What I think the new races will beFollow

#1 Jun 29 2004 at 8:46 PM Rating: Decent
for the WoW exp...so maybe I'm getting ahead of WoW even being released but hey a guy can dream right?

After giving this topic much thought, here's my opinion:

First, of all the races already suggested, my thought process was started by idea that one race that maybe added is Blood Elf. So here's the reasoning behind my ideas.

IMO there's no way blood elves will be added to alliance. If they are, they not only break their oath of fealty to the Naga but also their leader Illidan. I know a lot of people have suggested that they will added to alliance, but I highly doubt it. On the other hand, Blizzard is definetly leaving them out atm and I still think they would end up being a great addition to the WoW universe. So what do I think? Well...

A new faction.

Now this presents huge amounts of problems for balancing for PvP. Anyone who's played Dark Age of Camelot knows what I'm talking about (personally a Hib hater lol), but hear me out.

With this new faction, I have four suggested races. Just as many as the other factions. 3 of which I think are totally being left out atm. 1 of which you all may just turn red in protest. But hey I gotta tell you right.

Blood Elves (duh you gotta love these revenge freaks)

Naga

Dranei (sure they are ugly sons a guns, but hey so are the undead)

Demons (take a wild guess which one of the races I think you guys will reject from my list--although this could be a combo or just one of the following: Archimonde's race, Manoroth's race, and/or the dreadlords)

Ok so here's my thoughts behind this somewhat outrageous idea. First off Blood elves, naga, and dranei are already working together since WCIII FT. It would be fairly easy for Blizzard to write in somehow either Illidan or Kiljaden transports them back to Azeroth since either is quite capable of coming up with the means of doing so.

Second, even though Illidan doesn't really want to be ruled by Kiljaden, he currently is and has no way of getting out of his shady deal. Thus, the origin of my idea of demons being the fourth race. Now please excuse me for not remembering the names of the demons individual races, but I don't have the WCIII collector's CD on me that tells me about them. I'm not at home atm.

Again IMO, the first three races are being totally left out atm and I'd love to see them play some part, even if it's not in the way I propose, in WoW. Dranei even more since I'm sure they're still not altogether happy in losing Draenor to the orcs in the first place and then having the place ripped apart by Orc Shaman Ner’zhul when he created the multiple dark portals (now known as Lich King/Arthas). So there's definetly some revenge aspect there to be taken advantage of.

Blood elves, especially since they are now BLOOD elves, probably wouldn't get along with either night elves I guessing the night elves don't look highly on how vengeful their brethren have become, going so far as calling themselves "Blood" elves. Also considering their past bad history with their brethren (remember the Blood Elves, formerly the High Elves, were the ones that got the elves in hot water with the demons in the first place when they played with demonic magic too much. Also there's no way the Blood Elves will get along with the Undead no matter who controls them, Lich/Arthas or Sylvannas, considering the Undead destryoed Quel'Thalas.

Naga, well nobody reallly likes them, Horde or Alliance. :P

Ok so for my major flaws:
#1 HUGE balancing problems. As I already mentioned, two factions has enough problems with balancing. Decent balancing with 3 different factions would just be absolutely insane. But if anyone can do it, I believe Blizzard can.

#2 Demons for the most part would be just too big as far as a playable race. You think Taurens are big now. Imagine a demon that's 3x as big. Only way around this I would guess is to make them young demons. Which is a good idea anyways considering that would make them weaker as well and would tend to "fit" the game and world better this way.

#3 Right now we have two main continents, one on the left and one on the right. It just looks pretty and balanced. I really have no idea where the land for my new proposed faction would end up. Northend maybe if the demons decided to take it back from Lich/Arthas but my guess is that would be too hard for them and unpleasant as far as storyline change. I don't even like the idea. I actually kinda want Lich/Arthas to become so powerful, every once in awhile the Horde and Alliance have to team up like in WCIII to take on the Lich's undead. So I guess I don't really have a solution to this problem. Although I think this is less of a problem than the first two.

Other minor ideas:
Goblins
I really doubt these guys will become playable races unless it's to both sides and that seems a bit silly to me. I know there's "evidence" out there to suggest otherwise, but I think Blizzard has made it clear keeping these guys as neutral is just plain easier.

Any of the creeps
I don't know where I read it but I agree with a previous post that stated creeps should stay creeps. IMO they weren't organized enough before to be a big deal, why now?

Unknown races
If none of what I suggested comes true (even if some of the races were added that I suggested, not necessarily the faction, I would feel great) my best guess would be Blizzard will introduce races so far unknown to the WoW world.

That about raps it up. So what do you guys think?

Blizzard'll do what Blizzard'll do. They still need to put in an Apple Pie cooking recipe though. Mmm... apple pie.

There is going to be a Hero Class system later on where you can semi transform yourself into one of the higher end types... Blood elves could be one of them, rumors going around say they will be, but, its WWAAAYYYY to early to tell.
Naga: They are in there, you just have to know where to Hunt them. Check around beaches and inside the water.. be warned, they pack a punch.
Dranai... my memory is failing me... they may be NPCs, i dont remember...
Demons are in there, there is one that i know of in the Undead Area called the Undercity who is one person i REALLY dont wanna see with his blade drawn against me. probably NPCs again.

Only goblins ive seen so far are the goblin Shredders in the game, and that was a screenshot on someplace.. but, yea, they are in there, just not playable.
Creeps... yea, imma go play a Spider or Bear to go kick some alliance **** upside the head.. (sorry but, no).
Unknown Races. uhh.... sure... if they managed to avoid being seen in Warcraft I, II, Beyond the Dark Portal, III, and The Frozen throne, i give em props. thats some mad hiding skill there. Granted the Naga were unveiled in WCIIITFT or just the norm WCIII, dont remember... but.. yea... the world is massive, and with all the explorers, im sure wherever they are hiding would have been found by now...

I wont even bother with the New Faction aspect... your right, way to much balanceing... maby in a few expansion packs... or.. much much later in a massive patch that people wouldnt want to download because they may not want to start over at level 1. its kinda tedious...

Didn't come out real good, but you could try these two --

I need to start taking more pictures. I realized that I have surprisingly few of them, and they're all practical things like the location on the map of Tabetha in Dustwallow. They also don't look quite as good in Irfanview as they do in the game...

Ryup-

Hehe yeah I know, but knowing I have to wait another 4 or 5 months till WoW comes out will do that to a guy.

Tartesk
Scholar-

Interesting info. Somewhat wish I was in Beta. Although I think I'd rather just see the end product. If what you say is right, I'm guessing blizzard may stay 2 faction no matter what they add to the game especially if all the races I mentioned are already NPC's.
