Anyone else get a purchase confirmation email for their account today?

My account was expired and the C.C. used to last pay for it is expired, but this morning I got an email thanking me for my purchase. Basically it was the normal subscription notice.

I open the Station Launcher and it's showing my EQII account as active, but there's no charge to my bank.

Whenever I get free time from SOE for whatever promotion, it always comes in an email showing it's a promotion, never a confirmation email.

Normally I would pass it off as a phishing email, except there are no links outside of the normal clickable parts of the picture (and none of them are redirects). Also, my account is actually renewed.

Just wondering if this was a promotional thing, since it happens to be the day before WoW:Cataclysm.

Nope, just checked my son's account that's been inactive for a few months and it's still listed as closed.

You might want to contact SOE customer support and ensure nothing fraudulent happened, that does sound very odd.

Just checked my station account to see a C.C. that wasn't mine, except it had a gibberish address listed. The address listed FL but had my zipcode, which is a long, long way away from FL.

Anyone happen to have SOEs billing or tech support number?

Thanks for the number, I'm waiting on the phone as I type.

What's odd is that there is no way this C.C. could have gone through with its listed information, making me think it's a game card. But don't game cards show as game cards?

Also, I haven't logged in since May. Kind of a long time for a stolen password to sit unused.

I'm wondering if SOEs systems have been compromised, since I am about 95% certain my system hasn't been.

And what kind of half assed idiot doesn't change the password or email on an account once they gain access to it? Especially if they are going to activate the account.

There seems to be a rash of closed accounts getting hacked lately. I should probably check mine.

Just logged in and it would seem that stuff is missing, but I can't really tell. I can open my bags and everything left is no-value, except for a few things. I can't open my inventory for some reason, but I have an old UI that could be blocking it. Deleted my UI and repatching the game so I'll let you know in a minute.

My bank seemed to all be there. I guess I'll know when I see how much money I have.

I haven't played in about six months, so it's possible that I left my bags that messy, but I'm usually more organized than that.

Yup, plat, gold, and any equipped items worth anything are gone. Bags and boxes are all still there though. It was definitely done in a hurry.

I'm not so much pissed about my stuff being gone as I am about an account that hasn't been used in 6 months being compromised.

Network security is what I do and what I am in school for. My system's secure and I haven't had a vulnerability in who knows how long. This wasn't a keylogger.

The only thing I can think of is a vulnerability with the EQIIMaps or ProfitUI auto updaters.

Well customer service is pretty good at getting that sorted out within a few days at worst.. did you manage to talk to them about it earlier?

Yea, I got a hold of them and they changed some of my account info. The problem is that I don't remember what I had and they are asking what's missing.

If not it isn't that big of a deal. Every time I come back I ***** around on my main (79 Monk) and roll a new alt to play with. Only difference is I won't have the PP to fund the new alt and I'll be doing everything from scratch. Plus the farming to get money for gear on my main will give me time to relearn everything.

Honestly, I'm just thankful my Monks Gi was no-Value, since it's the Gi from the Pre-Shadow Odyssey events and I've never seen another one like it. That and my claws, which were also no-value.

The prick probably only got away with about 100PP

I was talking with the CS rep and she commented on why my password and email weren't changed, because you need the security answer to change them. Good to know.

What gets me is how a completely bogus address associated with the CC that was used wasn't immediately picked up and was actually allowed to go through. I mean the address for the CC was literally

sdefggfhsdgfh
wetrgwetrgsrtgh
asgsdagergrgwsa, FL #####

The Zipcode used is actually my Zipcode, but I'm in Hawaii, not Florida. That alone should have put up a flag and blocked the transaction.

Sounds like SOE needs to tighten up their CC transactions.

I run 2 accounts, and about a year ago I was grouping with some old guildies chatting away, and out of nowhere I see on my screen my main login. (I was playing an alt at the time) I hurried and logged into my station account, quickly changed the password. And logged into my mains account. I think this all booted whoever was in my account at the time out, because it showed my main logging out, and then back in again.

Change passwords every once in a while. Don't use the same passwords for different account, different games, or even for your email, or bank accounts. There are bad people out there that will mess with your life, if your not keeping yourself one step in front of them.

In my case, months earlier I had my Aion account hacked, and took me a long time working with Aions CS to get control of the account again. I was stupid enuf to use the same account name, and password for my mains EQ2 account. I suspect whoever had hacked my Aion account, had been shopping that info around to see what else it might work on. And ended up getting into my EQ2 account also. Just a guess, but seems possible. Now I have everything changed, and yeah it's a pain keeping so many passwords for so many things. But you almost have to do it like that now a days.

I share this hoping maybe it might help somebody else from having the same thing happen to them.

I had that happen last week. $4.99 charged to an account I hadn't used in ages. I went in and changed my password. Since I didn't want to resubscribe to any of the games I used that account for, who knows if they took anything? I'd really like to know how they got my password. I haven't used it, so it couldn't have been swiped due to my own carelessness. In fact, I reset my password about a year ago, then didn't end up using it for the game (opting for my newer account instead).

The credit card billing address, of course, was complete gibberish. It did have my name and my zip code, though.
