WoW beta forums = funnyFollow

I was reading thru some posts and someone mentioned that a great mood booster was the check out the Beta forums on the WoW official site. (my appologies, I forget the Name of who, take credit if its you ^_^)

Truer words were never spoken.

Most are a good read for being funny, but this one stood out to me because of the way its opened. The guy opens his post saying "...I have a life outside my computer..." and "and if someone with over 200 posts flames me, its cool because they probably don't have lives."

WoW thread "Blizzard Really Dropped the Ball"

Now the reason this is so funny to me is because:
- Posting on a message board automaticaly invites discussion of a topic. Its the whole point of the thing. You post somewhere - expect to be flamed/disagreed with. (one mans flame is another mans reasonable argument)
- The whole "im rubber your glue..." opening always always always sounds more like you are trying to convince yourself, and is RARELY ever believed by anyone else, and generaly, you will get flamed just for that on its own.
- "its cool because they probably don't have lives." Yay for you. You beat them to the punch. You flamed before being flamed. If feels not like a post for open discussion, but rather a challange. He is on the defensive before he even says what the post is about.

Its just a pity that I can't post a reply seeing as how im not in beta >.< Thats why Im posting here. To vent ^_^. That kinda post irritates me (thus not boosting my mood). Why can't ppl just be nice? If you don't like the game, its completely unnessessary to rub it in the faces of all those who might like it on the MB's for that game. If you arent happy, leave quietly, and rant elsewhere.

Oh well. ^_~I hope noone gets mad at me for posting this. ^_~

I found that post quite hilarious. And, that person didn't flame first, that comment didn't even sizzle it's target. As you said it, people usually flame people for being what the flamee actually is trying to convince themself that they are not (in this case, a no life internet junkie).

For some funny posts check out the pvp forum. I know which server I'll be playing.

*cough* That was me and Tartesk that mentioned the WoW forums XD
And yes, the beta forums are too golden. I'm so glad that all the idiots are betaing (Not everybody betaing are idiots but there sure are quite a bit) because from what I'm seeing when it comes to their behavior, they won't be playing at all when its released. In the meantime, of course, we can all enjoy the ramblings of these players XD.
I kinda feel sorry for the beta testers that does want the game to progress, though. This must be nothing compared to whats happening in WoW now. In a bloody rage, I would have destroyed a town if I heard this everytime I logged in...

Oh, and JAEFo...

After new push:

I logged onto the server today and *ALL* my $!@% is *GONE*!!!

WTF?!?!

I hope Blizzard is planning on having better security for this game cause as it is now theres no hoppe for you.

it could be that had a friend over to my house last week and he asked if he could check his e-mail while I was in the shower... His name is Steven Nash and his IRC nick is D4rthSeri0us I will put up his address if anyone at Blizzard can help me get my stuff back.

I spent TWO WEEKS getting to level 15 and now all that hard work is wasted and I totally want to just quit now. Blizzard is too lax with their security for me I am going back to playing UO which was way more fun anyways.

This really did put a smile on my face. Rate up. XD

Sephirah - the reason he states outright his comment about flaming in the initial post is because, simply put, you CANNOT post something without getting at least mildly admonished. Some people are better than others at softening the blows, but if you start a new thread in the general discussion forum, you WILL get flamed by at least one person. Sad, but true.

I'd consider letting you use my handle and password for posting, but they're the same as my log-on for the game, so I most definitely can't do that. In any event, if you see posts by Restandre, that's me -- my original EQ character was a druid named Azuarc, but for the last 3 years I played my cleric and named my WoW username for her instead.

Actually Az, unless he gets a CD Key, he wouldn't actually be able to download/install the game, so there's no worries about him running off with your account.

Err, please don't assume the message boards are reflective of the entire community ...

I think I've made somewhere in the area of 5 posts in those forums. I do my /suggesting in-game when I feel there's something that Blizzard needs to address, and of course /bug any bugs I find.

The forums have become a place where people go to rant and whine. A beta-soapbox, if you will. Generally most of your more mature players are having too much fun playing to post on some silly cry-towel fest.

I'm not saying you don't encounter people like that in-game, just that they're much more diluted populationwise than they appear on the forums.

PS: Jaefo, that post is classic. I mean, TWO WEEKS!! Smiley: yikes
