Graphic card keeps crashing,Follow

#1 Oct 18 2011 at 10:54 AM Rating: Decent
anyone else got this problem? I was having fun doing the daily chronomancer's test, this time in Nektropolis Tribulation (never even heard of the zone), I crash fairly early in the zone, but my computer recovers. Up to the point where I start to fight the three mobs in the main courtyard, just before my final mob is going to spawn. Then I get a blue screen and my computer resets.

Ofcourse I died ingame, at first I thought it might have been a glitch in that particular zone. That thought soon ended when I crashed again, in the guild hall.

Just before that crash, I heard that it happened quite a lot to people since the last patch. Anyone got that problem too? (Unrest server btw)

Quite a shame that even an epic mob in Nektropolis does not grant special AA, I did not expect other mobs to drop an exquisite chest yet no AA either :D

Nope, I have never had any crashing video issues. What card are you running? Have you updated your drivers lately?

I updated my drivers, seriously overdue apparently, but no difference. I'm going to try and get online on my FFXIV account, let's see if my computer crashes then. If it does, it's most likely my problem, if not it might just be an EQII problem.

If your card is getting old it might be overheating, which is why I was asking what card you have.

I agree with Cal. Sounds like your card is overheating

I had a crashing problem like this but I didn't have the blue screen, but PC would shut off..ended up needing a new power supply.
If that is your problem make sure you get one with 60% or more effiency.

Well, turns out my vid card was busted. So now I have a new vid card, doubled my ram, cleared my harddrive entirely, also got a new cd drive.

I should not experience many problems for quite some time now :D

And now a couple of days of putting everything back on my computer, way too many cd's to rip back on my drive sigh.

I'm glad it was at least an easy to fix problem, and not some mystery thing!

Just upgraded my system too, I can run with shadows on!

Me too! It's quite a different environment that way.

I have discovered that I don't like Shaders 3.0. My whites aren't white, and shiny things are glaring.

I only turned on Shader 3.0 once, back when they first put it in. I didn't care for it either. And I run with GPU shadows instead of CPU. I think they look better.

Hm, I'll have to muck with the shadows. I only turned them on after my upgrade, lol.

I wasn't a fan of Shader 3.0 either. Really can't stand shadows in general to be honest, so I end up disabling them in just about every game I play. ;)
