Gather up all of your junk gear rotting in your bank (Non No-drop) and head to your home city. When there do a find (CTRL-F) for your towns tribute master. Once you have found them get rid of the stuff you dont want and browse all of the benefits.

Remember once you pick your benefits that you must activate them by hitting Alt-U and clicking activate.

Oh and the cost of your benefits is per 10 minutes so use the tribute wisely and try not to run out too fast.

Good luck.

The trick is finding what gear you can actually tribute. It's weird; some stuff you can tribute for a few thousand points but it wouldn't sell at all to a vendor, or be a few gold. Or something that a vendor might pay a few hundred plat for, can't be tributed.

You can use tribute to cover gaps in foci you don't have on a regular basis, or to boost your power for raids, as examples. My necro has regen and burning affliction tributed but I usually only use it when I'm doing a quick Lesson grind. My cleric has mana pool and mana regen for those times when he's stuck without KEI. Farming drops in Veksar usually covers me on a few thou trib for awhile.

Some of the stuff for sale in bazaar is there mostly because of the tribute demand. A good example is Mistletoe Cutting Sickle which tributes for 1312 and sells for about 200 plat or so in bazaar. So instead of tributing plat direct which is inefficient, you can buy the Mistletoe Cutting Sickle and get more than 6.5 tribute per plat spent at that example price.

This is very usueful if you want to have have a focus effect, attack bonus, haste speed ect., that is not readily available cheaply at your level. One thing to note: all tribute effects count as worn effects, and will be subject to the same stacking limitations as any worn item's effects. HP, End and Mana are the only bonuses with no stack limit.

There is also a limit to the amount of tribute you can have stored at one time, I think its 150K but not positive.

Lucy linked on this site under Items/Equipment to the left, lists the Tribute value of items, which makes it easier for you to choose what to tribute. Some items like the Helm of Senselessness can be sometimes found in bazaar at 15 plat and tributes for 600 which is a great return on your plat. Most items if not all tribute for the same or less than their for sale value from NPC merchants, so NPC vendor diving is not a good way to find tribute bargains.

Haha! You guys are the best! That makes sense now. So as Debalic said, I can just save my tribute and use it when I need it?

Yup.

The same person you hand in your items to allows you to set which Tribute Effects you want active. So let's say you opt into some regeneration effect at 10pts and some infravision effect at 10pts. You hand in items sufficent to gain you 500 tribute points.

Then you go out adventuring. You turn on your tribute and your points immediately drop by 20 (480 left) and you have ten minutes of the regen & infravision effects. Ten minutes later, assuming you haven't shut it off, you drop to 460 points and get another ten minutes. So on and so forth. Eventually you finish adventuring and shut off your tribute three minutes into your last 10min session. You "wasted" the last seven minutes, but them's the breaks.

While adventuring, you decided that infravision is kind of dumb, but you could use a mana regen ability. You'll have to return to your hometown to visit the Tribute person again and reset your abilities and, if you have more items, turn them in to increase your tribute pool.

I've read mana regen tribute is counted in your worn FT cap, if so it's a waste if you're already at the cap or 20 above the cap..

What hurts a lot of people is they go afk in the bazaar and leave their tribute on.

I use a custum UI that has a timer just for tribute. I love it. I use SARS btw.

Keep in mind, as mentioned above, some of the effects count as worn item. If you have a haste item you may not want to take haste tribute. If you are at or near the FT cap then dont take it or go over it, you have wasted points.
My personal favorite to look for in tribute are the LDON armor. Usually get a 5 to 1 point per plat spent. Acrylia leather is the same, if you find it for sale cheap on merchants.

Dang, nice advice.

I did not realize they had custom GUI's with a tribute timer. I know people who have lost all their points that way.

Many thanks for the post

The time has come to finally try out tribute!

Do TS thing such as silk, pelts and ores give any tribute?

Anyone care to offer an opinion on the best tribute for a 67 mage?
#14 Mar 20 2008 at 10:23 AM Rating: Excellent
silks pelts ore loam are all NIL or wont tribute, but if you do the combine it all into the intricate elaborate etc armor, it will tribute.

Not only that, the combine attempt on cultural armor gives a percentage bonus to skillup even if what you make will never sell in bazaar fast enough for you.

I tribute a good deal of the junk I make tradeskilling. Well, not the stuff that actually sells in the Bazaar, or will be used later, but most of the junk.
