapons with spell effects like in D2 or EQ?Follow

I was wondering, in WoW will there be weapons that have spell effects (have a chance to cast a spell when attacking at random) or will there be weapons like in Diablo 2 where they have aura effects or worn effects that are passive and are on all the time? Playing Everquest and Diablo 2 I really loved the higher end game and getting weapons with awesome effects. Or even armor that have spell effects that are passive or "clicked" to activate.

From the post i have read, i'm starting to like what i hear about WoW, but i hope there is enough gear and weapons that can be upgraded once you reach the max level to bring more enjoyment and being able to advance.

Any beta testers out there seen any weapons / armor like i am talking about? or have heard of any?

Thanks in advance for responding to my post and answering my question :)

first off... let me just say one thing. THIS IS NOT DIABLO 2!!!!

ok.. now that i got that out of the way i can answer your question.

I do know of a few pieces of equipment that do have the 'chance' to do other effects, ive seen some armor that will give you health regen when hit, and i know of a potion you can apply to your weapon to give it a chance to cast a shadow bolt when striking. there are others out there, check the equipment lookup, go through and get a lot of reading done, you should be able to find some.

The dagger I'm using has a 5% chance to do 30 fire damage on striking (yeah, I'm gimp), and I've see other weapons with similar effects such as reduction of the target's armor, etc. Your character's 'Spirit' attribute increases your chance to 'proc' with weapons, so the short answer is yes. I don't recall any item that provides a 'passive' effect like an aura, but I could be wrong.

Spirit affects procs? That's news to me, but I'm a priest, so I'm not too likely to object if I were to ever actually get a procing weapon.
