are alliance members able to party with horde members or is it you have to pick which side you want to be on? cause im waiting for this game to come out(have been forever) and my buddy wants to be horde and i want to be alliance so was wondering if we would be able to party together...

Right now you have to pick one side or the other. The future though may be different... there is a lot about this game that is not finalized and is hotly debated by the testers.
You are at war with the opposing side. Not openly, there is an uneasy peace. But orcs and humans do not corroborate. They can't even talk to each other for lack of a common language. (Undead can understand the human language, and though they are the only ones who can comprehend the other side, you can't even send tells to opposing faction members.)
Only the exceptions can be exceptional.
you wont be able to have both types of the factions on the same server either. i find it very odd.

uuhhhh where are you getting your info from? ive seen plenty of PC alliance players going through the towns in the Undead starting area killing off the city guards (yes thats possible). they can both be in the same server... hell they are getting ready for a PVP server right now!

What he probably means is if you create an Alliance character, you can't also create a Horde character, on the same account, on the same server.
ive got a night elf shaman and an undead warlock same account... i even made one of every race to check out thier dance animation (deleting the character after each /dance and me laughing my *** off).

As it stands right now, there is only one server. I have heard, (I'm not saying it's true,) that you can only have horde or alliance on a retail server.
